We went for our 5 year anniversary and everything from the service to the food was AMAZING! I can not stop telling people about the time we had. It was our first time but definitely not our last. We had the best server and unfortunately I can not remember his name but he was from Nebraska. He was so great!! The service was so great. They really helped make our anniversary one to remember. Thank you all so much!!
My husband and I went made a reservation for Valentine’s dinner. We hadn’t been here before but will be going back. We arrived a little before our reservation so we sat at the bar for a drink while we waited, service was prompt and friendly. We were sat promptly at our reserved time. Service at the table was amazing. Shawn our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. They do a little presentation about the meat options, explaining each cut and the price. It was very impressive. The food was unbelievable!! My husband opted for a dry aged KC strip and it was cooked to perfection. I had the Chilean sea bass and it did not disappoint. Side dishes are served family style and we chose lobster Mac and cheese, very good. There was a bit of a wait for the food as it was a busy night and we were given a complimentary cream spinach. I would not have chosen it, but it was delicious, with a nice crust on top. I am looking forward to going back.
Valentines dinner, we were glad to be able to get in and have a great table. The service was just fine, being Valentines night, little busy. We usually sit at the bar. My husband had the prime rib, it was excellent! I had pomodoro seafood pasta, wasn’t to crazy about the sauce. Over all, great place for a drink at the bar and dinner for a special occasion.
My group of four went for Restaurant week 2018. The atmosphere was great, our service was great! However, three out of four people in our party all woke up in the middle of night with severe abdominal pain that lasted the entire next day. We all had the filet that was offered as a main course. The member in our party who did not feel sick, has chosen the salmon.
We arrived early for our table & found a seat at the bar to wait. The bartender was friendly & offered us water while we looked over the menu. We asked for a sample of wine before we chose a bottle & surprisingly our table was ready 15 mins early.
We were taken to a corner booth by a friendly hostess & although we have only dined here a handful of times, our server, Chuck, made us feel like regulars. He approached our table & remembered not only that he had served us before but that we needed to hurry to get to a show. He instantly asked if we were heading somewhere or if we had time to relax, which we did.
We began by ordering the wine we tried at the bar & started with a plate of the hand made onion rings. Chuck offered us his personal favorite sauce which was a prefect accompaniment. We then decided to go with the Restaurant Week menu but with some upgrades and add ons - we cannot possibly dine here without getting the hash browns with cheese & creamed corn.
As we were enjoying our wine & bread, a chef came to our table, A CHEF, & presented us with prosciutto wrapped scallops as a surprise. They were AMAZING & a wonderful addition to the meal.
Per the norm, our food was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly, the hash browns & creamed corn were exactly as I remembered & Chuck was around with a smile & a joke to keep the night fun. Since we over ordered, as we always do, Chuck was helpful and lovely and took our plates in back to box them up for each of us to take a bit of everything home. He actually gathered a team to help & all our plates were removed at once.
For dessert we had the cheesecake & the creme brûlée which were both everything we hoped they would be and more. When I couldn't finish mine, Chuck once again boxed it up along with an extra sauce for me to enjoy with it later.
Along with Chuck we have had Sean & Mark as our servers & they are all wonderful. This is one of our favorite places & we will be back often!
It was my first time at 801 Chophouse. There was four of us. We had a reservation at 7pm and our table was ready when we arrived. We did the KC Restaurant week menu and it was a great value. The steak was perfectly cooked. It was a fantastic dining experience!
