Decent steaks and sides but for the price they are asking, I expected more. We were left waiting for a server multiple times for order taking, drink refills, check, etc. The service wasn’t terrible, but again, for the price I expected more. Overall it was good but I felt that we overpaid for what we were given.
Service and food was fantastic! They made our anniversary celebration very special!
Excellent place to eat! If you’re trying to impress your ole girl, THIS is the spot to take her.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back
Very nice atmosphere and the food was amazing! Our server, Sean, was great too. We will be back.
It was our 36th wedding anniversary.
I have dined at many great restaurants nationwide and I would rank 801 Chop House as high as the best in every regard. I suggest that it is the best restaurant in Kansas City.
The food and service was absolutely amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
For a Saturday, they blamed delays on the Chiefs-Cowboys crowd. It seemed no busier than other restaurants on a Saturday. One of my guest's steak was overcooked and their prices are high for what was provided. The shared vegetables were higher than other places which I have visited.
Our first time dining at the 801 Chophouse - Kansas City. The food was delicious, but the waiter, Cord, really made our visit memorable. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, efficient, and friendly. Great waiter!
Great food, a little slow given the price. Still a great place and we’ll be back !!!
I was wrong in almost everything from our drinks being taken and served wrong , to the steaks being under cooked on how what we paid for! Came here for some good exquisite food not raw meat
We came here whilst visiting from England as the reviews were great and it was close to our hotel. There was a great atmosphere from the moment we walked in. The Maitre D offered us a seat at the bar for ore drinks. The bar staff were very knowledgeable and offered advice on an extensive drinks menu. Once taken to our table we were met by our waiter Cord. A really nice guy who knew everything about the cuts of meat on offer and also gave guidance on a huge wine list. He was very attentive, but not in your face at all. The perfect mix of hosting really well, without being a part of your meal. The steaks we had were unbelievable! Some of the best we have ever had…and we eat a lot of steak on our travels around the world. The sides to go with were delicious and Cord actually stopped us from ordering too many which most waiters wouldn’t do. Everything was 10/10. We couldn’t fit a dessert in, but Cord brought us an Espresso Martini on the house to say happy birthday. I would 100% recommend 801 Chophouse to anyone in the Kansas City area. When leaving they even recommended a local jazz bar to finish the night off…which we went to, and had a great night! This place was worth every penny.
Dinner was great, service was great. Overall happy with our experience
It was our 10-year anniversary and 801 was the beat place for our celebration. Great service, food and place to eat. They treated us so well for our special occasion.
Had to set in bar area which I didn’t love. Service and food weren’t quite as good as usual.
Husband and I came to 801 for dinner before a show at the Midland. Our server, Chris, was informative, attentive and overall wonderful! He helped recommend the best way for our entrees to be prepared so we could enjoy the wonderful cuts of meat. We started with the steak tartare, then had the prime rib, and lamb chops with asparagus and lobster mac & cheese. *chefs kiss* This was hands down the best food and BEST SERVICE we have had in over a year and a half of dining out!
Loved every minute of it! The service was incredible. Very intimate and delicious
Amazing food and service great experience would highly recommend
This was my first time eating here and the quality of food and service was outstanding. We were there for a business meeting and the noise level was perfect to meet with my business associates.
I got the dry aged ribeye, it had almost no taste. It seemed like they forgot the salt and pepper. I ordered medium and it was cold in the center.
The scalloped potatoes are amazing everytime! I wish the burbon menu in KC was close to the STL store. They have awesome choices there. Here it's like maybe midshelf is the best they have.
Our waiter Cord was outstanding!
Turner Ashby was our server and he was wonderful! We had a great dinner and look forward to coming back again soon.
Classic high end steak house. Never been disappointed with either the food or service.
Great steaks and service. Best I've experienced in a KC restaurant in years.
One of the best steaks I've had. The Fromage was such an amazing compliment to the river with the spice rub. Such an amazing experience. Service was great. Lobster Mac was okay it was sweeter than I was anticipating but overall the food is a 10/10.
Wonderful evening with my family for my mother's birthday!
Amazing experience, service, & food!
Amazing experience for my family and I! They decorated the table for my Mother’s birthday and were so hospitable and amazing. Food was incredible! Must do if you’re in KC!
Terrible Terribe Terrible Service by the front desk staff.
Super slow service all night.
Outstanding service, ambience, and food. I have always been a fan of all the 801 Chop House locations due their consistent performances. The Kansas City location was truly one of the best.
Well done by all.
Had a terrible experience here. Server was great, food not so much. Went with my daughter who has celiac and normally orders chicken and salad. They were out of chicken?! So she settled on salad and baked potato. I ordered an off menu dry aged ribeye medium rare. When my ribeye arrived I cut my first piece and it was well done. I flagged down a waitress and she took back. A few minutes later the chef came out with the same steak that he had cut though the center showing that part wasn’t well done but rare to med rare. Ok- the best part is the spinalis or cap in my opinion. He said it was because of the dry age that there was a lack of moisture and that’s why that part was well done. He offered to remake so I said please do. A manager brought out the next try and had me cut into it while he was there. Unfortunately this time the meat was blue rare…. He wanted to take back again at this point I said I will just eat it. He did take off the bill but I didn’t go to a high end steak house to not have an enjoyable experience. The sides were marginal as well. If you consider cream corn to be corn and heavy cream then I guess they nailed it. Other than that it was tasteless and poor. The baked potato wasn’t hot either. I d can’t recommend this place. I’ve eaten at chophouse 801 in Omaha as well and really wasn’t impressed there either.
Excellent service. We were celebrating our anniversary, and it couldn’t have been better. The steak was awsome, comparable with the great steakhouses in nyc. The sides very tasty, large portions.
A memorable experience.
The only comment I like to make has to do with the wine list. Full of great wines, but very few decent options in the sub-$100 category. I think they should include more wines in that segment. The choices were few and not very good.
Very nice birthday celebration, service was outstanding but food was a little bit pricey. Overall we had a very nice experience and will return for another special occasion!
Waiter was very good any attentive. Food was amazing.
Took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine… ruined the meal and the steak isn’t cheap. The place was empty and waiter was more worried about socializing. High end restaurants should have high end service and getting a glass of wine is basic.
The food was lovely! Everything was very nice, the only problem was the server recommended a “special” appetizer that wasn’t on the menu and failed to tell us the price of the so-called special. So when it came time for the bill, we found out the appetizer was $72! That cost more than our mains! We were very disappointed by that, so we will not be returning out of principle.
Ambience was wonderful. Our Green Coat was Sean McKenzie and he was stellar. Informative, funny, helpful, while professional and very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this place.
I always love going to this chain from my home state.
Consistently very good. It is a family favorite!
What a lovely time! Our server Sean was top-notch! He was knowledgeable and made us feel at home. Was such a wonderful night. First time in Kansas City, and his service alone would make us want to come back!
Pablo was absolutely fantastic. If every server was as good as him, every day would be magical. He is to be commended.
