801 Chophouse at the Paxton Ratings and Reviews
Has been an outstanding spot; however, food (steak) prep the last 3 visits has been off — twice overcoooked & once undercooked. Issue was acknowledged & cost credited, but preferred to have the properly prepared steak. It’ll be awhile before a return visit.
NYE dinner we were seated without a wait. The restaurant was full. The cocktails were delicious. I had the medium rare bone in filet with foie gras torchon and truffles topping along with a sauce that was all recommended by our server. It was an excellent choice. My husband had the veal chop that was also perfect. Half Ceasar salads each, shared broccolini, Zinfandel and port for dessert. The service was without fault even on such a busy occasion. The atmosphere is elegant. This is a classy restaurant that has never disappointed us.
Excellent Steak House with interesting variations of sides and appetizers. Definitely a restaurant for the "expense account" or independently wealthy for those wanting to eat there more than once a year.. My son's steak was $110 which I almost choked on when I saw the bill the explanation was it was "Dry Aged" which is crap, Capital Grill sells prime dry aged steaks all day for $60 to $70. Definitely would recommend for special occasions, but watch out for the price on non-menu specials.
Very nice place to take a date or if you want a really good steak. If you want medium rare you might want to order it rare as mine was closer to medium. It still tasted great so there was no way I'd send that back. It was fairly pricy but the quality of food is certainly worth it.
We had an amazing night. Great atmosphere, staff and food. The right choice for a personal or business special occasion. One of our top dinning experiences, and I have been very fortunate to have experienced many nice places throughout the US in my business travels.
No complaints about our experience. Service was excellent! Everyone was very intent on making the experience a good one. Food was very good but wasn’t any better than other near by steak restaurants. I would have no objections to returning for another meal if the opportunity arises..
Our son attends Creighton University, we fly in every year for his birthday and celebrate at the 801 Chophouse at the Paxton, this was our 4th year doing so!
The food is exceptional, the service and cocktails exceptional.
They truly make him feel special every year!
Having early dinner prior to an event .
Not everyone ordered drinks and waiter seeemed less than happy. We shared an entree and he never offered individual plates. He also wanted to clear everything quickly. The check was actually “dropped” in the middle of the table.
The hostess was great. However, the overall experience negative due to our waiter. Not every meal has five courses.
Although pricey, you get what you envision from this restaurant. From the extravagant wine list and handcrafted cocktails to their great food, this place went far beyond my expectations. They managed to master steak and seafood both, as well as dessert. Their wait staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. We had a small wait for our dessert, something we didn't notice until one of the staff members brought it up, and was reprimanded with some port; which we both enjoyed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is wanting a nice date night out on the town and tell them that their chocolate souffle is to die for!
Overall, a good solid steakhouse with a well-appointed dining room and bar. our service was great, food was good, but wine program is over-priced for most decent wines compared to most major metros of US (NYC, SF and CHI excluded). barman was very good (demeanor and ability). would return for another meal.
Service was top notch. Attention to detail was top notch. Portion sizes were very good. But lets face it, you are coming here for the steaks. My ribeye was best ribeye that I ever had. Done to perfection and awesome flavor. Will definitely be back. Great experience.
