80 Thoreau Ratings and Reviews
Seating was prompt, Service was excellent from introduction to check. Never felt rushed but did not wait for anything.
Menu was full of great choices, meals chosen were prepared perfectly and served at the right temperatures.
Prices were very reflective of the quality and quantity.
Overall excellent, it was nice to be so pleasantly satisfied when you try a restaurant for the first time.
Recommend this restaurant strongly.
Wonderful, as always. Particularly appreciated just how many options there were for a vegetarian in our party. Edward, front-of-house, was particularly accommodating ( and with a great sense of humor) with a reservation request AND some confusion about our reservation that I confused! Our food was delicious, great advice with wine pairings.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always unique and delicious. The staff is courteous and responsive but not intrusive. They are also very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Great relaxed yet upscale atmosphere to make us feel special.
I have been to 80 Thoreau several times and have never been disappointed. The food is spectacular---not your everyday menu, but really delicious choices and interesting combinations. This time I had the seared scallops (we both did) and they were perfection. I asked for different sides and they kindly accommodated the switch (Brussels sprouts and fingerlings---cooked just right on both counts!). As it was a special occasion, we had dessert and both were heavenly...small portions, but more than enough for after a meal. The service was lovely, with our needs being met without the sense of constant interruption that seems so prevalent in many restaurants these days. Our experience was almost without issue, with just one concern: It was very cool in the restaurant and it was a cold, cold night outside. They should have adjusted for that by keeping the room a bit warmer... No one's perfect, right?!
We went here on December 14 for my partner's birthday. Everything, from the attentive service to the food (we ordered the bluefish pate and two entrees- duck and tuna) was superior. I was impressed that they took note of her gluten sensitivity when bringing out bread, and the candle on the pot du creme was a nice touch. We will definitely be back!
Food is very good, especially for the western suburbs. Not exciting, but interesting -- though the maple spice roulard was really good. The service is good, but this is not a place to eat fast -- plan on more than 1 hr and about 1 1/2 hr or so if you have dessert.
We were a party of 5 celebrating my son’s 17th birthday. He is a junior at Concord Academy and, quite honestly, I don’t know why it’s taken us this long to find this place! Everyone had a starter. My son said the pork belly melted in his mouth. I had a delicious green salad that tasted as though it had just been picked from the garden. Nothing fancy, just beautiful greens and a light vinaigrette. For dinner, we had scallops, tuna and the roasted chicken. Every plate was wiped clean! The service is very professional but not overbearing. Will definitely be back and recommend you visit!
It is my favorite local restaurant. The menu always has a nice assortment of choices and I like the overall flavor profile... the taste of the ingredients really stands out rather than being overly spiced. Last night, the best thing I had was the celeriac soup with cider creme fraiche and croutons... I would eat it again right now if I could.
The waitress last night mentioned that the restaurant has been in Concord 7 years... I think it is safe to say that I have easily been to the restaurant over 20 times and I have not yet been disappointed.
The food at 80 Thoreau is consistently amazing. They have a great selection of wines as well as interesting microbrews. The service is wonderful and not at all pretentious. We have eaten there at least 6 times since moving to the area and we look forward to many more top notch dining experiences.
