The food was very good indeed. We both enjoyed all of the courses. Service was very good and attentive. We've been to 80 Thoreau quite a few times. It seemed somehow less inviting and comfortable than we've previously experienced. Perhaps the lighting was too high? Perhaps a couple next to us with a baby (seems kind of out of place at this kind of restaurant). We enjoyed our meal but will be looking for a better ambience in future.

We had a great meal at 80 Thoreau! The food was amazing, service was attentive and the ambiance was good. We had a view of the train and the kitchen in the end room we were in. I had the seared gnocci with lobster appetizer and the Arctic Char entree. I ate every bite as it was so delicious! The devil's food cake was delicious too!

It was my husband's birthday and unfortunately our babysitter was not able to assist us last minute. I called the restaurant since we both have not been there and asked if they would be able to accommodate my 10-month old son. I also stated that I didn't want to be a burden and asked if it was alright to bring him. The host insisted that I could bring him that it would be fine for me to bring him and that they had a corner seat the owner often sits at with their own young child. It was very comforting to hear this and I appreciated that they were so kind and helpful in a situation that I hadn't planned for.

The menu options were not extensive but they were all interesting which we both appreciated more. My husband and I enjoyed our meal and the staff was very attentive.

We normally LOVE 80 Thoreau. So much so that we got many GCs for Christmas from friends and family. However, this time, neither my husband or I liked our meal, which is unusual. Both of our main courses were over cooked. However, the service made up for it, and we'll be back to try again.

Very nice restaurant in Concord. Menu is not extensive, but had a bit of everything so you'll be sure to find a couple of items that suit your preference. Our dishes were well prepared & paired with interesting sides that worked well. Portions were just right. Our only negative comment is that all the dishes were just a little heavy-handed with salt. Otherwise, dishes were delicious.
Wine list is good & staff attentive. Will come back to again.

We have eaten here before and came with high expectations, and so were slightly disappointed. Strengths first, the food was delicious. ON the other side, although it was not a particularly cold night, the room was uncomfortably cold. We asked if we could be moved to a booth area, but were told no, that there no booths for 4 , and the restaurant was quite full. They would see about turning the heat up a bit. I suspect the system was not functioning properly since there was only cold water in the restroom for hand washing. We were thoroughly chilled by the time we finished eating ( for the record, my husband was wearing long johns and a fleece over his shirt and tie) and were quite eager to get to our heated car!The server was pleasant, but not quite well informed about what he was serving; he didn't know what a sun choke was ( why I asked) and said it was a type of artichoke, etc. Some things he did ask about in the kitchen and returned with the info. We were disappointed in the wine by the glass selection. For a restaurant with this depth and an extensive offering of bottles, there were 5 reds and unfortunately none suited my husband's taste ( maybe his taste runs to more plebeian, and less sophisticated to appreciate the offering? unsure, but we tasted a couple and neither he nor I liked them). I had a white Grenache (?) and eventually I decided it tasted like a sauvignon blanc that had been chilled by a melting ice cube.
So since you asked, open table, I answer honestly that we were disappointed in our overall experience. You might read this and think my husband is too fussy, etc., but since it was his birthday, I was disappointed that it was not an overall great meal out.

The food was good, the service was a bit on the slow/felt ignored side. The greetings were staid, not a happy welcome kind of reception. That is one of my pet peeves. Restaurants should be excited to greet guests, right?

Nonetheless, I had a really great time and good conversation with my friend and our bellies left happy. I did like the way they allowed us to take our time. We were at that table for several hours.

I went for my birthday. I wanted a place that I could dress up for and 80 Thoreau did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the dessert was beautiful.

The food was good, but I found the fish to be a bit too oily for my taste. Overall the wait staff was attentive, but our dessert was scooped off the table before we were finished, which made it feel like they were in a hurry to get us out the door. Also, the server did not clean off the table after the first course. A small thing, but still a touch I would have expected at this sort of restaurant. They shouldn't be serving the second course no top of the leavings of the first course. They did clean up after the second course before serving desert.

Excellent food and menu with seasonal and creative dishes. Each course was flavorful and delicious without being too small or overly large. This is undoubtedly a special place that is well worth the price premium and the outstanding service and food only reinforce my opinion.
