We were a party of 5 celebrating my son’s 17th birthday. He is a junior at Concord Academy and, quite honestly, I don’t know why it’s taken us this long to find this place! Everyone had a starter. My son said the pork belly melted in his mouth. I had a delicious green salad that tasted as though it had just been picked from the garden. Nothing fancy, just beautiful greens and a light vinaigrette. For dinner, we had scallops, tuna and the roasted chicken. Every plate was wiped clean! The service is very professional but not overbearing. Will definitely be back and recommend you visit!

It is my favorite local restaurant. The menu always has a nice assortment of choices and I like the overall flavor profile... the taste of the ingredients really stands out rather than being overly spiced. Last night, the best thing I had was the celeriac soup with cider creme fraiche and croutons... I would eat it again right now if I could.

The waitress last night mentioned that the restaurant has been in Concord 7 years... I think it is safe to say that I have easily been to the restaurant over 20 times and I have not yet been disappointed.

80 Thoreau hits it out of the park again. Really special combination of flavors, attentive service and nice low key elegance. One of our favorites.

The best food in Concord and the attention to the customer is excellent. The only improvement would be the arrangement of the listing of the wines. Very enjoyable for a special occasion.

The food at 80 Thoreau is consistently amazing. They have a great selection of wines as well as interesting microbrews. The service is wonderful and not at all pretentious. We have eaten there at least 6 times since moving to the area and we look forward to many more top notch dining experiences.

Not very imaginative menu--predictable dishes. Three of our party had the duck which they enjoyed. I had the vegetable gallete;nothing special. Noise level at times intrusive from a table of six noisy young women. Other parts of the restaurant are more peaceful, further from the bar. A series of service failures: 1) A martini ordered on the rocks was served up and had to be repoured; 2) First course order was wrong--brought two bluefish pate instead of one bluefish and one rabbit/ something else--took so long to correct that the main course arrived before we had finished first course; 3 red wine was served cold, and maitre'd somewhat flippantly said it would warm up; of course, it never did even in our glasses, and we left a third of a bottle, really unable to enjoy a cold red; 4) finally the bill charged us for three first courses rather than two. Seemed very bush league and we were embarrassed because we had driven forty minutes to bring friends whom we were hosting.

80 Thoreau never disappoints. The small but delightful menu changes seasonally, with a focus on local produce, meats, and cheeses. The talented Chef Carolyn Johnson pairs innovative and well blended flavors with traditional dishes such as roasted (and braised) chicken to provide exciting new twists on comfort foods. She also excels at fish and seafood dishes - and there are always creative and satisfying options for vegetarians. Expect to see seasonal favorites in tune with the freshest available foods - wild boar tagliatelle or duck confit, for example.

The wine list is thoughtfully compiled to enhance the food - with ample choices by the glass for parties with different food choices or pallets. Don't miss out on the creative cocktails that the bar delivers - ranging from classics to trendy, and all solidly delivered.

And above all, leave room for dessert! Thank goodness, this restaurant understands that quality is truly more important than quantity. The pastry chef wows with just-right portions of delightful and creative sweet bites.

While this isn't an everyday restaurant, the menu isn't as expensive as what you would pay for the same quality in Boston, making this diner happy to be able to go more often! Kudos to the team and keep up the great work!

I've never had a bad experience at 80 Thoreau - I've always been pleased
with the menu, food and service. In the main room the tables are too close
together - which is why I always ask when I make a reservation to be seated
in the other room and by the windows - and that request has been honored
every time!

The Maitre 'd amazingly accommodated our crazy schedule, changed due to late plane arrival, and rush hour traffic. Our out-of-town colleagues were particularly amazed by the creative items on the menu - with so many locally-sourced items. The menu appropriately reflected the late autumn season, but without whacking us over the head with winter squash and root vegetables. Service by bus-boy, waiter and sommelier were all top-notch - attentive without being intrusive or hovering. Reminds me that we need to go back more often!

My husband and I received a gift card for our wedding. We finally used the card on the occasion of our first anniversary. We found that 80Thoreau is a local culinary gem. The menu is small but manages to cover the spectrum of dining preferences from vegetrian to fish to poultry to beef. The two dishes we ordered, the duck and the beef were both outstanding. We shared a dessert, a cranberry walnut cake with ginger ice cream that I thought was to die for. However, my husband made the comment that the portion was small, especially of the ice cream. He's right, but I like smaller portions. The room is a little noisy. Restaurant is on the second floor but there is elevator access. Overall, we were both very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a more sophisticated culinary experience.

Outstanding restaurant. Only issue for us is that white wine by the glass selections are quite limited and not nearly as good as New Zealand wines. (Sauvignon Blancs).

Only one vegetarian option - it was tasty but more crust than contents and very low if no protein that I could tell - I think the server said it had cheese. Server said it had a lot of vegetables but I don't think it was more than 1/2 cup. I also had the mushroom soup - it was delicious and a salad - which had an excellent dressing
my friend was impressed with her meal- chicken and gnocchi
I wasn't impressed with the processco and I will not get it again.
excellent atmosphere - I was in the main dining area that over looks the parking lot.
The dining area at the entrance isn't as nice -the bar is there so more crowded
my friend loved her 'pumpkin' ice cream sort of pie dessert. I had apple crisp and it was nice

We've had great evenings at 80 Thoreau for years and it's the first place that comes to mind for a special occasion. By now, we've been there often enough that they keep track of food preferences and allergies so we feel particularly pampered. This time we went for an anniversary dinner and, having indicated that on the reservation, were treated to two glasses of champagne right after being seated. What extra attention! That on top of their usual excellent menu, great service and yummy food.

We've grown to appreciate the dependable quality of
the food at 80 Thoreau. There are no surprises or creative flair
but you know what you'll get when you order roast chicken.
The service at this meal, as is often the case, was pitifully poor.
It took well over an hour for our main course to arrive; and no
one seemed to notice or care even after we asked whether our
dinner would be out soon. "Sad."
