Busy Tuesday night, food was quite good, service was average. Noise level high so hard to hear your guest. I would say that the staff was attentive but other than our waitress, others were not friendly (except for hostess) and seemed uninterested in engaging with patrons…no eye contact, no smile or response to a thank you.

Great cocktails, food and dessert with top notch hospitality-the dining room energy level was low for a Saturday dinner - the price point is quite high - ($21 is a lot even for a shared dessert - the galette was delicious) and generally worth it vs. the top quality. Wish there was espresso as a option vs. just drip coffee.

New chef. Awesome menu. I couldn’t decide so I had 3 first courses: Burrata w walnut & pea pesto and a light buttery focaccia. Poached asparagus w pickled ramps & fried capers Grilled scallops-Favas, arugula, scallion aioli, fried garlic Awesome! Invented a new Margarita made w Barrow’s Intense Ginger followed by a nice light Italian red chosen by Andrew.

We've eaten at 80 Thoreau several times, so we were expecting an excellent meal, and we were not disappointed. The scallops small plate was exceptional. My wife had pappardelle with mushrooms and I had a bluefish dish, both of which were top notch. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our strawberry and rhubarb galette, but it was worth the wait.

80 Thoreau has interesting fancy food and a great bar. They keep an up to date menu on line, which helps us figure out how much trouble we’ll cause with our allergies. They are always accommodating, but it would be nice if they had dairy-free desert (other than sorbet) more often. They are one of the few date restaurants around here that are quiet. Not cheap, but in line with other restaurants on this level.
