The food and service are consistently good. We had been searching for a good restaurant for special occasions near us for 2 years and we finally found it in 80 Thoreau. It is our "go to" for special occasions and we are never disappointed.

Great food and service - loved the Sea Bass and Chicken Liver Mousse starters, and the Scallop entree was brilliant. Really recommend going here for a celebration.

I've never had a bad experience at 80 Thoreau - I've always been pleased
with the menu, food and service. In the main room the tables are too close
together - which is why I always ask when I make a reservation to be seated
in the other room and by the windows - and that request has been honored
every time!

The Maitre 'd amazingly accommodated our crazy schedule, changed due to late plane arrival, and rush hour traffic. Our out-of-town colleagues were particularly amazed by the creative items on the menu - with so many locally-sourced items. The menu appropriately reflected the late autumn season, but without whacking us over the head with winter squash and root vegetables. Service by bus-boy, waiter and sommelier were all top-notch - attentive without being intrusive or hovering. Reminds me that we need to go back more often!

Once again, 80 Thoreau proved itself a lovely place to dine. The sauces were outstanding. Our waiter had no problem accepting that we like to share our appetizer, salad, entree and dessert.
We will be back again soon.

Delicate, flavorful dressing on the salad, delicious mushroom/celery soup, perfectly cooked scallops and delectable duck -- portions were perfect. Service was attentive but not intrusive.

My husband and I received a gift card for our wedding. We finally used the card on the occasion of our first anniversary. We found that 80Thoreau is a local culinary gem. The menu is small but manages to cover the spectrum of dining preferences from vegetrian to fish to poultry to beef. The two dishes we ordered, the duck and the beef were both outstanding. We shared a dessert, a cranberry walnut cake with ginger ice cream that I thought was to die for. However, my husband made the comment that the portion was small, especially of the ice cream. He's right, but I like smaller portions. The room is a little noisy. Restaurant is on the second floor but there is elevator access. Overall, we were both very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a more sophisticated culinary experience.

Outstanding restaurant. Only issue for us is that white wine by the glass selections are quite limited and not nearly as good as New Zealand wines. (Sauvignon Blancs).

Food was great, but unfortunately it arrived just slightly warm. Once advised of this, management went out of their way to rectify and apologize. I feel this was an unusual occurence and would not hesitate to return.

Only one vegetarian option - it was tasty but more crust than contents and very low if no protein that I could tell - I think the server said it had cheese. Server said it had a lot of vegetables but I don't think it was more than 1/2 cup. I also had the mushroom soup - it was delicious and a salad - which had an excellent dressing
my friend was impressed with her meal- chicken and gnocchi
I wasn't impressed with the processco and I will not get it again.
excellent atmosphere - I was in the main dining area that over looks the parking lot.
The dining area at the entrance isn't as nice -the bar is there so more crowded
my friend loved her 'pumpkin' ice cream sort of pie dessert. I had apple crisp and it was nice

We've had great evenings at 80 Thoreau for years and it's the first place that comes to mind for a special occasion. By now, we've been there often enough that they keep track of food preferences and allergies so we feel particularly pampered. This time we went for an anniversary dinner and, having indicated that on the reservation, were treated to two glasses of champagne right after being seated. What extra attention! That on top of their usual excellent menu, great service and yummy food.

We've grown to appreciate the dependable quality of
the food at 80 Thoreau. There are no surprises or creative flair
but you know what you'll get when you order roast chicken.
The service at this meal, as is often the case, was pitifully poor.
It took well over an hour for our main course to arrive; and no
one seemed to notice or care even after we asked whether our
dinner would be out soon. "Sad."

We had a fantastic first visit to 80 Thoreau. It was as good as we had been hearing. Didn’t think it was loud until we left and found our ears were ringing a bit. All in all a great date night.

Table for 2? Ask to be seated at Table 59. In the restaurant's back room is in a far corner near the kitchen. One of you can look in on the chef from time to time while the other enjoys the corner banquette seat. Both enjoy a view of the room because of the mirror behind the banquette. And both also enjoy the 50% quieter ambiance, i.e., not having diners on both sides. We realized that night how much our enjoyment of well-prepared food requires not being interrupted by the conversations of strangers. Makes sense no? Table 59.

80 Thoreau is a neighborhood gem and worth the effort to reserve a table in advance. Everything was fabulous, the staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was exceptional and no one in our group was disappointed with any choice we made for apps, dinner or desert. A great time was had by all!

We've never been disappointed and this meal was no different. We were the first to try the mushroom soup. It was AMAZING and quite possible the best soup we've ever had there. That is saying a lot since we have come to love how the team prepares the soup. I know - I'm raving about soup, but it was just that good!!! Keep it up.

We were treated to a delightful dinner by our visiting son and daughter in law. As always brilliant food, charming and attentive service, and accommodating seating for hearing impaired. The defining thing about 80 Thoreau for me is it’s inventive blend of flavors. Each dish is a combination of meats or fish with vegetables and starches that complement and enhance the main ingredient in often exotic and exciting ways. Eating at 80 Thoreau is like experiencing a fine and complex wine, or a layered and exotic perfume. Not to mention the desserts. Oh my!

I made the reservation on Open Table for 5 people at 5:30 pm. We were running 10 minutes late so I called to inform the restaurant. We were informed there was no problem. When we arrived they said the reservation was for 2 people, not 5, but they would accommodate us shortly.
We were seated in about 10 minutes.
We placed our drink orders. We then waited about 15 minutes before our cocktails arrived. At about 6:30 we placed our dinner orders. The entrees were finally served at 7:30. No explanation given for the delay but obviously they were very short staffed. No one came to check on our satisfaction with the meals. We finally had to walk around to find our waiter and ask for our check.
As creative as some of the meals were, I would not reecommend this restaurant or return.

I wanted to take some out of town friends to my favorite Concord restaurant. The only downside was that one friend's salad had very little salad dressing and the lettuce was well past its prime. The wait staff gave her a fresh plate done properly and deducted the cost of the salad from the bill. Her main course was fantastic (as were the rest ) and we had a great meal.

This was our first visit and we were delighted from beginning to end. We were seated in a nice booth by a window overlooking Thoreau Street. We started our dinner with complementary champagne since they knew it was our anniversary. It seemed that the entire staff greeted us and offered congratulations. For starters we had the mixed lettuce salad and the spicy eggplant soup. The salad dressing was delicious and the soup lived up to their reputation for excellent soups. It was not too spicy. For main courses we had the grilled pork loin &belly and the grilled swordfish. Portions were adequate and cooked to perfection with a nice presentation. For dessert we ordered the house-made mixed berry sorbet and the apple crisp. Both were delicious. As an added touch each dessert plate had a small lighted candle cleverly stuck to the side of the plate. A complementary small, light cheesecake, also with candle was also served. The service was friendly and well-timed. In each case where something such as soup or dessert might be shared, we were each given an appropriate extra utensil without our asking. The night ended as pleasantly as it began with greetings from various staff members as we left. Incidentally, do not be put off by the second floor location. There is a conveniently located elevator.

Lovely restaurant. We have been going more recently as a date night. Wish the desert menu had something chocolate though. Not in love or like with the dessert offerings. Will continue to go for dinner however.

So comfortable yet very upscale. The food was amazing. Unique and marvelous eggplant soup. Perfect flavors and nice spice kick. Root vegetables Gallette (sp?)dish was a delightful mix of flavors and the flakey crust melted in your mouth. My husband's swordfish was also fabulous. A thick beautiful piece of fish cooked perfectly, evenly too. Do not miss the 80 Thoreau experience. High end dining. Flawless execution. For me personally, I wouldn't sit by the window again. The inside is lovely. We were over a parking lot and watching the trains and people did nothing for me. It detracted from the restaurant ambiance. We will go back. Higher recommend
