A little over priced. Music was way too loud. We had to talk so loud to be heard. The view and food was good. Just thought it was overpriced for what you got.
8 Up was a nice experience overall. The view in this restaurant is top-notch. The ambiance was perfect - darker in the restaurant with cone lights lighting up the tables. The food was just okay overall though. Our favorite was the Brussels sprouts which were phenomenal. We were slightly disappointed because the menu is small and refined but not all of the food was phenomenal (you would usually expect this of a place with a bigger menu). We were also very disappointed that they were out of a lot of items by the time we ordered dinner; I had to pick a 3rd entree, a 2nd appetizer, and a 2nd side before I chose items that were in stock (again, not typically expected of a smaller restaurant). The prices were very good though. Not sure if we will go back or not.
Amazing experience! Great service, great food. 10/10
Everything was delicious. The service was excellent, but almost too quick.
Enjoyed our dinner very much, variety of options. Service was excellent. Will go again.
The place itself, is clean and nice looking inside, except the bathroom was pretty busted. Although they did attempt to make it as easy as possible to find, be prepared for an adventure before actually finding it. Our hostess and waiter, were both polite, as well as prompt. However the food was lackluster, small portions, and extremely overpriced. I do not plan on returning. For the money, there are better options.
We have eaten there before prior to Ky Opera performances, although it had been a few months since our last dining experience there. The menu seemed to have changed with the prices going up. $15 for a glass of house wine seemed a bit steep. That was the reason for my "Fair" rating for value above. When asking about specials, our waiter stated that there was a special two days earlier for Valentine's day but now those items were at the regular menu price. I got the impression, possibly incorrect, that these items were "leftovers" from Valentine's day. The service was fine and we were able to get in and out on time for us to make the opera performance without hurrying.
Excellent! The food was good, drinks amazing, atmosphere terrific.
A very enjoyable Valentines’s Day experience!
Great atmosphere. A bit dark inside but can help set the mood. Portions were a bit small but we got dessert and that helped out. Great food.
It was a wonderful dining experience, from beginning to end. Valet parking, hostess, waiter, last but not least food was excellent.
Good food. Nice bourbon list
I had cocktails and dinner w a couple of friends before going to the orchestra. We had a great time.
Great service and food! I’ll return any day - great stuff!
Dinner was amazing, the service top notch and the wine and bourbon selections were wonderful!! My only ding is that despite many open tables, we were seated at possibly the only one that only offered a view of the wall - for a restaurant that tours the height and views - realize that’s one of the things that people are looking for
Arrived at 5:50 for 6:00 reservation. Hostess wouldn’t seat me and suggested I wait in the bar until 6:00 and come back to her stand. Seriously? There were plenty of tables open, walk-ins were seated, and I was told to wait? Why?
Third time we've given 8 Up a shot, hoping that it would get better with age, but sadly it hasn't. On the plus side, it's a great location, view and atmosphere and they have great drinks but that's about the extent of it. The service was basically non-existent and lacked energy throughout our meal. Several times we had to search to find him and felt like we were burdening him with our requests even though there were several empty tables. I had trout and she had steak. Both were bland and flavorless. The steak was burnt crispy on the outside. I'd only recommend this place for appetizers and drinks on the patio, on a nice day. Go somewhere else for dinner.
Good food but nothing that was overly exciting. Ordered the wheat berry salad, the trout, and cardamom crème brûlée. All were good but just lacked a certain pop to me. Service was only average. Will definitely give this place another try, especially when it warms up and can enjoy the outside area
Awesome as always. We are going again next weekend!
Great time. Lovely.
Was very nice, ambiance was awesome! Food was great but limited selection for menu, great views of louisville, service was very classy, but overall would go again
Great New Years spot. Food was amazing! Try the short rib, you will not be disappointed.
Not sure why they get such a harsh rap but they were what you expect of an expensive restaurant. The food was slightly priced a little higher than what I would consider in line with the industry but it was still good food just pricey
this venue is terrible.. over priced... overpriced food told ther was no reserved seating in the bar ( wasn't true)
i was seating inbetween groupseating in two stand alone seats was told we could not sit there
the seats were not used at all ( no signae on seats .. poor customer service
Always love dining with you, and we absolutely love the menu ever time we dine there; however, our waiter was extremely rude and hardly spoke two words to us the entire dinner. I never find myself complaining, but it was unbelievable, almost as if he was annoyed with us.
All the Portions of the entrees were so small. My dish said with fingerling pototes and literally they were 1/2 of 1 pototoe. We were going to order a side of mashed potatoes but the server said not necessary. It certainly was!
The desserts were quite unexciting and tasteless for New Year's. Left quite hungry.
Menu was super limited for those with a gluten allergy and the food was nothing amazing for the price. Was underwhelmed by the food but it was a neat restaurant.
Food was excellent. Service was poor music in bar was loud. We celebrated a family birthday & were able to bring our own cake .. vegetarian options were made available for 2 family members & high chair was furnished
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience at 8 up, from the welcome to the wine list and the interesting variations to their food preparation.
Great service and great food. You can't ask for much better than that. As a add bonus though they do have Pappy!
We had a fantastic meal with great drinks. It was a date night for my husband and I and we made a great decision going to 8up. I had the short rib and my husband had the pork chop, we also ordered the kale salad, a "bourbon and coke" and a beer. It was great combinations of flavors and the staff was attentive and nice.
Slow slow service. We told them we were going to a concert and waiter acted like no problem. Waited 45 minutes for our entree. Even getting the check was excessively slow. Will not return even though several of the dishes were quite good. 25% off was nice gesture but didn't make up for tension and having to eat in ten minutes to make the concert
Amazing food, amazing service!!!
Food was outstanding. Service very good. Watch out for double check-in desks - one for bar and one for dining room -- bar failed to refer friends looking for reservation to the dining room check-in just a few feet away.
One of the best restaurants in Louisville. I had late reservations and they were able to accommodate us 2 hours early which was great! The food was amazing. I got the grilled pork chop with apple slices which doesn’t sound like an appealing combination, but it was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had with all honesty. My wife got the grilled salmon and said it was amazing too. Great atmosphere between the restaurant and outside deck and live music it couldn’t get any better than that!
I am disappointed in the whole experience. I have called to talk to a manager and still have had a called from this place. Worst Birthday dinner ever.
We ate dinner in the restaurant and then progressed outdoors to the rooftop bar where they had a great musician playing. Everything was great overall !
Great food!! We came in from out of town and found this place and it met all of our expectations.
I booked this restaurant for a client dinner that I hoped would impress, and it just fell really short. Service was not up to par with what one would expect in a fine dining restaurant. We sat with empty drinks and it felt like our server was put off by even waiting on us as he clearly had a larger group to attend to. The table next to us had to actually get their own drinks from the bar and go to the hostess to ask if they could get service. The food was average, but definitely not impressive.
