7th Street Social
It was a very basic place with friendly staff but moderate food and atmosphere that was overpriced. There are so many places in the Twin Cities with similar menus and styles that are so much better.
Greeted / seated immediately at door on busy Fri nite. Had a res thru Open Table. Very pleasant staff, helpful with drink order and when asking about size of portions. Food arrived very quickly and hot! Took half a salad home due to large portion size. Great value on Fri fish fry, other items seem reasonably priced. Nice island bar. We had small table near front door so a bit drafty, but it was fine. Will be back again. Good experience.
Busy Fri night for fish fry so service a little slow getting second drinks. Great fish and tartar sauce but food was lukewarm and cold before done. The potato chips were brown, way over fried and french fries also over fried but not as bad as chips. Liked the variety on the menu. Going to give it one more try. Hopefully the restaurant will get the feedback so the can improve and keep people's business coming back.
Our visit did not start well. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived at 6:25. The Hostess never consulted the reservations list and sat 2 walk in tables in front us before we could check in. We then had to wait for 15 minutes in the bar until a table cleared and she cleaned it. Our server was friendly but was late to the table because the hostess never told her that we were seated in her section.
There are NO desserts on the menu. How do you have a full service restaurant with NO desserts?
We decided to try this place for Friday fish fry after the positive review in the StarTribune. I was so glad to see they accepted reservations so I made them and it was a good thing to have with all the people who showed up! The hostess and server were both very friendly and efficient given how very busy it was. The place has a nice mixture of families and friends for a nice neighborhood vibe and energy. I look forward to returning and checking out the rest of the menu...
Great food and service as always. The greek salad at last visit was very satisfying with very fresh ingredients. The Reuben sandwhich is always a favorite!
The service was horrible!!! The bartender shouldn't have as many tables as she did when it's super busy!
The food was decent - liked the house made potato chips and French fries. The ambience was not nice. Broken window with exposed shards of glass. Seemed hazardous. Dirty walls, dirty menus.
Great service, strong drinks, and good service. Ample parking
Loved that there was a vegan option (burger) and the fish and chips is outstanding per my dinner partner. It was very loud but also a Friday so....to be expected. Homemade dressing is out of this world! No hesitation to come back again!
We stopped in last Friday night for the fish fry. We've been to a lot of different places during Lent. The fish was excellent, the portions were perfect and you can't beat the price. The only one in our group that had a hard time finding something she liked was a 12 yr old. She went with the soup. :) We will be back.
I enjoyed this place. We went for friday fish fry. Fish was good, although ppl in my group thought the pieces were small, it was cooked right and tasted good:) service was good at the table but they probably needed a second bartender, i liked the atmosphere and price was right at only $10.
The food was amazing. Great selection. Would have liked all drink prices to be on the menu. We were unaware that we would be paying so much for our drinks.
Unfortunately we will not be coming back here. We had a table of 16, which they had plenty of warning about, yet still gave us one server, who could not handle a large group.
We had to look for her several times in order to get a soda refilled or cream for the coffee. At least 4 people wanted a second Bloody Mary but never had an opportunity to ask. Getting a pot of coffee took time.
The food came out very scattered, some folks were done while others waited for food. The food itself was just okay. Some terrible and some good. The fish got good reviews. While a burger was missing the majority of toppings. The potatoes were rock hard and cold and the hollandaise was literally ice cold. It was all quite unfortunate.
I do understand larger groups are hard, but with planning should be manageable. My suggestion is to not take large groups at all. Also, make sure you really look to see what you’re serving.
Great food and a fun atmosphere. Deserts are huge and plenty to share!
First time there and would not be going back. Sat us next to the front door which was really cold when it open, so we moved ourselves to another table. Slow service, food was lacking flavor, soggy fish basket. High bill for what we ordered. Only good thing was the company I was with.
Good service but very mediocre, somewhat over-cooked food. Feels more like a bar than a restaurant.
How is this place even open for business?! We were there at 7:30PM on a Saturday and there was one other table in the dining room and one person in the bar. I should have known it was bad news when we walked in the door and no one walked up to seat us. Three people walked by and said “Hi” and walked away. The staff knows nothing about the menu. If you ask them a question about the dinner menu or the drink menu they tell you “I like everything” and that’s it. Based off our food, I doubt they like everything. A member of our party asked if they have a specialty and the server responded they are known for their fish and chips. Sure, maybe they’re known for it because it’s that terrible. The breading was thick, greasy, and and had no seasoning (so thick it didn’t really fry all the way). The fries were greasy and overcooked. All of the food we ordered was extremely under seasoned and bland. At one point in the evening our server disappeared for over half an hour, so we were unable to order more drinks. By the time she finally came back around we were over it and just wanted to leave. I can’t imagine this place is going to be open much longer. Poor service and less than mediocre food is a recipe for disaster. Plus, the place is filthy. The wall of our booth was covered in stains and the table was sticky. We will never be back.
Sorry to see so many negative reviews. We’ve been here a number of times and the food and service have been very good. I really like the shrimp tacos, the wait staff have been very nice and efficient, and it’s usually quiet enough to have a conversation without screaming at each other. We will be back - hope it’s still open!
We dined at lunchtime. Fairly quiet. There was just one server acting as bartender and server. There was a bit of a lunch crowd so we did need to nudge another staff person to bring us our food as we saw our lunch sitting under the lights ready to be delivered to the table. The food was good and a nice to place to grab a bite to eat.
Our food was great and our server was extremely nice.
Wine very good fish special ok
Very welcoming for families
Our experience there was wonderful. What made the experience wonderful was our server. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name. However, he was very courteous while we kept him busy with app and drink orders as our group sporadically arrived. He was very pleasant to deal with us both professionally and personally. The apps and drinks were also very good and they all arrived to our table in record time. We really enjoyed our experience there and will definitely be back.
Love 7th Street Social. Friendly waitstaff, great menu well executed.
Cold soggy fish and chips.
Server was nice but service was exceedingly slow for a night when they were not busy. Food was ok, however pork burger seemed under cooked. We wondered if they rushed it because after 45 minutes we asked about our food. Poutin was good.
Would have been a five star all around but we had to sit at a table by the door... brrr! Will definitely be back though!
Also a great location if you're coming or going from MSP airport.
Outstanding service and overall dining experience. This was my first time at the establishment but I will be back again!
Food was great, service was incredibly slow. Granted we were a group of 8, however we were the only diners in the entire back room.
The food was not good at all! The saving grace was the cheap happy hour drinks and the great service.
We went for trivia night. It was fun and the food was good.
We’ve been to 7th Street Social several times as a family and have always enjoyed it. Service can be slow but it’s a pretty consistent place.
Pretty average everything here. Looks like they have plenty of space for groups. Our host was not ffriendl, but waitress was great. Limited tap beer selection.
The food was pretty good - as were the prices. The design of the dining room was comfortable and cute but dead silent. You could hear what everyone else was saying. They could use music to liven it up and provide more privacy. The bar area was too bright, while the dining room was a bit too dark (sleepy almost). There was only one server it seemed so service was on the slow side. For a Saturday night, it wasn't busy and we didn't need a reservation.
It was ok. It didn't feel welcoming. The beet salad was not good, it was lacking flavor and it wasn't fresh. The buttermilk fried chicken burgers with buffalo sauce were ok. They brought 1 instead of 2.
We wanted to share the fries but they thought we wanted to share the burger. Mistakes happen and it's ok.
They brought the second burger later and a second plate of fries that we didn't order and that they charged us for it. I didn't say anything as it costs only $2. They seemed annoyed with us. Don't know why.
It's a cute place but I wouldn't go again.
We needed a really good meal without a wait before a concert. The Hot Mess is the best burger I’ve had. I am a little fussy about my cocktail and they did it perfect. It was not busy at the time.
The place can use adding some ambiance. It felt cold and the service was slow. Server was friendly . The food was better than expected.
Perfect place to stop before catching a flight at MSP. Great burgers and variety of beers. Will definitely return.
