This is our favorite restaurant in Boston. Food is consistently good. Service is great. Cozy neighborhood location. The long time manager is amazing.
The food at 75 Chestnut is fantastic and the hostess and wait staff are just as outstanding. We eat out frequently in Boston and this has become a favorite of ours. The Nantucket Seafood Stew is a MUST!
My fiancée and I LOVE 75 Chestnut! Super cosy family restaurant with great ambiance.
Food: Normally really really good, unfortunately the most recent meal we had (Steak & Avocado salad) was not great (meat quality was not the best, which is weird because we order it all the time and it’s normally excellent).
Drinks: Here’s the thing. We both love an Old Fashioned cocktail, and 75 Chestnut makes a Top 3 OF in all of Boston in our opinion. The problem is, if you get the wrong bartender, the OF us made with seltzer water and the wrong cherry.
Overall amazing cute small neighborhood restaurant with great ambiance!
Lovely dinner with Excellent service and very fresh, delicious food (shrimp cocktail, salmon and the burger. Very cozy ambiance.
Very nice would definitely go again
Great location, Fabulous food, Wonder service and a overall enjoyable time. We will gladly go back to 75 Chestnut!
Great food and service wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone
Has Thanksgiving dinner here with my son. There was a limited holiday menu. We both started with the pumpkin bisque soup which was good but very heavy for a starter. I had the turkey dinner which came with a vegetable medley, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and stuffing. It was average at best. Kind of felt like a nice cafeteria dinner. My son had the filet which he said was good especially the zucchini that c a me with it. The only desert on the special menu was a medley of about 6-7 tiny tastes. It was not that great. In the end I spent $196 for the two of us for what I believe was a $70 experience.
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner as a first visit to 75 Chestnut, and look forward to returning. We were intrigued by the Wine Wednesday special dinner deal.
Very nice and comfortable restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood. Decent service and great food and Make-your-own Bloody Mary's! What more could you ask for?
After 2 hours at the table the hostess made us leave since we were no longer ordering drinks because there was another party waiting
Overall great! Server was good, not the most friendly but not rude by any means.
Food was excellent. I ordered the hash which the potatoes were a little hard but otherwise good. My friends had the lobster omelette and lobster Benedict. Both loved theirs as well. The Nutella banana stuffed French toast was delicious. We ordered bloody Mary’s from the make your own bar which was also good. Not too many ingredients which can sometimes be overwhelming.
Would love to come back and try more from the menu!
Still as great as ever! One of our favorites!
Fantastic place, top to bottom.
A wonderful visit to 75 Chestnut! This is the perfect place for a fall dinner, from the food to the ambience. It’s cozy and warm, service is attentive, and both of our meals were delicious!
Cozy, very homey, great food! Would recommend for everyone!
Best place to eat around Beacon Hill
Always exceptional!! Hands down best spot in our neighborhood !
Dined here prior to attending a nearby performance. The setting is in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, off the main streets near the public gardens. The setting and ambiance makes it feel like a neighborhood restaurant. The food selection is both novel and familiar. I had the vegetarian bowl while my wife tried the special venison sausages. Both had excellent flavor from the ingredients without the need for spicing. Our server was attentive and paced the meal appropriately. Highly recommend this restaurant for a casual dining experience.
What a lovely surprise to dine at this charming Beacon Hill restaurant. Wonderful food selections and comfortable seating in this place with a feel of elegant old Boston. I had wanted to go here for several years and finally had the chance -- it was beyond my expectations!
It used to feel special to come here--there was a nice energy and sense of joy. I recently went for Sunday lunch with my daughter and although we had a reservation and there were empty tables, we were seated in the back by the kitchen. The nice front tables were still empty when we left to go back to the Grogan auction on Charles Street. The maitre d' was as personable as a cold fish. Our waiter was very nice and was good. The food was OK--not great. I had a steak and avocado salad and my daughter had the chorizo sausage hash. We'll go somewhere else next time--there are so many good options in the area.
Inexpicably, the restaurant told OpenTable that we did not show up for our reservation. Weird all the way around.
Great quality food, good prices and cozy atmosphere!
Amazing food. The filet was one of the best I have had!
My husband and I had a delightful meal at 75 Chestnut. The menu was not terribly inventive, but the food and service were excellent. It's a place to go when you want reliable comfort food.
The restaurant is in a beautiful Beacon Hill space, adorned by tiled ceilings and beautiful rounded windows. The wood bar is stunning too. Wanted to love it! Such a shame then, when the brunch was disappointing. The calamari were chewy and old. The flat bread was just ok. The service was subpar.
Dinner with my wife, parents, and in-laws. My parents chose the restaurant as the reviews were great. My in-laws were frequent diners here, but stopped coming a few years ago after a couple bad meals. They agreed to give it another shot and join us. Not one person enjoyed their meal. Fish was bland and served with tasteless risotto. The duck was rubbery, and the pork chop was overcooked. The chicken panini sandwich was dry and tough. I will say the atmosphere is cozy, and the service was good. Unfortunately, the below average food will prevent us from returning.
75 Chestnut is always on our must eat list when we visit Boston. They always remember us. Great location awesome staff. Never rushed. Food is always good, drinks interesting. Seasonal meals. Salads are 2 sizes and large is adequate for a meal especially if you add chix, steak, shrimp or salmon. Desserts homemade and delish. Prices excellent. Restrooms clean. Busiest times 6:30-7:30. Reservation recommended
Just what you want on a cold fall evening--a warm, charming, welcoming neighborhood restaurant on Beacon Hill. Good, comforting food that's reasonably priced.
Our family of four enjoyed a relaxing brunch at 75 Chestnut on a Saturday morning. This beautiful restaurant is tucked into Beacon Hill on a quiet street that oozes with history. The breakfast dishes were bountiful and tasty. The Bloody Mary drinks were HUGE and topped with a pickle, olives, and pepper. Just the presentation in the big glass was exceptional! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We were celebrating our son’s 25th birthday. He was treated with a scrumptious molten cake topped with ice cream and whip cream. Thank you 75 Chestnut for providing a wonderful experience! We will be back soon!
I love 75 Chestnut! Great atmosphere, food and service.
Good for a quick weekday night dinner. Cocktails were good with complimentary cheese and crackers which is nice if you don't like to drink on an empty stomach. The entrees were decent for fairly standard pub cuisine. Considering the location seems like this place could do with some updated decor and a more exciting/unique menu.
brought my mom in who was visiting for the night. Great atmosphere in the restaurant.. waiters/waitresses/host all very friendly, however our waiter had 0 idea about the menu. So that was a bit unhelpful. Food was very good... i got the salmon (although need more of the apricot dijon glaze) and my mother ordered the swordfish, which she enjoyed.
Booked a table for two on the day, there were no tables till 9pm. we arrived early intending to have a drink at the bar but were immediately seated at high table by the window. husband had surf and turf and i had the tenderloin au poivre - both were absolutely amazing and we felt they were good value. also had a bottle of super tuscan - also excellent value (for Boston!). Good, lively ambience but not mad busy. to finish, the bar tender was able to make us a proper dark Expresso Martini, which we had not managed to get so far since arriving in Boston a few months ago - all in all delightful.
This was our first visit to 75 Chestnut in many years. We were visiting with friends for celebration. The menu has something for everyone and the food is great. Service is excellent . Only complaint, parking. There is none. We will return soon.
My wife and I have visited 75 Chestnut several times. Most often we sit at the bar for a cocktail and app. This visit we were treating out of town friends to a dinner out and the specials (both wine and entrees) were perfect. The food showcased New England too with a stew served in a hollowed out pumpkin, a lobster pasta with beet fettuccine and corn, and a surf and turf with a filet and lobster tail. We love the variation in the menu across seasons, the signature cocktails, and the staff. The service was very good with the training on wine service showcased by the way our waiter decanted and served our wine. Always a fun and satisfying trip!
Food & service was good and it was great they were able to accommodate our party of 11 people. However, it’s not a large place so the seating was tight.
Always love this place. The charm and really friendly staff make it a great local spot
This was our first time to 75 Chestnut and I can unequivocally say it was one of our most delightful experiences in Boston (and we go out to eat a lot). The food was fantastic and the service was even better (S/O to Jeff). I would highly recommend!
This is great local neighborhood restaurant in Beacon Hill.
Extensive Menu and bar selections. Atmosphere was lovely with Halloween decorations! Staff was friendly and attentive.
Welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food and service. No wonder it's always so busy.
