Spent our last evening in Boston here, great little spot hidden away. Food was good, but their service and ambiance are why we would return. Very pleasant staff and such a quaint dining experience, would return and recommend.
Wonderful. Will def be back!
Delicious food. Great service. Will definitely be back!!
My poached eggs were cooked too long, but the other 3 meals were rated as excellent by the diners.
75 Chestnut is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Whenever I have out of town guests (which is often given the neighborhood we live in) they always want to return to 75 Chestnut.....it never disappoints....and, Betsy is your jewel!
This is one of the best restaurants in Boston! Such a warm, friendly, customer-focused environment with great food. It's a lovely ambiance and our only mistake was to make a reservation on Marathon Monday. The restaurant was super busy and noisy, but we have learned that it was an unusual situation. Highly recommended!
We love 75 Chestnut -- and it helps to plan ahead. Within moments of the doors opening, the place was packed for dinner. This place has the feel of a neighborhood joint -- everyone is happy to be there, chatting with each other and the friendly staff -- and is very welcoming to newcomers. The menu is quite large, and we haven't had anything less than a great meal in anytime we've eaten there. Yummy cocktails too!
We had a 1:15 reservation and were greeted cheerfully by the maitre’d. Our table was ready but in the window, so we had a choice of hot sun at our backs or shining in our faces. There were booths available so I was unclear why our weeks-ago reservation seated us in the window. I found the floor quite dirty and chairs piled up in the small hallway outside the bathrooms. Food was expensive and okay, not great. The service was excellent. I probably won’t return but cause it was quite expensive for such a lackluster experience..
Over all very happy
After a very long day of wandering around Boston, we finally arrived to a very warm welcome at 75 Chestnut. The front of house was friendly and the food was delicious. Thank you for the perfect ending to lovely day.
Nice neighborhood vibe, good food. My duck was delicious! The menu is a little oddly arranged, but otherwise a great find.
Good service and our flatbread with the pea pesto was delicious. However our Nantucket Seafood Stew was very overcooked and being that the ambience was intimate and sophisticated, the background music (rock) didn't compliment it.
We would try it again though.
The dishes were very complex and bad. It was cold, just out of fridge. Otherwise the space was nice, and service good.
The manager was rude to us. She may have been the owner too, but she seemed annoyed with us for some reason, and addressed us in a tone of voice that made us uncomfortable. I did notice that she seemed to be polite to other patrons, who she seemed to know. My guess is that, because this restaurant is in a wealthy neighborhood, that she had preferred patrons. Since we were unknown to her, she treated us quite differently. She was an older woman, just for reference, but I did not get her name.
Great service and food in a friendly neighborhood bar
This was not my best visit to 75 Chestnut which has been a favorite of mine for years.
We were seated at a table that straddled the booths so that we felt like we've been seated at
the "kids" table. I was never offered a second glass of wine nor a second cup of coffee. In fact, we
were there for a birthday - which I noted in my reservation - and no one even acknowledged that fact.
While I still like the food and often have a wonderful experience, this did not live up to expectations.
Always a good experience here. We both had specials, which were delicious, and the banana pudding was a great addition to the menu.
Great place. First time here. A hidden gem. Excellent value. We will be back!
Always a pleasure to dine at 75 Chestnut St-good food, service & ambiance-never disappoints!
Great atmosphere, good food, a favorite Beacon Hill restaurant
Met with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. The restaurant is a little gem on Beacon Hill.
Priced right and they didn’t rush us
Would definitely go back again.
Nice place in quiet part of the Hill. Good value.
The ambiance and cheer of 75 is always a delight. This evening it was quite loud and hard for one of us to hear at all. I think also we didn't order particularly wisely. My spring pasta was "gloppy" and undifferentiated, (I think the sauce was too undistinguished, thick and bland, the spring elements not fresh or hot) and and the whole didn't have a spring freshness to it; one sandwich was fine but not special, and the 3rd diner's meal was ok. As always the molten chocolate dessert was delicious. It may be that Sundays at 6.30 are just too way-busy, but it wasn't a particularly tranquil meal, although we all had a pleasant time and will return again and again.
[I can never figure out whether the food's temperature is lukewarm because of service, or because the food had been mainly preprepared, but it would seem a relatively easy "fix," and increase the quality of the food considerably were food less congealed and almost soggy.]
Great meal in an ultra charming setting!
I would however I would tell them to not get the Filet. The cut was poor and it was not cooked in terms of the temperature I asked for. The mussels were great.
Loved everything about 75 Chestnut! The atmosphere, food, wine, service - everything was perfect. We will definitely be back!
A thoroughly enjoyable dinner with welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive service. A cozy ambiance with the ability to carry on a good table conversation without being overwhelmed by the other diners. Two of us took advantage of the Wine Wednesday pre fixed menu, Jambalaya and Steak Frites with the Greek Salad and our third Egan with the Bib Salad followed by the spaghetti carbonara. The salads all were crisp and mains nicely prepared and generous.
A very nice evening at 75 Chestnut.
Food was mediocre. Bartender messed up drink order. Portions were adequate but prices are extremely high for quality of food.
Hostess, Betsy, is the best. Great neighborhood restaurant.
We had a very good dinner at Chesnut. The food was perfect and it wasn’t too noisy !
Everything was great. Good food, soft romantic ambience.
Had a wonderful dinner with friends our first night in Boston and it set up our whole weekend for nothing but good times! Such a cozy and inviting restaurant with good food and friendly staff! We will diffenitely come back!
As always, LOVE 75!! Service and conversation with maitre de and wait staff great, love neighborhood ambiance, foo DMD is always so good. Only issue was two of us ordered the avocado salad, and we only got two small slices of avocado in each.
Celebrated our 27th anniversary there. They got us nice seating upon request. The food overall was fantastic, just a few small pieces of potatoes were burnt but it didn’t effect the rest of the meal. Our waitress was great. Would highly recommend as we really weren’t disappointed but left there satisfied and able to take a nice stroll around the public gardens.
Standard American food in a quiet street one block away from Charles St. This neighborhood restaurant is cozy and the service is decent. The food didn't impress me too much.
Sommes arrivés a 11h30 pour le brunch. C'était parfait, servis tres vite . Mais ensuite des groupes de famille sont arrivés => beaucoup de bruit , car resto avec un cadre tres intime. Mais nous recommandons vivement.
A neighborhood gem! Food was wonderful and they took very good care of us. We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and they brought her a special dessert. We will definitely be back!
I had not been to Chestnut 75 in a long time and I forget how good it is. The food is delicious and the service is prompt and courteous. My friend enjoyed the Bloody Mary Bar.
I recommend it.
We come here a lot and are never disappointed. This time it was for brunch and everything was perfect. I had the Florentine eggs Benedict (they have 5 kinds). The eggs were perfectly poached and the Hollandaise sauce was good, not too much. The two accompanying sausages were really excellent and the fried potatoes were also good. Our guests had the chicken and waffles which they said were great. We had a table in the corner at the back which was quiet. Our server was excellent.
Amazing food and great deals on wine on Wednesday nights.
