Great casual restaurant with a good menu of casual food (tacos, feijetes, Thai rice, burgers, steak and fries).
While the menu for this restaurant looked fairly interesting, the food was really pretty bland, over in one instance quite overcooked. The interior is a cross between a Chinese restaurant and a place with pretensions to fine dining. The waitress was fine, but the hostess was gruff. Our table was in a terrible spot next to a stairway and was quite small, even for two people. I wouldn't recommend the place.
Our food selections, lobster bisque, scallops and salmon were all excellent. Bread (rolls) was a welcome addition. I particularly enjoyed the vegetables prepared in a Wellington mode. Wines were notable, although a bit pricey. Certainly an enjoyable Valentine's meal. Will go back for more.
We have been dining at 74 Main for several years and have always enjoyed our time there.
The owner is usually on the premises making sure everyone is enjoying there time there. I would say over the years he is constantly improving the dining experience. Our recent time there (Valentine's Day) was outstanding.
The food was absolutely excellent, but the service was impersonal and rushed, like the hostess and server had better things to do besides take care of us. Sad to say, we probably won’t be back next time we’re in town.
Slow overall service. The staff were very nice, but overloaded with large tables so our service was slow. Luckily we didn’t need to be anywhere right after dinner. The service staff did provide us a complementary additional glass of wine to try to make up for the slow service.
Food was excellent. We loved the mussels in butter and I had the salmon which was outstanding. Setting was very nice, lots of people but not noisy.
Have only been here once so I don't know enough to recommend many details, but it's certainly a good place to meet and easy to find. The service was outstanding and they will go out of their way to accommodate most all of your needs..
Solid 4 stars ..................................................................................... ........
The group of tennis-playing friends go Out To Lunch once/month. 74 Main is our go-to choice as they are always accommodating, service is friendly and coordinated and well-timed (bringing out the meals all at once ~ we are usually more than 12 diners) and the food has always been well-prepared, creative and delicious.
Service was excellent, my husbands steak was delicious but I was not wild about chicken and rice I had.
New Years- our waitress was wonderful and very accommodating however they have a habit of having a different person bring your food out when it’s ready and the gal that bought it out, stomped up to the table and did a quick stop- she didn’t even know what was on the plates and we weren’t quite finished with appetizers and dishes weren’t cleared. The food was great, it just felt a bit rushed...
We are repeat customers at 74 Main. We are consistently happy with the level of service, the quality of the food, and the atmosphere of nice but not stuffy. Their menu provides the customer flexibility to create their own combination of choices, making every meal fresh and interesting.
My fish tacos were pretty good, but there was a 6", brown hair in one and I have short grey hair. The fruit crisp at the end was NOT crisp. It had partially cooked steel cut oats for the topping which was very chewy and not good. I did not eat it. The chocolate flourless tort was excellent as were the lobster dumplings and the broccoli cheese soup.
This was the third time we've visited this restaurant in the past year; the first time was fantastic, the second time, my wife's baby-back ribs were pretty tough; but this time, the food was excellent, and the service, as always, was first rate.
Great meal as always! We brought friends along and they enjoyed it just as much!
Consistent food and dining experience!
Our meals were very good however one had to be sent back as they had not provided the vegetables that had been ordered. This was remedied quickly. Our waiter was terrific.
I order the lobster tacos (without the tacos) and they served it on slices of lettuce, which looked great. However, there were very few pieces of actual lobster in the dish. It was loaded with sliced onions (raw) and carrots, but there was very little lobster in the dish. My dining parter ordered the fish and chips, and his cod looked fine. He didn't eat the fries or cole slaw, but said that the fish was good.
