709 Point Beach Ratings and Reviews
Based on a recommendation, we went for our anniversary. However, would not recommend the restaurant for such an occasion. There were kids, a mix of how adults were dressed (some very casual), no table clothes, vinal bench seating. It felt very informal.
On a positive note, the food was good. Salad selection could be improved.
I have been a Jersey Shore girl my whole life. You go for the beach, the food, eh. Thank goodness for 709! Finally a nice place in Point Pleasant! Super friendly staff and service, a nice bar area and pretty dining room. An eclectic menu with something for everyone. Baked clams were excellent, mostly clam with a light dusting of bread crumbs. Caprese crostini was delightful with smoked mozzerella and proscuito-an appetizer that I had as an entree. Pages of sushi(I am not sushi savvy so I won't attempt to describe) that my husband enjoyed immensely. All kinds of crazy cocktails and beers. Wines by the glass and bottle. A home run!
How was my experience at 709? Actually....not that great. I have been to 709 over the years and it has declined in everything overall. I keep thinking it was a fluke incident but it unfortunately is not and by the next time I go they have figured out How to supersede the last terrible experience with a new more terrible experience.
Have been coming to 709 for years as part of our yearly Memorial Weekend trip to Pt. Pleasant and have always loved it. Unfortunately, this was not the case this year. Went on Saturday evening with a reservation for 6 people. Food was AWFUL, almost unedible. My son ordered filet mignon which was smothered in BBQ sauce, my daughter ordered salmon which was raw, a friend ordered short ribs which was full of fat and my husband ordered a rib eye steak which was slimy and fatty. Service was AWFUL as well! Will not be back. New management has lost loyal customers!
What a nice change!! The restraint itself has a modern twist on the usual beach theme. The food...Where do I start?!?! Asian/American fusion. My husband and I visited on Friday May 27th and were thoroughly impressed! We decided to order the Pu Pu Platter for an appy since it provided a nice variety of choice from the appetizer section. The fried calamari was like butter! The chicken teriyaki steamed dumplings delicious and the fried veggies were so tasty. And on a side note, this platter was suppose to have a goat cheese option, however I do not like goat cheese. I asked he waitress if we could substitute with extra dumplings or calamari. She checked with kitchen and it was not a problem. They didn't even charge extra like some places do-their ability to accommodate was impressive and an added bonus! That night they had a lobster ravioli with pesto and balsamic glaze entree topped with fresh bruschetta. OMG! It was insanely delicious ! I didn't miss the traditional red or pink sauce. It was light and filling and full of so much flavor. Unfortunately we were completely stuffed so dessert was not an option ..
We already have plans of returning with friends. This is a wonderful place and worth every dollar spent!
Cool looking place. We were seated in the pub-style area with the bar, although it was disappointing hat on a sunny evening with 70-plus-degree weather that the outside dining wasn't available. Food was awesome, their kitchen crew is very talented. My only complaint is that service, while prompt, is WAY too casual. I don't know if the aim for the atmosphere is for hipster or club, but at the prices that are charged I expect a little more professionalism.
3 of us had 3 separate dinners stuffed shrimp, salmon, and tuna. We would not recommend any of those. They were just luke warm and the seafood did not taste fresh. The service was extremely slow and the place was empty. Choose the place down a few doors down (Spanos) much better!
Normally Mother's Day is a nightmare with overbooking and huge crowds. 709 had a nice flow and was NOT overbooked which made the meal extraordinary! Food was very good but it seems like every time we go there it gets more funky which can tend to turn some people off.
Our server Jessica was excellent-very attentive....
My fiancé and I have been here many times. There has not been one thing on the menu that we did not enjoy. The service is amazing and great drink list that changes every season. I am a big sushi fan and all the sushi is so fresh but they have so much that it's great for everyone.
I figured that I'd choose a nice place like yours to go to on a holiday (President's Day) for lunch when my wife and I came down to the shore area to visit my parents for the day, who are staying down in Manasquan temporarily. We were seated immediately and greeted fine, but then it went down from there from a service point of view. There was practically no one in the restaurant, maybe about a half dozen or so when we walked in. So for 4 drinks (3 mixed drinks and 1 beer), it took 15 minutes. That to me was strike 1. We ordered the appetizers a short time later when we all finally got our drinks, and 2 appetizers that we were all sharing took almost a half hour to get to the table. And we did not want to give the entire order in to the server when we ordered the apps, because of the amount of people in the restaurant we thought that the entrees would come out like 5 minutes later. Well low and behold, our 4 lunch entrees took almost a full hour to come out to the table. The server was so embarrassed that he had to bring out some complimentary pretzels with mustard just to give us something to eat. The lunch entrees finally came, and 3 of the entrees were fine, but after waiting almost an hour, my Mom's burger was overcooked...and she just dealt with it rather than telling the server, because she figured it would be another half hour by the time that she got a new burger. This should have a day that should have been flawless, being in the middle of the winter with hardly anyone in the restaurant...but it definitely wasn't. I would not even want to see what happens here at the height of the shore summer season...as I would imagine that you must get many complaints about your service. Thus as a result, myself or no one in my family will ever dine in your restaurant ever again.
We love this place - THey are pressed for service - the last two times we have been there we had reservations but still waited a while. The hostess wasn't very friendly and when we finally got seated nobody came to our table for at least 25 minutes until I flagged someone down. Then the lovely server who I flagged down said that she was going to replace our waitress and lucky us because she was awesome. Fun and nice and got everything right. From here on out everything was DELICIOUS and wonderful. One thing that blew my mind was that the shrimp was 5 dollars per piece in shrimp cocktail! This is at the beach LOL
709 is a great example of a place whose overall value/worth is more than any one of the parts per se. The service is good and friendly but the servers could be given a few more lessons in the finer points. The food menu really has something for everyone, with lots of sandwiches, pizzas, salads, main courses, and a whole page of sushi which appears very popular from the number of people ordering it. 709 attracts many people from Point Pleasant and all the neighboring towns but should also do a great business when the Jersey beaches are in their prime.
