700 Drayton at The Mansion on Forsyth Park Ratings and Reviews
While the food is always good, but the past two time I have been the service has made me feel ignored. Only once were we offered a refil on coffee, never on coke and the server never came back to ask us how are food was or if we needed anything else. It’s a bit pricey just for basic breakfast food.
Been here multiple times for great dinners. Brunch was underwhelming. Menu is boring and can be found anywhere in Savannah at far less pricey places. I arrived on time to meet with friends and was quickly seated, however, friends were a bit late and I waited at the table for nearly 15 minutes before I was offered a cup of coffee. Once my friends did arrive, the service was quite good. Now if they would just fix the menu.
wonderful shrimp and grits and the burger was excellent too. The shrimp was fresh and prepared perfectly. Service was excellent. It is a nice environment. We went for brunch but dinner would have also been amazing. It is right across the street from forsythe park and some areas had a view of the park. The sunroom was beautiful. I wish I could take home all the paintings. There was a beautiful wood room with a fireplace and I'm not sure if they use it for regular dining or special occasions but it was so cozy I could see someone going for a romantic evening in that space. You pretty much can't go wrong wherever you sit. It is just a beautiful venue.
This was our final meal in Savannah! The Mansion concierge was kind enough to store our luggage while we went next door to have breakfast. We were informed that we could not order a mimosa (or any alcohol until after 12:30). Not their fault. It's the law! My meal came out right. Egg white omelette was delicious. Several other orders at our table were delivered with problems.
The server was apologetic but most of the problems were not her fault. We were disappointed in the experience overall. They were not that busy so the kitchen should have done better.
I want to start with the positives: the food was AMAZING. My wife ordered the pan roasted salmon with the lemon butter sauce, and I ordered the blackened grouper with remoulade. We both agreed it was the best fish we ever had.
The service was, OK. We aren't big spenders - we didn't order drinks or appetizers, and I personally felt a bit ignored. At one point we had to ask to have our water pitcher refilled (why are the cups so small?) Also, our waitress didn't come check on us until AFTER we had already finished the food. Fortunately, we didn't have any issues, otherwise it would have been a much different experience.
The prices are high - $30 for a piece of fish. While the fish was amazing, I'm just used to getting a little something with my entree for that price point. Even a simple side like rice would have made it feel like I was getting a little more bang for my buck. I'll admit, we don't often eat at fancy restaurants, and maybe we should have been more aware of what exactly is included.
We probably won't be back any time soon, but that is just because Savannah has so many places to offer, and we want to try them all. All of this said, we would definitely recommend the place.
The Mansion is a lovely hotel and this restaurant is a delight to find. Located across from Forsyth Park, it is situated in a beautiful place in Savannah. The menu is varied and excellent and the staff is very gracious and attentive. We enjoyed our evening here with our friends very much.
Four of us arrived for our 7:00 reservation and were seated. After a while, a server brought menus and took drink orders. At that time, we ordered a salad and a bowl of seafood chowder. They did not have the wine that my wife wanted from their list and a different bottle was ordered. When my Knob Creek bourbon arrived, I noted to the waiter that it looked like a light pour. He responded that that was all that was left in their last bottle.
Short version, an hour and a half later we left having never seen our dinner orders. The manager explained that they had two large parties to serve. I suggested that they not take reservations that they can't serve.
After some back and forth, she comped part of our bill for the drinks, salad and soup and hoped we would come again. Not in this lifetime! There are just too many good restaurants in Savannah to have to put up with another spoiled evening.
We had brunch reservations for 11:15.. arrived on time, actually a few minutes early.
Didn't order coffee just waters, we loved the atmosphere and the menus seemed delightful.
Table of two next to us placed order after us, ate, payed and left as we waited for almost an hour.
We were told multiple times that our food was on it's way, the last update started with an apology followed by "the food is being plated now". We waited another 5 minutes before leaving.
For the price point, it wasn't worth the wait. Especially after seeing the other reviews.
If you're a tourist, and looking to spend your time and money wisely in Savannah- Look elsewhere.
Lots to see and eat---
Perhaps the dinner is better at 700 Drayton.
This was our 13 year anniversary. I Made notes through open table. No one said anything about it. Had to physically look for server 3 times. Then he had an excuse claiming someone walked out on a tab. Which I know was a lie. I could see the front and side door. No one was in a rush to leave. Had to get a dessert menu from the busser. Just overall the worst experience for an anniversary.... I would recommend a shady bar over this place...
Brunch at a window table overlooking the park. Food is consistently good - shrimp and grits, smoked salmon crostini and seafood chowder, peach salad with chicken. And all were generous portions. Can'r go wrong here, especially for breakfast/brunch.
My husband and I were visiting from Atlanta, and we were blown away by the service, atmosphere and food. Our server was there for everything we needed. They even closed a pocket door to our room to control noise from a large private party. The dinner was exceptional and we will be back!!
Could not find my reservation. Seated in a hallway, with a parade of obnoxious drunks from a wedding party parading through on a regular basis. The server was completely distracted by another party. Only redeeming feature was the food, which was great. When you pay $150 for a meal, it is not just about the food. I would not recommend this restuarant to anyone. If I owned it, I would fire the manager.
