Always a great evening of dining! Thank you Justin and Alisha for taking care of us!
We always enjoy 626, mainly for special occasions, as it is a touch pricey. The wine list is varied and the staff are knowledgeable and willing to work with the customer in pairing wine and the meal. My wife was excited about the little Happy Birthday touches 626 is willing to add.
626 on Rood is an excellent dining experience. We were in Grand Junction for a night, staying downtown, and didn’t want a run of the mill meal. 626 definitely delivered an awesome meal. We had the crudo, the sticky peach habanero calamari, the swordfish and the maple pecan pie. Everything was spectacular. My favorite was probably the calamari. I loved the wine flights. The only menu related shortcoming was the beer selection. It’s also pretty pricey for Grand Junction but I didn’t mind since the food was sooo good.
Quality and creativity of food was very good. The server was a bit too full of himself and detracted from the dining experience.
Another outstanding meal at this downtown Grand Junction gem. The food is fresh, flavorful, and inventive. We split the full rack of Colorado lamb which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a creative cabbage gratin. The served made a great wine recommendation for this dish. We love this place and find reasons to come back often!
Just the atmosphere I was looking for. Wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable. Good was amazing. Can’t wait to go back
Birthday. They print a menu with your name on it. The food is always top notch. The chef wrote out the dressing recipe for their special salad for my wife. Waiter Dustin was the best. Everyone made our evening fantastic!!
We always dine at 626 when we are in Grand Junction.
Our server was very attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals! The Downtown Restaurant Week menu was great!
Nice staff, great food but seriously overpriced. Tables too close to each other so you can conversations going on next to you.
As always, 626 Rood has very good, creative food. Their wine list is the most extensive in the Grand Valley, and you can sample "flights" of 3 small glasses each. They are one of the few high-end restaurants in the Grand Valley, so their food and wine is pricey. That said, on Sundays and Mondays, you can get oysters-on-the-half shell for $1 each!
Oh, and if you are checking them out during the inaugural Downtown Grand Junction Restaurant Week, 3/19-3/25/2018, you must order from the special Restaurant Week menu to get the stamp on your Restaurant Week Passport.
Thank You 626 ! We’ve always had great dining experiences with you. But our daughter’s 21st birthday dinner was truly exceptional! Including a personalized menu signed by the staff was such a great touch, she will keep that to help her treasure the memory of a wonderful night!
First time there and the food was great! As a non-drinker I was a little intimidated by the “wine bar” part of the name but really glad I finally tried it. We will be back!
Loved everything!! Wish we could have had a booth versus the small 2 top but still enjoyed immensely ! Great server, Angelina? Ask for her. Clever wine flights and great calamari
Very nice place and the service outstanding.
It was very placent.
Love this place! It consistently brings a great dinner every time!
Just a great place for unpretentious yet fine dining. The food is excellent with the exception of the paella. It is tasty but not on par with true Spanish/Cuban paella. We will definitely return to explore other entrees.
Extremely loud. Very small table. Tables very close together. Portions are small. Wine flight selections were good. Lamb was fatty.
Drinks are amazing, as is the service. Food is ok, not quite worth the price point. My fish had no flavor, so I requested salt, and received these hige salt chunks that were useless as seasoning. They were literally crunchy salt bombs in my mouth, and very unpleasant. However, love, love, love the staff!!! They definitely pride themselves on top notch service!
We go out of our way to dine at "626" when we are in Grand Junction. The food is VERY special & we enjoy sharing a variety of taste treats, which the menu makes easy. The service is also very special & adds to the fun - creating an array of dishes that would flow well with one another, help with wine-pairing. It is a "special occasion" place for us, well worth the expense.
Always excellent food and service. Love this restaurant
The only thing that bothered me was a noisy birthday group but I think diners should be willing to put up with the occasional happy crowd. So good experience, very good wait staff and excellent food.
626 on Rood has the biggest and broadest wine selection of any restaurant in Grand Junction. The food is New American with an emphasis on local Western Colorado sourcing. The portion sizes and pricing attract an older upscale clientele. It's in the top 3 for my date restaurants in GJ.
Fabulous restaurant. Excellent menu of local and specialty foods, perfectly prepared. They did some special treatment for our birthdays with custom menu and lavender lemon creme brulee. The wine selections are excellent. The service was superb. My dietary restrictions are pretty extensive and our server knew the ingredients and how the food was prepared and recommended substitutions. I also like that dinner is available at 300pm. We traveled over an hour to the restaurant so it's nice to have an early dining option. I had the lamb and it was perfectly prepared. My friend had swordfish loin and it was excellent. The side dishes at 626 are always special. The cabbage potato gratin was fantastic and so were the roasted veggies. The kohlrabi and spaghetti squash were also excellent.
Food great, but expensive. Portions are too large.
The waiter was rushed and did not fully explain what was on the menu . Over charged us for our drinks. The fish special that my husband received was not lightly breaded in Panko as the waiter stated and it was cold. I doubt if we will go back . They sat us at a crappy table and served others before even taking our drink order. We will not be returning and will be telling our friends about our experiences.
This restaurant never disappoints. From appetizer through dessert, the selections are creative and delicious. And the wine selection is the best in town - collected into flights or singly for you to decide. The waitstaff is engaged and knowledgeable about the meal preparations and eager to help you make decisions. The atmosphere is comfortable and stylish. This is the gem of the Western Slope.
The food was outstanding, especially the Big Eye Tuna egg rolls. And the Bulliet rye old fashioneds with cherries marinated in brandy were perfect. The ambiance is convivial but not necessarily intimate. I think it's expensive--we paid about $160 for dinner, including 3 drinks and 1 dessert--but worth it for a special occasion, New Year's Eve in our case. Our only problem was with Open Table. It claimed that the time closest to 5 pm available for dinner was 3:45. When we arrived, the place was empty and tables were available until almost 5.
We got to 626 on Rood whenever we pass through town because the owners and their restaurant are true gems!
Great food, great service as always. Could wish for a little more variability in menu, but there is a bit seasonally.
Another delicious meal at 626 on Rood. The Big Eye tuna egg rolls with wasabi creme fraiche were awesome! Highly recommended. We split the wagyu beef burger with a side of truffle and Grana Padano cheese fries and an order of paella. Yummy. Great wine list. We love to share a bottle of The Arsonist red blend. And we took a pecan pie for two to go! Late night delicious dinner for two. Tastefully decorated for Christmas/holidays. Brenda & Theo never disappoint!!! Love this place. Worth the 6 hour drive and an overnight stay!
Perfect as always. Great anniversary or birthday spot.
626 on Rood is a great local place where they serve outstanding oysters daily. The oysters are featured at a discount on Sundays and Mondays. It is well worth visiting for a foodie. The wine list is impressive and features unique and wines sampled for here to for remote regions.
This was a great find. The food and service were excellent. We are anxious to also try Happy Hour and the menu.
Another fabulous anniversary dinner here! The service and food are top notch. Love the wine flights and that cheese plate is no joke! The lemon lavender creme brûlée given to us on the house to celebrate was delicious as always! Can’t wait to be back! It was great seeing you all again.
We were there for THANKSGIVING and the food was ok but not special. The stuffing/dressing was extremely oversalted. The food was just warm. The vegetables were a bit overlooked and I think Brussels sprouts might have been a better choice than broccoli which gets mushy when cooked too long. We each got a nice to go box which was appreciated. I will try eating there again.
Great date night. Fresh Oysters inexpensive, with a wonderful shrimp polenta and pear salad.
Fresh fish of the day was grilled to perfection and paired well with suggested wine.
A relaxing enjoyable dinner made even better by an attentive server.
Lovely meal for a night on the town. Our server was excellent and had great information regarding the entrees and appetizers. Would recommend to a friend.
Outstanding ! The menu is incredible. Wine selection is great. Can't miss this experience. Great use of local ingredients by the season.
Servers excellent, food excellent--local and creative, wine list extensive. My happy place in Grand Junction. Only downside is lack of privacy at tables--no booths.
This exceeded our expectations. Great food. We all had something different and we were all delighted. Highly recommend
