53 by the Sea
We sure lucked out to have a very lightly occupied restaurant on Marathon Sunday, and the most clear, sunny, beautiful day ever! The ocean views were spectacular! The service was 100% better this time than it was in October!
I ordered the Asian style oxtail cooked in sweet soy sauce. Some pieces were soft, some tough, & could have used some kind of a sauce. Also, the few pieces of shaved carrots seemed to be an afterthought to add color to the plate, but were horribly dried out & tasteless, why not serve with baby carrots or pieces that one could bite into?
Husband ordered scallops and linguine, it was delicious.
Affogato dessert and lava cake were delish. I really miss that Muddy Buddies aren't offered anymore.
Our server wasn't very personable and it was kinda weird having five different people popping up to spiel the food. There was a pillar blocking my view. The food is amazing though.
Great view, good took an hour to arrive after ordering. Food was just a little boring and bland. We had a variety of orders and we all felt the same. For the price it should have been much better. It lacked seasoning, like the chef was too conservative. Huge wine line but far far over priced.
The service and the support I received before going to 53 by the Sea was EXCEPTIONAL & EXCELLENT! Erin, Josel, & Jordan (and many of the other staff) made the night so special. I asked for a family-style menu with some of their best dishes (seared opah, ribeye, lobster roll, pavlova, thai affogato, etc.) and they were so professionally accommodating. Everything was so delicious. The Christmas music performed live was outstanding. The view was to kill for. I will definitely go to this FIRST-CLASS, TOP-NOTCH restaurant again. By far, the BEST restaurant experience I have ever had! You must experience it for yourself!
Very happy with the service and ambiance of the restaurant.
Excellent food, service and environment. Beautiful building.
Amazing food fabulous service
Awesome experience for our anniversary!
Loved the lobster roll appetizer. Really liked the mushroom rissotto that came with the scallops. The scallops were a bit salty - both in the appetizer and the restaurant of the week specialty. Mahi mahi was a bit over cooked.
Best views in waikiki to see diamond head and surfers. Loved noly paa at the piano on fridays. You can see waikiki fireworks as well. Food delicious. Beautiful atmosphere.
Absolutely stunning view of Diamond Head and the ocean while you dine! The food was fantastic, service was impeccable, and I cannot wait to go back!
The scenic view was enhanced by the sunny day. Noise level is low and tables sufficiently spaced to add to the ambiance of private dining. Ordered the Restaurant Week special which was a great value. The short ribs were dry and perhaps a sauce would have provided more flavor. Chowder and lime tart dessert were delicious. Service was attentive. The one downside which called for the 3 stars was that there were several flies in the dining room, not just one but 2 or 3. Waving off flies distracted from eating.
We were seated next to the window with the panoramic view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We both ordered the fixed price menu for Honolulu's Restaurant Week and were very pleased with the presentation and quality of the food. Service was good although a bit slow. The attention to detail and the flavors of each dish was excellent.
Most elevated food experience
always enjoy 53 By the Sea. Their service is always on point and welcoming. The ambiance are spectacular as always!
Best dinning experience in our Hawai’i vacation
I went with my friend to have lunch. Thank you very much for accommodate my request.
We had a delicious meal and great experience! We decided on 53 by the Sea because of Restaurant Week. Definitely worth it! We were placed at a couples table that faced the ocean. The view was beautiful! The chair was a little sunk in but that didn’t take away from the great service and delicious food!
Came here for the restaurant week menu and was very impressed all around. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. After dinner my bf and I went outside on the lanai (with a drink in hand) and took in the beautiful view. Will definitely be back.
Restaurant week menu was very tasty!
It’s our favorite restaurant, food is great and excellent service as usual, will go again.
Restaurant Week 2019 ~ this was a disappointment. Fish was over cooked and under seasoned. Short ribs were dry and tough. Have a seafood allergy, they would not accommodate by serving a different soup. I figured for a restaurant of their caliber, they’d run willing to accommodate an allergy. The best part of the meal was the beautiful view, lavash and dessert. Will not be going back to this reata
Server was good but we waited an hour for our food and it wasn’t even busy. Like on a previous visit, the food was not impressive - over cooked and hard. Beautiful restaurant, but wont be back.
Kick off to restaurant week was fantastic. The appetizer soup special was amazing. So flavorful I wish I could have had more. My aunt and grandmother had the spare ribs...they were absolutely wonderful. Melt off your fork and so flavorful. I had the fish...it was a bit overcooked but still tasty. Lilikoi tart for dessert was pleasantly refreshing, great for lunch. Overall we had a great time.
Beautiful setting, excellent food and service.
we married here, NOV 16th,2016.
we are so glad to go 53 by the sea.
I will be back!!
The food was delicious and the service was good, could be a little more attentive to what’s going on on the table. I understand a lot of people like time to talk to the others on their table but servers should keep looking for talking or lack of it and if beverages and bread need to be refilled. I really enjoyed the ambiance and great food, presentation and explanations of what was being served. It was a full fine dining experience and overall, they did a good job. I will especially recommend this restaurant for romantic dinners. It has the best view of Diamond head and the ocean. Amazing view.
I used to be a regular at John Dominis and amazingly had not yet visited 53 by the Sea despite the numerous positive reviews. After having dinner there this past Saturday night with my girlfriend, I can honestly say it is in my top 5 restaurants on the island. I have dined at Mavro's, Roy's Waikiki, and Vintage Cave Club and 53 by the Sea is definitively in that class of dining experiences. The 7 course tasting menu is phenomenal and my girlfriend, who is a wine enthusiast, thoroughly enjoyed the amazing wind pairings.
What can you say about 53BTS? Its a wonderful value for lunch One of the best views in Honolulu. Consistently excellent food. Impeccable service. Their prix fixe menu is an excellent value. And they were very accommodating to my guest who had a food intolerance. Our waiter made some menu suggestions and minor alterations. She was able to enjoy a fabulous meal and felt she was treated as a valued guest.
An exceptional place for beautiful memories & great food too! The wonderful staff took care of us from beginning to end.
My fiancé and I can in last night for our anniversary. The food was spectacular and atmosphere was wonderful. Our server however, was not knowledgeable about the food, uninvolved, and gave us little attention. When asked about food he recommended he gave one worded answers like good and fantastic without going at all into detail about anything. I’m not sure of his name but he was younger Caucasian man with brown hair. I am also a server at a upper-scale /casual restaurant and the service we provide was by far better than the service my fiancé and I were given at 53. There was however this nice young man I believe his name was Stephan that came and delivered our dessert, he gave us a much for pleasant attitude and brought a much more warming presence than our main server. Overall the the food was fantastic and the best ribeye I ever had! All together still had an amazing night.
Loved it. Just wished it was not so expensive so we could eat here more often. 4x year.
The food was over the top fantastic and the service was even better. Great prices for quality of food, ambiance and service.
Service was horrible yesterday, it appeared to be only one waiter working & no team to help! I had to summon the manager to place our order, then it took FOREVER to get our check.
It was noted we were celebrating a birthday on Open Table & acknowledged when we checked in, but we
did not receive any birthday dessert.
Our favorite lunch selection has always been the crustaceon sandwich, but now the portion of seafood is very skimpy and the slices of bread are ridiculously too thick. The jidori chicken is still prepared well & always juicy & yummy.
