53 by the Sea
Ambiance and food were excellent! People who worked at the restaurant were wonderful and helpful!!
Too expensive for the value, i don't wanna come back again.
As soon as you drive up, enter the grand foyer and greeted by the hostess Everything just gets better. Chef Goetz custom preparation of our request was amazingly delicious. The highlight of our fine dining on Oahu.
The attention to detail from start to end made the experience unforgettable.
Awesome overall! Great food, great view and awesome service
We had lunch at 53 By the Sea after getting married on the beach. Staff was so helpful and made the day’s experience very enjoyable!! Food was delicious and the presentation beautiful.
A beautiful view, wonderful service and amazing food! Loved every single minute at this place.
Excellent degustation menu
Beautiful view with delicious dining choices! I love bringing my friends and family here!
Such an amazing staff they helped my now FIANCÉ with the proposal I can’t wait to come back and eat there again thank you so much
We had an outstanding dining experience.
From entry of the restaurant to exit it was wonderful. Location has a beautiful view of water with Diamond Head in the distance. Food presentation and taste was exquisite. Servers were all refined and pleasant. I wasn’t feeling well so didn’t finish my meal and they took it off the bill. They didn’t have to do that but that’s the kind of people they are. Will definitely go back.
always love dinning at 53 by the Sea. Delicious foods, excellent service, and amazing views.
Everything was awesome except for our waiter. He barely came to our table as he was more preoccupied with the tables that had the Japanese tourists. We got more service out of the nice woman taking our plates and glasses away, and our food runner. The woman taking our plates and glasses was also more knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. As our waiter simply read the menu, which we could easily do ourselves. Forget his name, but some Filipino guy with slicked back hair with buzzed sides and a terrible mustache. I think he would be better serving at a better place as he brings down the prestige of the restaurant.
Consistently good food and ambience.
Great service and the food was tasty. It seemed to be darker than I'd prefer, but that's very minor.
The view was spectacular. Service impeccable. Food & cocktails superb. All for a surprisingly affordable dinner.
The food was good, the only one thing that I wasn't quite happy about was one of the table was talking very loud. That table was 10 feet away from my table and I can clearly hear their conversation.
Service was excellent from top to bottom. They have booths for parties of 2, overlooking the pacific. Lobster roll, scallops and 21 day dry age steak were all on point. Great spot to celebrate a special occasion!
Fabulous evening...Matt, our server did a great job! We enjoyed all the items we ordered.
The view of Diamond Head is spectacular and the cuisine is off the Richter!!!
Not busy but the wait staff, while being nice people, couldn’t get the delivery of our needs met in a timely manner
Great servers and timing was perfect. What a view of diamond head. Will visit again.
Everything was wonderful but it can be pricey. Go to lunch instead of dinner. Be sure to take a pik with Diamond Head in the background.
The food was great
Great ambiance, bad food, decent service
It has been a while since we have been to this restaurant so we thought we would celebrate my birthday there. The last time I recall the menu was heavily Italian influenced. This time around the menu was more Asian fusion and sourced local ingredients which was a nice change. I started with the oysters with caviar and then ordered the seared fish. My husband ordered the peppercorn crusted filet which was fired to perfection. All in all, it was a nice cozy dinner with a lovely view of the city.
Best dinning experience I've ever had. My fiance and I went to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing. Will definitely be returning at some point. Staff was amazingly helpful and kind
Very beautiful restaurant in an unusual part of town. I never would have guessed it was there. Dining was very elegant as was the attire of Servers, bartenders and hosts. It was supposed to have a dress code for fine dining attire, however men still showed up in Shorts and aloha shirts. It was kind of tacky given how 90% of those there were dressed appropriately. Must have been tourists with few clothing choices. The table next to us was loud and someone’s cell phone rang and they took the call and talked for a minute or two. Still, very annoying but not as annoying as the tourists who kept walking past our table to open the large patio glass door to admire the view and take pictures. The view was beautiful, but please don’t disturb people that are dining. Other than rude people/diners, the restaurant was beautiful, the service was truly what fine dining is suppose to be. I would recommend it and I am planning on returning. I’m just going to to ask not to sit by the sliding door.
We celebrated my parents 65th Anniversary. It was a wonderful evening with superb service, classic menu and the best view in all Honolulu- recommend the seafood appetizer- although costs about $75, it is delightful and something to enjoy - the presentation is as wonderful as the taste. Thanks for a beautiful evening;).
I wish that the food on the lunch menu could be included in the dinner menu too
It was a very disappointing anniversary dinner for us. Service was excellent but food was disappointing. First they changed their menu a few weeks ago and everything we were looking forward to ordering was not there. We were going to do 2 orders of their surf & turf with the whole lobster and asked for 1 of the orders to be medium rare, was told that the lobster, because it is precooked, would be more medium to medium well. So we ordered only 1 and ordered something. When the surf & turf came out, the filet was ok but the losbter that they said would be medium to medium well was rare to medium rare which the person who was eating it was hoping for it to come out the way the waitress had said. We also ordered the lamb, medium rare and it came out medium well. Was asked if we wanted another one cooked, but never got it. I guess our waitress did not hear us say that we wanted a new order of lamb, they did take that off our bill but dinner was just not as enjoyable as we had hoped for. I believe it will be a while before we go back or if we go back at all. This was a favorite restaurant for us prioyto our recent dining there.
I'm glad that I didn't view the menu or read any reviews before making the reservation. If I had done either, I would not have made the reservation. The drive isn't encouraging as you pass through more than one homeless camp. You are greeted in the parking lot and provided free valet parking. The entrance is impressive as you pass through huge doors to enter a foyer with an impressive staircase that should be in movies. The view once you get around the staircase is even better. The hostess was not overly friendly and asked us to take a seat as we had arrived early for our reservation as opposed to offering a seat at the bar as an option. We did make it to the bar. The bartender was not familiar with their liquors and had to be directed to the bourbon requested. We were soon seated at a window table with an impressive view of Diamond Head. The poor reviews were either for poor service or poor food quality, but not for both. All I can say is that both the service and the food were exceptional. I had the Chef's Degustation Menu with wine pairing and most everything was delicious. The only item that was less than exceptional was the tenderloin. It was edible at best. My wife started with the Crispy Lobster Kataifi Roll which was well prepared (the lobster was not over cooked) and delicious. We will be ordering that again. She enjoyed the pasta dish she ordered for the main course, but was not nearly as impressed as she was with the Kataifi Roll. The service was attentive and the pace of the meal was perfect. To summarize, we had great food and great service. We are not in a position to make this a regular dinning choice, but will definitely be back.
