529 Wellington Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed the atmosphere ,food fish of the day was perfect steak good and appreciate by the served to have half and half in the plate before the food arrived at the table because we share the food so we taste, that was nice. The desert perfect.we will be back.Tahnk you.
Atmosphere was lovely. Server was very attentive. Both the mozzarella in the Caprese and the Wellington were quite dry so I wish I had made a different choice, but I expect it was a rare issue. The service is too good to dismiss on a single experience so I will likely visit again.
We were regulars at Hy's for years but they started to "nickel and dime" us for everything and their prices went up significantly. We tried 529 a few times and decided to give it another go and we now go here every other month. Great atmosphere and the service is outstanding. Our only pet peeves are sometimes the rooms can get a little too loud for our liking (people talking WAY too loud when we are trying to have a quiet conversation over dinner). And this last visit (Valentine's Day) our steak came out a little too rare but the server took it back to us to get a bit more time on the grill. Overall a great experience.
What a beautiful place! From the style of the house (which my wife and I were welcome to explore while our table was being set), to the welcoming and warmth of the knowledgeable staff, to the great food, this place was amazing on all levels. Already looking forward to going back.
My girlfriend and I went to 529 Wellington for valentines day. The restaurant itself was beautiful, everything was tidy and clean. The tables and rooms had a great setting, the employees were all friendly and our server was amazing. They also helped us with picking out our food as it was our first time at this restaurant. The only thing that partially ruined the experience was how loud the people were in our room. My girlfriend and I said "I can't hear you" more then we said anything else. This took place until those tables received the food they ordered which took close to the same amount it took for us to get ours. The time waiting for the food was an average time, but felt like forever with the people around us not even being asked to lower there voices in any way. We couldn't understand how the common courtesy of using your inside voice wasn't in everyone else's head as it was in ours. I don't doubt it's not a common experience at this restaurant but it has made me not want to risk going there again for another special evening. It was not as we expected, we barely had any time to have a conversation...
Prices had gone up more than considerably since we were last there for dinner. Food was very good; however, one of the steaks was undercooked (rare... instead of medium rare) and although this was acknowledged by the waiter, there was no perk in consideration of having to take it away and cook it further. I would have expected more from a restaurant of this caliber.
Flew in Toronto for a Winnipeg jets game and decided to treat ourselves. The wine selection was top notch and the cuts of meat were absolutely gorgeous. More than we would spend for an average night but absolutely worth every penny. If we're ever back in Winnipeg we will definitely be going to 529 Wellington again
The food, especially the steaks and prime rib, are always good. The Caesar Salad was just perfect. The steaks were good as usual. My lamb chops were just a bit too fatty but still tasty. The service is always very attentive. The wine list is superb but very expensive. They mark up the wines 2.5 -3.0 times which is truly unnecessary. That is my only complaint. The restaurant is
overpriced for what it is.
We went for lunch on our anniversary; our waiter Rod was very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly, provided excellent service and offered unique suggestions for my wife, who was seeking gluten free options. He even asked the kitchen staff to remove the crust off the cheesecake at dessert time so that she could enjoy the daily special.
This will definitely be a favorite place for us in the future!!!
Celebrated my wife's significant birthday for supper. Elegant restaurant specialises in steaks and seafood. Extensive wine selection. Food and service were excellent, though pricey. The hostess took a great photo that is posted. In summer, brunch on the patio is a great experience.
Great for lunch, nice music and you can hear what your company is saying! Fantastic service from the time you come in till you leave! 529 Wellington has the best onion soup in Winnipeg not salty and has the right traditional cheese for a onion soup. The turkey sandwich was very tasty with very good dressing and good portions.Beautiful atmosphere ,tables are spaced well spaced out that you do not feel like you are too close to other groups of people.
Excellent evening in a warm, cozy room. Roger delivered excellent service and was attentive and friendly. Thank you! A bit disappointed in the vegetarian option offered (did not order), as well as the only pasta available being "macaroni noodle" with which to make a veg pasta dish. Overall, a very enjoyable evening, celebrating birthdays and a university graduation.
Service & experience is always amazing! Although this time around they really screwed up our steaks as mine (which I asked for as rare) came pretty much to medium, almost medium well. My grilfriend's ended up coming out bloody rare, with a pool of blood on her plate after the first cut while she likes her steak on the light pink medium side. Aside from that, food and service is usually good.
I had the unique experience of being a vegetarian at a steakhouse. The vegetarian plate is just ok: it features mashed potato (I’ve had sweet mash twice, this time it was plain potatoes), red peppers stuffed with chickpeas (a tad dry), mushrooms and asparagus. I don’t know why, but steak places always serve these GIANT stalks of asparagus: don’t they know that young asparagus, while smaller, is so much better/tender? The 529 asparagus was tough and woody tasting. Too bad. On the bright side, for the meat eaters, my husband always gets the pepper steak and he enjoyed it thoroughly, so there’s always that.
Had a wonderful dinner with my husband and daughter. My 11 year old daughter was quite thrilled and over whelmed with the experience. Great ambiance, and very elegant setting. Food was superb and our server was knowledgeable and just an awesome waiter. Was a fantastic evening.
The staff were personable and professional. I didn't feel rushed. The meal was excellent. Presentation seemed classic with a bit of dramatic thrown in that made it fun - yes we ordered The Tower. The atmosphere: It was like stepping back in time. The old girl's charm was not lost when they turned this mansion into a restaurant.
Wine menu was very extensive. We were pleased with everything that we ordered. We had Onion Rings, Steak, Prosciutto-wrapped scallops, asparagus & mushrooms and would order all of them again. The table was a little on the large side for just the 2 of us (it was hard to hear each other because of the loud people at the larger tables next to us) If you are looking for good in-depth conversation over dinner I would not recommend. The hosts/hostesses and our waiter Carl were all very professional and accommodating.
Once again a stellar experience at 529. The service is back up there par (for a period of time they seemed to have reduced the service and it was notable). The Beef Wellington is outstanding so if they have that as the special it is always a home run. I also enjoy their Black Cod in Soy Miran butter - I literally need to stop myself From licking the plate. I think they serve the best Ceasar salad and it is the only place I will order a Ceasar from (I am kinda bored with ceasar salads and this might be because 529 has ruined me for all others) - beef carpaccio and lobster bisque are also amazing. I have to say I’m not a super big fan of their sides - they are all good but I feel pale in comparison to the apps, mains and deserts.... I would recommend the Brûlée or Bread Pudding to finish you meal.
