529 Wellington Ratings and Reviews
Great for lunch, nice music and you can hear what your company is saying! Fantastic service from the time you come in till you leave! 529 Wellington has the best onion soup in Winnipeg not salty and has the right traditional cheese for a onion soup. The turkey sandwich was very tasty with very good dressing and good portions.Beautiful atmosphere ,tables are spaced well spaced out that you do not feel like you are too close to other groups of people.
Excellent evening in a warm, cozy room. Roger delivered excellent service and was attentive and friendly. Thank you! A bit disappointed in the vegetarian option offered (did not order), as well as the only pasta available being "macaroni noodle" with which to make a veg pasta dish. Overall, a very enjoyable evening, celebrating birthdays and a university graduation.
I had the unique experience of being a vegetarian at a steakhouse. The vegetarian plate is just ok: it features mashed potato (I’ve had sweet mash twice, this time it was plain potatoes), red peppers stuffed with chickpeas (a tad dry), mushrooms and asparagus. I don’t know why, but steak places always serve these GIANT stalks of asparagus: don’t they know that young asparagus, while smaller, is so much better/tender? The 529 asparagus was tough and woody tasting. Too bad. On the bright side, for the meat eaters, my husband always gets the pepper steak and he enjoyed it thoroughly, so there’s always that.
Had a wonderful dinner with my husband and daughter. My 11 year old daughter was quite thrilled and over whelmed with the experience. Great ambiance, and very elegant setting. Food was superb and our server was knowledgeable and just an awesome waiter. Was a fantastic evening.
The staff were personable and professional. I didn't feel rushed. The meal was excellent. Presentation seemed classic with a bit of dramatic thrown in that made it fun - yes we ordered The Tower. The atmosphere: It was like stepping back in time. The old girl's charm was not lost when they turned this mansion into a restaurant.
Wine menu was very extensive. We were pleased with everything that we ordered. We had Onion Rings, Steak, Prosciutto-wrapped scallops, asparagus & mushrooms and would order all of them again. The table was a little on the large side for just the 2 of us (it was hard to hear each other because of the loud people at the larger tables next to us) If you are looking for good in-depth conversation over dinner I would not recommend. The hosts/hostesses and our waiter Carl were all very professional and accommodating.
Service was great but slow at the finish. Was done deserts, coffee, and drinks and just wanted the check. Waited a good 10-15 min with empty dishes in front of us. Not the best way to finish the night. Other then that it was an exceptional meal.
Once again a stellar experience at 529. The service is back up there par (for a period of time they seemed to have reduced the service and it was notable). The Beef Wellington is outstanding so if they have that as the special it is always a home run. I also enjoy their Black Cod in Soy Miran butter - I literally need to stop myself From licking the plate. I think they serve the best Ceasar salad and it is the only place I will order a Ceasar from (I am kinda bored with ceasar salads and this might be because 529 has ruined me for all others) - beef carpaccio and lobster bisque are also amazing. I have to say I’m not a super big fan of their sides - they are all good but I feel pale in comparison to the apps, mains and deserts.... I would recommend the Brûlée or Bread Pudding to finish you meal.
The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. To often I go to a top rated restaurant to be disappointed. This place does not. The tenderloin steak is the best I have ever had, and the creme brulee is to die for. If you love wine, be cautious; their wine list is comprehensive.
As always 529 exceeds all of our expectations. This time though, I have to say they topped themselves. We had reservations for a Sat evening. On this evening there was several events planned in the city downtown ( hockey game, Santa Claus parade, a big show with a comedian) needless to say this really messed up traffic with street closures and re-routes. About 3 days before our dinner date, I got a call from 529. They made mention of all the events coming up and the fact that traffic would be re-routed. I really appreciate this extra touch. we were able to plan ahead and get there with minimal discomfort, and enjoy a wonderful meal. It's these little touches that make the difference.
529 was an excellent experience and it's reasonably priced if you split dishes... best of all they didn't seem to mind at all! I've experienced some restaurants that were strict on this so, I really appreciated it.
Everything was so awesome! Rib eye steak, salad, potatoes, broccoli, dessert, had a few drinks too! I highly recommend trying to make it a little more affordable for yourself and going more often... that's certainly our plan!
The ambience is quiet and intimate. The waiter was unobtrusive, yet attentive. The food (especially the beef) was superb. The mahogany wood trim and small dining rooms give the restaurant a warm and genuine feel. I would recommend 529 Wellington for intimate dining for special occasions.
I took my wife to 529 for her 50th birthday. When we were stuck in traffic, they were kind enough to call and ask whether to hold the reservation. Upon arrival, our coats were taken and we were seated promptly. We were shown a wine and drink list, we were also shown the options for a meat dinner. Each cut was explained in terms of flavour, fat content, and recommended temperature. When I selected a wine, the sommelier came over explained a bit about the wine. The dinner was exceptional; excellent flavour and temperature. They treated my wife to a complementary gas of very nice white dessert wine as well. Service was appropriately attentive and very professional, but friendly and not stuffy. The evening was more a dining experience than simply a meal. Well done 529.
