the restaurant was way tooooooo noisy! I would hesitate to go back on a Friday or Saturday night.
The food , from appetizers to desserts, was well presented and tasted fabulous. Very pleased with price considering...
Bread and Cheese plates with Maple butter was amazing. My steak was just average. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely return!
We enjoyed our dinner at 51 Lincoln very much. The bolognese and the cod dishes were both delicious and well prepared. The service was welcoming and professional. Place has a nice ambiance. We will definitely return.
Great meal and overall experience both times I've been to 51 Lincoln. Service is excellent - very attentive, but not intrusive. Food is creative and well prepared.
Excellent overall. A pleasure to dine here!!
We made a reservation for dinner and were promptly seated in aesthetically pleasing space for the two of us. We had the watermelon salad which was a fabulous slowly poached slice of watermelon steak encrusted in spices and topped with a feta and truffle sauce. Devine. Compliments of the chef, we received a croquette that was a mix of potato and bacon encrusted in panko bread crumbs and fried to a crispy golden brown. A niece touch. Delicious. Akin to arancini. Billy, the GM, was well versed in wine. The list had an excellent selection at a reasonable price point. Thank you for assisting us in selecting a wonderful Gamay and Pinot Noir blend Billy. For our dinner selections, we chose the ribeye with a red wine sauce, Cipollini Onions and grilled asparagus. The meat was prepared to my requested medium rare and not over sauced. Devine! My wife chose the pork and mushroom ravioli with pine nuts and kale sauce. Lastly, we did choose dessert. That is a rarity for us. Pistachio ice cream was calling! The best we have ever had. Made on premises. Christina was our server and made our evening enjoyable. She was very attentive without being intrusive. In all honesty, this was the best dining experience we have had since last year. We love to dine. Thanks 51 Lincoln!
We made a reservation but ate at the bar. I had fabulous champagne, my husband had a martini that was amazing. The energy was vibrant, our food was fabulous, the service was personal and attentive despite the restaurant being packed--it was like being "downtown" without being downtown.
Imagine my surprise. I take a good friend out for dinner to celebrate her birthday and i chose 51 Lincoln because of the great food - intersting combonations of fresh food that taste great. Our server overheard me toasting my friend for her birthday and surprised us with a special birthday candle and dessert. Very thoughtful! Certainly over and above what was expected. Just a food example of a place that cares about its customers' experience
51 Lincoln never disappoints. The menu is highly seasonal, locally sourced and always delicious.
Service was great, you could find something you liked on the menu, fish was very tasty.
First impression was amazing. Great service, ambiance and food. I'd recommended it to people I know and can't wait to make another trip to 51 Lincoln.
While we enjoy the food here, we've been twice and both times left feeling like things could have been better for the price. The watermelon steak is a fun novelty, but everything was just "meh". Our son's duck was overcooked in spite of being told that it would be prepared medium, it was more on the well-done side and therefore dry. The pickled beets would have been nice with the pate, which needed a bit more acid. The hamachi was excellent. We noticed several discrepancies between the menu descriptions and the actual presentations, for example, I had the miso-seared cod, which wasn't seared, at least not with miso. There was enough broth in the bottom of the serving (and a runny veg puree), that it really needed to come with a spoon. There were also some spelling errors on the menu. I know that doesn't affect the food, but at this price point and service level, please proofread. What is "dehhyrdated" onion? This time around the entree portion sizes seemed to be better matched than they were on our previous visit. The food is fine, just feel like it's not the special spot that other reviews imply. I think you can do better for your money elsewhere.
Temperature in the restaurant was freezing and it made the food cold. Everyone in the restaurant had their coats on during their dining experience. Fix the furnace!!
Made reservation through open table--which indicated a special "Valentine Days" complete 5 course menu or one could order al a carte from menus. When we arrived, we were told that we could only order from the 5 course menu. Choices were limited ( especially since my wife was allergic to oysters and we were told that there was no bread available because "they did not want to waste unused bread." Instead we were given pickled relish which was not very good.
It was cold outside that evening but equally cold inside --had to eat with our coats wrapped around our shoulders. They said heat was turned all the way up.
Portions were small and price was high for a limited complete menu.
Service took a long time. Waited a long time for our check with no sign of the waiter. Also there was a couple there with a newborn baby. On Valentine's Day. Odd. We ordered the 5 course menu for Valentine's Day. The courses were all edible but nothing to write home about. Might try it again, who knows!
The food and service were very good. Scallops were perfectly done as were the sides. The wine was good but I asked about country of origin and no one got bact to me. Scallop potato stack was excellent as were the pureed turnips.
Food was perfect. Wheat bread with maple butter was excellent. The whole experience was outstanding, especially on a snowy New England night.
Menu changes and is always a good selection. Great drinks and wines. Service always excellent, and reservations usually easy.
One downside after a few different visits...the Chef definitely has a heavy hand with salt - works for somethings but can be overwhelming. I would prefer to add more if I need it.
Drinks were off the charts good as was the bartender and service in general. Overall i found the place very expensive, especially for Newton dining. I have lived on the South End/Back Bay line for the last 11 years so i am used to paying a premium and was surprised. Seems like a great occasion place but not a bite-at-the-bar place. Again, service was A+ and food was very good. I will go again, especially for the new drink making class.
