50 Ocean at Boston's On The Beach Ratings and Reviews
Anniversary requested a window table and was told that afternoon that I had one then arriving on time for our reservation they seated at least two groops of people at the window seats when I inquired why not us they said the hotel takes precedence over us that is really crappy I will never go back! The food was not that good either really ruined my anniversary this was probably the 10th time I have been there and we always went there on our anniversary I am so disappointed.
Very pricey for brunch, which is not buffet and have to order from the menu. Nice that the restaurant overlooks the ocean, but that's why you pay a higher price for the food. We got there at 9:59am and were told we couldn't be seated until the restaurant was open. We were the only ones there and the restaurant opened at 10am. Also, they charge $5 for tea.
I made an open table reservation 2 days prior to my anniversary dinner with my bf and I requested a nice view, it was an anniversary after all and the pics of the restaurant show gorgeous windows with an ocean view. We were seated outside (it's summer and hot) and the music from Sandbar was so loud it completely changed our dining experience. We wanted a romantic evening and that was clearly not happening. We asked to move but we were told they were full, again, I made my reservation days before. Luckily our server Carlos was FANTASTIC or I would have given this place 1 star. He was so apologetic and understood our disappointment. Without him I actually would have complained to management. We love Carlos.
Got there early and had a 7.00pm 4 top reservation. Parked at Valet & it's $8 ... strike 1. Many open tables with a view but Hot Young hostess made us wait 20 minutes for a near the ocean view table. Midway through our meal she seated a 2 top at that same table we requested ! Strike 2. Food wise, it was good quality food just not exciting. When fine dining out I liked to be wowed. Strike 3. Net, net it's a tourist friendly special occasion nice view average food restaurant.
We had an absolutely lovely birthday celebration. Our waitress was very nice, and the food was outstanding. There were delicious choices, very hard to choose what to have for lunch, and you have to have dessert -- the beignets are to die for! We had a lovely table by the window and had a great view of the beach. A lovely, yummy birthday luncheon!!! We're coming back for dinner in a few weeks!!!!
We Love this place however, this time our waiter was not very friendly. It was a birthday and they gave a complimentary dessert but, we ordered cappuccino and grand marnier and he plopped (literally) it on the table without even a happy birthday song and we waited for a good 15 minutes for the cappuccino and grand marnier. Another birthday a few tables down had a staff birthday song. Not that it's a huge deal but, when we spent over $300.00 and tipped him additionally $30 on top of the 18% gratuity I'd say we won't celebrate there again.
50 Ocean has a mellow feel, it quiet with a great view and a terrific place for a delicious lunch. The feed is well prepared and is a complement to business conversations. The staff are courteous but do their work without interrupting the business conversation. The valet parking in the alley is a plus in season.
Jared the manager is the greatest most attentive person I've ever met. Not only was my food to die for the service was exceptional if there was a 10 star rating I'd give it to this place. My food was beautiful and tasty. Well seasoned and delicious. I can't stop raving about the place and Sunday was my first time. I'll be a repeat customer for sure. This place does not disappoint.
Never disappointed eating here. Delicious, beautiful and fun every time. Service is fantastic and food and drinks are consistently delicious. Amazing dessert too. Sat outside with ocean breeze blowing through and music playing next door- loved it as always!!!! Thank you!
Great time at 50 Ocean. Our server was very attentive and the food was very good. Unfortunately they were out of a couple of the fish dishes; i would suggest getting there earlier in the day to prevent this! Steak dish was good. Wine and beer selections (IPA!) were great. Prices were reasonable. Restaurant was calm and comfortable compared to the chaos happening downstairs at Bostons!
The food and the views at 50 Ocean are fantastic. The food, once ordered, came up quickly and everything was prepared perfectly. The service, however, frankly was terrible. The server took our drink orders in a decent time, but at least 20 minutes passed between then and when she came back to take our food orders - while we watched her take the drink AND food orders for two tables (6 and 2) who were seated well after us. Again, the food, once ordered, came quickly and was great. However... we had the exact same experience trying to LEAVE. Another server actually came and checked on us after we were clearly waiting for service for a while. She boxed up our food and our server returned it, saying she would get our check. After another 24 minutes (my girlfriend checked) of watching her serve other customers, and repeatedly walk back by our table, she returned to drop the check... and promptly wandered off, leaving another 5 minutes before she collected the credit card. I don't understand how a restaurant of this caliber can have such atrocious service, and to obvious locals. I would only recommend this restaurant based on the food, which was admittedly fantastic, and actually reasonably priced for the location and the view. But man, the service!
We were seated at a table next to the bar that was set for 8 people - we were 5. We were disappointed in the table location as the restaurant did have open tables that could have better accommodated our party. The server was not that engaged with our group and we found ourselves pouring our own wine and sitting with dirty dishes at our table. Our waiter's first announcements for Saturday night dining at 8:15 were that 4 items on the menu were sold out and unavailable. We ordered and were served in a timely fashion although the quality and presentation of the food was far below the first time we visited this restaurant last fall. Maybe an off night or a clear deterioration but - unacceptable for a dinner that cost nearly $100 PP. We won't be back as there are many other options in Delray on the Atlantic Ave corridor that can provide better food and service at this price level. Disappointed and looking for a better dining experience elsewhere...
I live in the area and always enjoy patronizing local businesses. Overall experience was just O.K.
Reservation honored exactly on time - a plus. Table was totally without a view, and cramped. Restaurant was extremely noisy - conversation was not possible. Without a view of the ocean this place is overpriced.
A truly outstanding experience from start to finish. The quartz bar is beautiful and the drinks were great. They have a wide selection from which to choose. The meal was one of the best ever, from start to finish. We had the coconut grouper nuggets as an appetizer. My wife had the wedge salad which had oranges and melon in it and I had the Caesar salad. For the main course, she had the snapper which came with coconut risotto and I had the grouper which had a glazed crab crust. Appetizers were the beignets for her and the s'mores for me. Every single item was perfect and delicious. Would definitely recommend and we will eagerly be back.
First time I went to Boston's, I loved the mussels and my crab cake sandwich. This time, love mussels again, but the entrees were a bit less wonderful. My husband's had too much coconut (a fish dish). Still, I will go back again when in Delray Beach, because of my first experience which was wonderful. Service is good, and atmosphere is fun too.
We picked Boston's on the Beach because it was recommended by a friend. The food was great. We had one vegetarian who was very happy, one carnivore and one pescatarian, and one who had a number of food issues that were easy to accommodate with their menu.
Smoked fish dip was delicious. Service was pretty good, although, we told the server that we had made a reservation and she informed us that we probably had made a reservation with the upstairs dining room (also called Boston's on the Beach. We were directed to Open Table through Yelp) and that she would let them know that we had, in fact, come to the downstairs venue. Apparently, that didn't happen since I got a no show notice from Open Table that did not make me happy.
Loved sitting outside looking across at the ocean. There was a nice breeze that evening. Overall, a good casual place. They just need to differentiate themselves on Yelp and Open Table.
