50 Ocean at Boston's On The Beach Ratings and Reviews
This was our 5th dinner at 50 Ocean. Unfortunately each visit just didn’t measure up to the cost.
Didn’t get the area of seating where we were promised by the hostess that called us to verify the reservation. This has happened every visit
The dinners were well prepared but extremely small
We ordered the swordfish and I would guess it was 4 to 5 ounces
The wine was extremely expensive and was the same wine Costco offers for one third the price
The noise from the neighboring bar made it impossible to hear our guests
Obviously not 50 Ocean’s fault
I would say this is just not managed to the degree of price
Shame great location
Fantastic brunch with terrific view. Beignets and lobster tacos were delicious! Loved looking out at the beach and water as we dined. Valet parking could have been marked more clearly (it’s behind the building). Interesting and fun photos adorn the walls. Cute aquarium. Nice aesthetic.
Matt served us outside. He was really passionate about the food, and gave us several recommendations which we followed. Both the mussels and the stone crab were fantastic appetizers.
It was very quiet outside, and you can people watch over the sandbar below.
Terrible! Food was good and we were looking forward to a nice dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately a table next to us were doing the same except with a few families and their kids. The parents let their children run around our tables (outside) while they enjoyed their conversations. Ruined ours. When we asked our waitress to please say something or get the manager to say something she left to get the manager. He came to our table and said he “accommodates” all customers. My husband asked if the restaurant’s policy was to accommodate unruly children and he told my husband to stop yelling at him. He was not yelling at all. My husband then said if the policy was to accommodate families that didn’t supervise their children then we wouldn’t be dining here again and would tell our friends the same. The manager again said stop yelling at me and he then left and never spoke to the other table. Bottom line: this is a pricey venue that we chose for a nice evening but young parents who didn’t see the need to supervise their children ruined our evening. They either need to teach their children how to dine with adults or hire a babysitter. We weren’t at a playground or a chuckie cheese. The waitress also sent another waiter to our table to finish our service. Very sad.
Surprised at the experience of this fine dining establishment. First, our three request, "sorry out of this selection". By the third option, we questioned, " you tell us what you have available".
It was my parents 69th anniversary and we selected the location based in me h and noise level. Food ok. Not a good experience
Every time we dine here, we love it! Whether it's for lunch or dinner, it's always a great experience. The happy hour at the bar is a great deal on martinis! The lobster roll had so much meat that it will be enough for dinner again tonight along with the leftover fries. We didn't have it this time but the lobster bisque soup is the best I've ever had!,
I love the location of the restaurant right off the bustling Atlantic Avenue across from the beach. Food is alway excellent. This was my first time having brunch here and I must say it was absolutely delicious. One of my favorite things was the Bloody Mary bar where they provide you with a shot of Grey Goose vodka and the rest is up to you. They have all the ingredients you could want for a Bloody Mary to make it perfect to your liking.
The manager Jared (I hope I spelled it correct) made the whole experience that much better. He was so nice and accommodating to our needs. He was very attentive throughout our service and stopped by the table a few times to make sure everything was fine. These little things go a long way. It makes you feel that your patronage is appreciated and he definitely made us feel that way.
Invited a client and spouse and was delighted with everything about this place. Very special and worth a few extra miles and dollars. Fine dining atmosphere above a beachside bar is unexpected. Mainly seafood but a variety of other choices too. Nice wine list and cocktails. Everyone was pleased.
This is an elegant restaurant on seaside Delray Beach, with a friendly staff, great cuisine and excellent service. The valet service makes it very easy to get to the restaurant which is on a busy street. There was no waiting as we had made reservations earlier. The menu offered a variety of excellent dishes. Our waiter was courteous and prompt, a true professional. All of these contributed to a lovely dinner experience.
Our first visit to 50 Ocean for dinner. Familiar with it as a regular at Savor the Avenue. Mussels and the Florida (?) Spiced Shrimp appetizers are exceptional! Meal was great. Service by Cooper and others was perfect, and still casual. Even a loud neighbouring table of dueling divorce stories could not spoil the evening. Thank you
Good food, but not special. Grouper was fresh and cooked fully (so not very moist) but crab topping was tasty. Wedge salad undistinguished. Service friendly, but seemed to be overloaded, as I didn’t see the wait person often and they forgot to bring bread during the entire meal (though all other tables got it.)
Wine by the glass was out of a caraf so don’t really know what you’re getting. My main issue was the ambiance. They are an upscale restaurant with an ocean view, but the restaurant is above a rather rough sports bar, the view at best is of the street, and the upstairs deck seating overlooks a busy outdoor bar with incredibly loud music. No conversation possible.
I’d pass. There are much better spots on Atlantic Ave a few blocks away.
I loved the phenomenal selection of wine. The server, Chantelle was wonderful and having the Chef come to the table was a very nice extra touch. The manager took care of the heater since we were eating outside and the wind picked up. Hope that I get back to visit this restaurant again. Oh, it was close to the Marriott Hotel, so we were in walking distance.
Great for brunch. The lobster tacos are amazing. You can’t beat the view. Endless mimosas and a great Bloody Mary bar. They are very accommodating for large groups. I’ve had amazing service in the past but on this last visit it wasn’t that great, so just depends on who you get. Definitely worth the trip for brunch!
