50 Ocean at Boston's On The Beach Ratings and Reviews
Excellent service and fabulous meal. Started with the beef tartare, lobster bisque (some of the best I have ever had) and a Caesar salad and then shared the swordfish. A great bottle of wine from their ample list complimented each course. Dinner was followed by house made beignets, cappuccino and a nice snifter of Amaretto. Highly recommend and look forward to returning on our next visit!
JD, John, was an excellent, professional server, who made our dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. He made some spot on suggestions. We are from the U.S., but have travelled much, dined much, and the food here is as good or better than any in Paris or other cities in Europe. We have also been to Hawaii and 50 Ocean has seafood on a par. Their prices are reasonable for the expensive, waterfront property, required for that experience.
We went into dinner with high expectations based on all the great reviews. We were seated on the patio and even though it was a cool evening they had a heater next to us. But the music from the outside bar next door was deafening. We asked to be moved inside but they didn’t have anything available. The music was absolutely obnoxious and ruined our date night vibe. Then halfway through our dinner they moved our heater to another table and left us freezing. We would never go back.
Great brunch. Eaten there twice each time food delicious and excellent service.Few days later noticed that I was charged for an appetizer we never ordered. I called restaurant regarding charge; within minutes manager reversed charge . Very happy that they took care of mistake.
We arrived and were taken immediately to our table
Jared the manager showed us to our table and he was very sweet polite and helpful
The food was delish from Caesar salad and beet salad to short ribs and scallops and the best was the key lime parfait. !! Great place even on a cool night
We had a great time. Imaginative menu, friendly service from the young woman who sat us, to our server, to the manager who stopped by to chat.
The entire meal was delicious especially the double lobster roll. I also loved the little dark chocolate that came with espresso.
Had New Year'e Eve early dinner here! Ate outside on the water! Service and food were wonderful! Servers were attentive but not intrusive and they did not rush as despite the day! It was noisy outside but inside would have been quieter if you prefer that! Great place!
The prime rib was very tough and the mashed potatoes were non-existent. The shrimp were very small in the grilled appetizer. And there wasn't much crab meat in the crab cake sandwich. The overall food was not very good. We dine out often and this was a major disappointment. Our waiter was great as was the view but we won't be back.
The food here is well prepared and presented. The belly clams were shared for an appetizer and there was enough for two. They were excellently prepared. I had the snapper and my friend had the grilled shrimp, both were quite good. The chairs sit a little low for the tables and the waiter offered us pillows which made all the difference.
We felt we were sitting in a hole. The noise level is atrocious. Truly, you need to almost yell for your dining partner to be heard..Or maybe I'm just too old. I would go back for the food and service but not the noise level. Oh well maybe lunch.
Our Waiter was excellent, with a vast knowledge of the Menu. Overall the food was very good, however the kitchen took 1.5 hours to figure out how to get our entrees to the table. The excuse was that they ran out of Gas/energy. It was very nice of them to comp the bottle of wine, but that wasn't enough to make it better. Even if they would have comped the meal, this review would have been the same, Truthful is most important. DON'T even think of going here if it's a busy night or be prepared to wait patiently.
This is hands down our favorite place in Delray!!! Service is always outstanding!! From our first time years ago when we had the now- manager, Jared, as our waiter to the attentive, knowledgeable and friendly Carlos- we have always felt welcomed and pampered at 50 Ocean! And the food is amazing! Good Luck trying to pick from all the delicious and unique choices- our favorite entrees are the Crab crusted Grouper and the snapper over coconut risotto- to die for!!
Our server, Cindy, was terrific. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and helped us make good choices. The mussels were tender, the grouper was savory and the spiny lobster with black spaghetti was very tasty . The apple crumble a la mode was decadent.
The food is good but they do not honor reservation requests. Two times we have been a table of six and asked for a table by the window. Two of our six are go in the same day to make sure the table will be the one we want. When they call to confirm the person again says no problem. When we arrive we are told nothing was noted and we are shown a tables next to a very large noisy group or outside in the back over the loud next outdoor bar/restaurant. This is not an acceptable way to run a finer restaurant that takes reservations and requests. The food is good, but with so many choices, why start a night out with aggravation? We will not return.
This was our 5th dinner at 50 Ocean. Unfortunately each visit just didn’t measure up to the cost.
Didn’t get the area of seating where we were promised by the hostess that called us to verify the reservation. This has happened every visit
The dinners were well prepared but extremely small
We ordered the swordfish and I would guess it was 4 to 5 ounces
The wine was extremely expensive and was the same wine Costco offers for one third the price
The noise from the neighboring bar made it impossible to hear our guests
Obviously not 50 Ocean’s fault
I would say this is just not managed to the degree of price
Shame great location
Fantastic brunch with terrific view. Beignets and lobster tacos were delicious! Loved looking out at the beach and water as we dined. Valet parking could have been marked more clearly (it’s behind the building). Interesting and fun photos adorn the walls. Cute aquarium. Nice aesthetic.
Matt served us outside. He was really passionate about the food, and gave us several recommendations which we followed. Both the mussels and the stone crab were fantastic appetizers.
It was very quiet outside, and you can people watch over the sandbar below.
Terrible! Food was good and we were looking forward to a nice dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately a table next to us were doing the same except with a few families and their kids. The parents let their children run around our tables (outside) while they enjoyed their conversations. Ruined ours. When we asked our waitress to please say something or get the manager to say something she left to get the manager. He came to our table and said he “accommodates” all customers. My husband asked if the restaurant’s policy was to accommodate unruly children and he told my husband to stop yelling at him. He was not yelling at all. My husband then said if the policy was to accommodate families that didn’t supervise their children then we wouldn’t be dining here again and would tell our friends the same. The manager again said stop yelling at me and he then left and never spoke to the other table. Bottom line: this is a pricey venue that we chose for a nice evening but young parents who didn’t see the need to supervise their children ruined our evening. They either need to teach their children how to dine with adults or hire a babysitter. We weren’t at a playground or a chuckie cheese. The waitress also sent another waiter to our table to finish our service. Very sad.
