We frequently stop at 5 Palms for dinner when we’re in town. The view is fabulous and usually the food and service were good. This time, the service was fair. Our table was left messy and dirty between courses. The servers seemed to be having a rough night. We ordered coconut shrimp appetizer which was bland. Our Mahi Mahi was good as was the mud pie. Overall, we were disappointed because in the past, they’ve done a great job of making us feel special and served great food. On top of that, a woman at the table next to ours was obnoxious. She was too loud and I didn’t appreciate having to listen to her opinions when I was looking forward to a quiet dinner with my husband.
food and service disappointing. Food was expensive and quite bland. They served large portions of pretty tastless food. I was not impressed.
service was not exceptional either.. kind of like a coffee house.
for such a beautiful setting i expected better.. a lot better
Food was great. We got there at the peak of happy hour so they were really busy. We wanted items from the sushi table and were warned it would be a while. The wait was very long, probably best to know what you want and order as soon as you sit down. Husband got the eel and said it was fantastic.
We went to this restaurant for breakfast. The view and ambiance are very nice. My first cup of coffee was warm, not hot but the server was very apologetic when it was mentioned and brought me a fresh cup which was hot. I had traditional eggs Benedict which were good. My husband had the crab and cheese omelette. He said the cheese overpowered the crab, which was minimal. Both dishes were served with breakfast potatoes which were luke warm and unappetizing.
Birthday for my wife. Great view and food
One of our favorite places in Maui. Good food and ambience is wonderful.
Would always want to visit 5 Palms when in Maui
Maybe because it was Sunday, it was a nice quiet dinner with great food and service. For us, it was a return visit, as we had stayed at the condo where the restaurant is located before. The seafood dishes we had were well prepared - if any complaint, they were too large. In line with the increased price for condo rental, the meals were a bit pricy. Good cocktails.
Our waiter Brian was great, thanks for the fabulous service!
Mai Tai was watery and service was a bit slow. Having said that it is still one our favorite restaurants on Maui.
5 people at 5 Palms for the early bird fish special. We all enjoyed our food. My mai tai wasn’t great, but the sunset made up for it.
Wonderful evening great food good service great sunset
Yes I would go back
Good food and service. Nice setting.
Got both orders wrong-mahi-mahi instead of ahi tuna and half rack of ribs instead of lamb.
Took $14 off the bill for the errors.
Service was very unattentive. I had to go to the host stand to ask them to take our orders, clear our plates, and bring the bill, all of which are absolutely standard stages of service.
Food was hot and tasty and served in reasonable time. Victoria our waitress was great
First time we have used Open Table
We have been here many times but this visit was a disaster for food, drink and service. 5 Palms has the best location in Wailea so I guess we'll be back and try again, but I'm very worried.
The last thing you would expect is to find a really good restaurant at the back of a condo development but that is what 5 Palms is all about. Check your car and go right in to experience excellent seafood, drinks and sushi/sashimi at a reasonable, for Maui, price. Located right on the beach so you can watch the sun set while enjoying drinks and dinner. This is a great place.
I would rate this restaurant higher, but there was an error in our order., but the waitress, appetizer and drinks were delicious. That said I will return for a Happy hour, which is a good deal. They also had a three course early bird dinner with three choices of entree that looked great. Hopefully we will have a better overall experience next time. Aloha.
Our order consisted of cocktails, small salads, filet mignon, fresh catch, and a cucumber roll. Food was very good. Service was slow, unfortunately, particularly between the drinks and salads, and again with the entrees. Other tables appeared to have the same issue. We've been to this restaurant in the past, with much better service, so it may have been the particular day we were there.
Ridiculously slow service. Drinks of any kind took forever.
Save your money! Such a disappointment. We have had wonderful meals and service in Maui and looked forward to a few cocktails at the bar an a nice dinner at sunset.
Arrived 45 minutes early with reservations intending to relax with a cocktail and found a lovely e to get into the bar for their happy hour. Didn’t really care about the price of drinks so asked if we could be seated at our table early and we would have cocktails there. Could t do that because we were early! Told we could get in the hour long line but then we would miss our reservations. Insane! What a ridiculous setup.
Once seated it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. The entree came out before appetizer so we sent them back and then waited for appetizer. The coconut shrimp was overdone and tasteless. Whole lobster entree was very small but tasty. Ribs were over cooked and overly saucy. Rolls tasted like day old bread. Every table around us had the same problem with orders being incorrect, bad timing on courses coming out (one table got salad after entrees) while another got the wrong food entirely. Overall, just plain poor and a waste of an evening in paradise not to mention money. Too many lovey places to see a sunset on Maui without having to endure this.
Service was not good. We waited a while for our cocktails and had only gotten them right before our meal came out. Water was not refilled. Not much interaction about dinner or dessert menu. Our service was much better last Friday.
I just love this restaurant! Great food, staff and how can you beat a lovely dinner while watching the sunset with ocean breezes filling the air? I highly recommend. I was dining with my friend for her birthday with the full menu, but I’ve done their happy hour (longest and best on the island) and the sushi is outstanding! Great prices and choices at happy hour!
Very good - as usual. An outstanding location
We went there only to see the sunset. Bad weather so no sunset. Everything else was just marginal, nothing special.
Table for 6 was ready on time food and service was excellent view is outstanding
Have dinner here every time we are in Maui. Love the ambiance and the view at sunset. Just breathtaking. Ordered their "en Bastille" fish preparation and was a little disappointed. The fish was a little mushy and overcooked. But it had good flavor and presented beautifully.
5 Palms is a local favorite with a beautiful location, delicious food and attentive service. Ask for Davida's section.
5 Palms never disappoints. Amazing food. Fantastic service. Phenomenal location.
Made reservation using the app
Arrived to a dark parking lot which made it difficult to find the entry point to the Restaurant.
Once inside we were greeted by a hostess that did not seem to be completely engaged in her job.
Once seated it took some time to be acknowledged.
Drink orders were placed, which took some time.
Placing out dinner order was just shy of combative. The waiter made it obvious that we were somehow putting him out by ordering. They ran out of romain lettuce ... when asked if the dressing could be added to another lettuce we were told no. Smart comments and snide remarks coupled w rolled eyes made everything perfectly clear.
Once dinner arrived , the $14.95 add on charge for chicken to a salad was dry and tasteless. The ribs were presented luke warm at best.
Dining in Maui is expensive, thats a given, but quality and service is expected at $50+ pp for a simple meal.
There are a-lot of options in the area, I cannot suggest this location for dinner.
We were seated immediately and the surrounding were great - right off the ocean. Service was excellent and the food was great. We would highly recommend to anyone who wants good service and great food at the appropriate price.
Great sunset view while enjoying one of the most colorful, delicious meals in recent memory. The staff were all pleasant & efficient. We enjoyed our evening very much.
This is a lovely beachside restaurant between Kihei & Wailea! Delicious seafood - enjoyed baked spiny lobster & grilled swordfish - with attentive service. Our waiter Kona was well informed & professional & friendly. A great combination! It has quickly become a favorite - we plan to return for Happy Hour before we return to the mainland.
Unbelievable setting! Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. The is a three course special for $45. Must order before 5:45pm. It is a great value
Incredible atmosphere. Food was amazing. Very friendly and welcoming service. Highly recommend this as one of the hottest dining spots on all of Maui. Excellent!!
We had had a late heavy lunch and went for a light bite and desert. The potato leek soup and warm roll with lilikoi butter were excellent. And the Kona coffee mud pie we split was deadly!
Lovely evening. Whales were performing, which made it so special. Good drinks, good service, and excellent food.
Lobster salad had two thumbnail size pieces of lobster for $20. Prices were like Mama’s without the quality!
Good food and service. Can’t beat the view.
The food was not as good as prior years. I ordered well done and got medium, so that was disappointing.
