We had front row seats for our anniversary dinner for the sunset. The menu had a good selection and had a whole menu dedicated to sushi. The sunset was amazing and the atmosphere was very romantic.

I made a last minute reservation for dinner- had a table with an amazing view of the water for sunset. I ordered baked potato soup as a starter and the whole fish special for dinner- it was SPECTACULAR!!! Not only was the flavor awesome, but it was quite the show stopper. Other diners had to stop and admire the beauty of the preparation while I chomped away. I also had the Lillikoi Margarita- such great flavor! I have eaten here before- always great food, atmosphere and service.

great setting and food. Our server, Roy, made the whole experience special. We visited 5P twice on our recent trip and we look forward visiting during our next trip to Maui.

Obviously, 5 Palms offers a staggering view of the ocean. However, the food is hardly worth the price (good, but not THAT good), and the ambiance seems like a weird combination of trying to be fancy and family-focused dining. The screaming kids and the over-priced food made it kind of a letdown. Not what I had hoped for our anniversary dinner (which they didn't even mention, even though I noted it twice in reservations).

There are 5 main reasons 5 Palms has become our restaurant of choice to celebrate our anniversary for the past 5 years:
1. Roy
2. Roy
3. Roy
4. Roy
5. The food
The restaurant is fabulous, with many delicious and creative items on the menu. The ambiance is to die for with a beautiful view of the ocean. However, what makes our whole experience memorable and keeps us coming back year after year is Roy, the best server on the planet. I can’t say enough about Roy. He greets us with a big hug and warm smile when he sees us come in and he can’t do enough for us whenever we’re there. He is beyond friendly and and attentive and it’s really difficult not to be drawn to his wonderful personality. I would recommend ordering their local fish specials. The ingredients are all put together very thoughtfully and precisely. 5 Palms is a restaurant not to be missed, and, if you go, make sure to ask for Roy 😄.

You won’t find a better beachside dining experience on Maui. Great drinks, excellent sushi, and jaw-dropping sunset views. Server was outstanding and went above and beyond for us, making a special occasion into a night worth remembering. You’ll pay for the privilege, but it’s absolutely worth it.

We love the restaurant however on our last nigh of vacation we went to the 5 Palms and had terrible service. Our waiter kept forgetting what we ordered. People seated after us real wives their meals and checks before we received our meal.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and chose 5 Palms as our last meal on the island. We showed up a little early and told the hostess we would be at the bar. She asked if we were celebrating anything, so we told her. We were sat early (which was great) but had calamari on the way (do NOT order). We asked if we could get it delivered to our table, she had to ask someone if that was ok. Our server at the bar insisted we close out our tab, we wanted to get it transferred to the bill (we would have tipped her separately). Waitress shows up to table and asks if we were celebrating anything (lack of communication between wait staff and hostess). We ordered shrimp cocktail to start, took 35 minutes, I think the server forgot. Entrees were pretty good (special and steak/lobster). We both had leftovers and had to box up our own food ($50+ per plate). I spoke with the manager about my complaints and they comp’d our dessert (which should have been on the house due to our celebration). I am in the hospitality industry and it takes a lot for me to complain. Could have just been an off night for the staff but I won’t go back.

Food was great as usual

As a local I try the hotel restaurants
But today 5 palms was a real disappointment
Orders a gin martini and got vodka
Took 3 hours to finally get thru the extremely slow service
30 minutes to get our check
Just extremely slow service

We will go back but I hope this review is read by the manager or owner

Also Portuguese bean soup has beans theirs was very very little and usually Portuguese sausage but there was none.
But it was tasty for soup

Just not what it should be

I would not recommend this restaurant for anything but drinks. Pros: The drinks including the coffee.... The cons: The service, we had Jeff as our waiter and he was not friendly and we waited and waited for service, we almost just walked out. When he finally can over we ordered the Lobster appetizer and he informed us that they didn't have any left because they ran out of chips, okay how about some soup, nope we ran out of that too, ok what about just a CA roll NOPE that will take 30 minutes to prepare. We honestly started laughing. We ordered a salad and a shrimp dish, the salad had so much dressing it could have been the missing soup and the shrimp was over cooked.

There are many places in Maui that are just incredible but this isn't one of them. The service was just really really bad, try another place and save your money.

Hostess didn't seem to have our reservation. Assigned us to a table that didn't have a waiter. Waited 45 minutes before we could even order. The only redeeming quality to this restaurant is the great view. Would not go back. Food overpriced with poor service!

This was our third visit on this trip lol. You cannot beat the view. Took parents here right off the plane, they enjoyed their ribs and shrimp very much. My lobster was unfortunately cooked to death and uneatable, at $54 I was very sad indeed, but everything else we have had here has always been good, will give them another shot.

We have been going to 5Palms for many years. It was always our first stop when we arrived on Maui. Then one time we decided to go for breakfast, found out what better way to start your day. The view is outstanding. We always enjoy the food and the staff is very friendly.

I believe Nick was the host that seated us. Very tentative to our table, waited till we were ready to order by watching from a distance, then came over as I made eye contact with him.

Good job!

5 Palms is easy to find and parking is plentiful. We arrived early to take advantage of the happy hour pricing on drinks and appetizers. The edamame hummus was great and we really enjoyed the refreshing Riptide drinks. I also had a California roll and it tasted fresh. We seated for dinner and both of us ordered the En Bastille with Monchong fish. We both thought this was among the best fish dinners we have had. It came with a Kula salad that was perfectly made and very fresh with a light vinaigrette dressing. The dinner is large and filling and comes with a choice of desert. The coconut ice cream desert was a special treat. Our server was great and we were lucky to catch a colorful and beautiful sunset right from our table.
