A nice hotel waterfront restaurant at the north end of Keawakapu beach, perhaps the best beach in Hawaii. Go for the sunset, stay for the food.
The service was great, the food was just fine, but the view is amazing. Food seems a bit expensive for what you get.
Five Palms is close by and the open patio is great which is why we went. The food is mediocre, except for the sushi, and over-priced. Service is good. If we go back, it will be for happy hour, which is very popular.
The food at 5 Palms is not consistent! We have been very pleased on previous occasions. But tonight’s fish was overcooked , under seasoned and very disappointing.
The setting is incredible but did not makeup for the lacklustre food. Sadly, tonight’s meal was terribly underwhelming and overpriced.
The restaurant was a little hard to find but our overall experience was great!
The setting is beautiful and the food was very very good. Our only comment is that we felt very rushed through dinner. They brought our entrees while we were still eating our salads. It was a great meal but not a relaxed atmosphere.
Spent my 50th birthday at an outdoor table closest to the water. Amazing view of the sunset and the food was simply fantastic! Our Server, Carrie, who had been there for approximately four months, really made the night with her careful/professional attention and bubbly personality...Seemed as if she enjoyed our time there just as much as my wife and I did! Thanks Carrie and thanks to the 5 Palms for an amazing 50th birthday celebration!!!
Just didn’t compare to Mama’s Fish House or Kimo’s on the island. It was a very stuffy feel for a restaurant on Maui.
My fish was over cooked and at our request was split in kitchen but we were not advised of 7 charge to do so .
Our initial drinks were very slow coming . Our bottle of wine arrived after 3 inquire and after 2 finished eating in our group . Appalling service with only sorry
The setting is exquisite and fortunately the food was also exceptional. Probably one of our most memorable meals on Maui. The price was reflective of the value.
The view from this restaurant is superb. In the past the food has been decent but not fabulous and not outrageously pricey. I recently took my family who were visiting from the Mainland there so that we could watch the sunset while we were dining. Was surprised to find that entries are now $45-$50. I ordered the mahi mahi. Portions of it were heaped in salt and the side vegetables were also in some sort of horrible cornstarch based sauce and also too salty to eat. My family said that their food was okay....don’t know if they were just being polite. Very disappointing!
Fresh fish was overdone and brought only after separate reminder
Mai tai cocktail was served 15 minutes after order
Not impressed at all. The only thing good about the restaurant was the view. My gnocchi was ice cold and flavourless, my boyfriend ordered a medium well steak that came rare along with cold potatoes and undercooked lobster . For a $200US bill this was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had.
Great restaurant and service every time I dine at this establishment.
Thanksgiving dinner. Made reservations for hubby and I more than 2 wks in advance. Numerous time slots were available. Requested table on terrace at 5:45pm to watch sunset. Have dined here on Thanksgiving for the past 5 yrs. Arrived a little early and were told there were none available. Some lone hippie chick was seated at the two-top on the terrace READING A BOOK for more than 25 minutes after finishing her meal. I know this because we were seated inside with a perfect view of the table! How about dropping the check since you have to turn that table at least 2 more times in the evening? I have dined alone many times but have never thought to be inconsiderate. Prices for Tgiving fixed price meal have increased almost $5 over last year, but the number of choices per course were significantly reduced. Definitely not impressed this year; our tab was $140 for 1 Tgiving fixed price and one surf & turf - no drinks, no other extras.
Beautiful setting! We watched the sunset while sipping wine and couldn’t be happier. Food was delicious. Pricey, but the rack of lamb and the ambiance made it worth it for a night out.
Our party of 5 was very excited to go to five Palms for Thanksgiving this year. We had dined there on two other thanksgivings while on Maui. I made the reservation on open table about a month ago. Followed it up with a phone call a couple weeks ago to confirm that 1 o’clock would be fine. Was told that we were the last of the regular seatings for the day, prior to the Thanksgiving special dinner being served. Was told we would have a Thanksgiving turkey plate as an option, along with the other regular menu items. When we arrived at 1:04 today, the hostess abruptly told us that the kitchen was closed and we would need to get seated very quickly and order quickly. Then, as our water was poured, we were told this again- and that the kitchen cooks were angry. Yet again, when our waitress came, we were told that we needed to order very quickly because the kitchen staff was angry. The last straw was that there was in fact no turkey plate at all. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was misinformed when I called to confirm two weeks ago. The biggest issue for me was that we were made to feel like we were imposing on them, and we were made to feel rushed. I was upset about not getting turkey, But the bigger issue was the way we were treated. Especially on Thanksgiving day. We will not be returning to this restaurant next year when we are here in Maui over Thanksgiving.
10 days on Maui and this was the best dinner! Great location, great service, fantastic food.
No better view for out of town guests
Worst experience ever for the first time here! 6 of us our reservation was at 7:45, we arrived 3 minutes late no big deal. 15 minutes later water was served another 20 minutes later bread arrived. Waited 1 hour for appetizer, waitress never checked if anyone wanted more drinks!! Our main course was very cold that we couldn’t even eat it that we have to take it home to microwave it!!! I WILL RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE TO HAVE MORE TRAININGS !! She does not deserve the automatic gratuity over a 100 dollars since our check was over 700!! I believe I deserve better service for the amount of money we spent!!
View for the sunset is great. Don't go for the sushi-- the menu online shows lots of sushi choices but when we got our dinner menus there were only 2 rolls from which to select. Disappointing! We did the prix fix special. The meal was just ok for the price.
It was AWESOME!!!
Kari is an outstanding Server...always knew when to approach us, knows her wine and the cuisine. We were celebrating our Birthdays, and she made it the BEST. EVER. Chefs nailed it...from the Sushi to the NYs.
Moki the Manager...hands down the best in the biz.
Mahalo for the experience, 5 Palms!!!

A fantastic meal with a spectacular view of the sunset!
We live locally and decided to try out 5 palms again for a nice dinner. We reserved here and showed up on time. The Service was ok but the ribs were terrible. We had to pick up the bones to try and eat the meat. It was very tough. Meat is supposed to fall off ribs. We told the manager and her response was oh I’ll replace your ribs. Ribs take 3 hours to cook so that wouldn’t work. We also mentioned it to the waitress she said you should have told me.( like it was our fault) we were given the full bill without any consideration. It was over $300.0”. We spoke with the manager, again- she wouldn’t give us eye contact during the conversation. We said we would pay it but we’re very unhappy with the meals. She returned with the ribs off the bill. I just felt like it was not handled properly. Not professional.
Five Palms is one of my favorites. I think it is a bit overpriced, but I still go there at least once during every visit to Maui. The food is good and the service is undeniably terrific. Kudos to the staff for making this one of my favorites.
Our waitress Kim was outstanding.
Awesome birthday meal for my husband’s 50th
Where to start....
We made reservations on the “dinner side”; we were seated promptly and then sat for almost 25 minutes before we got up and went to the “bar side”. The hostess came over and apologized, and offered us a appetizer.
We are at the bar, where ti was friendly, had a much better experience, and the extended Happy Hour had many of the same foods at a much much better price.
Front staff was not helpful with seating, and bordered on rude when we asked for a better table.
we had a reservation .. but we’re told “ tables were 1 st come 1st serve.. “ so eliminates purpose of reservations?
Our Server started off great then got worse as the night went on. Waited over 20 minutes with our finished dinner plates to be cleared away and ask about dessert and other beverages.
Not what we were looking for to celebrate a birthday and our first trip to Maui:(
We waited for twenty minutes before we spoke to our waiter I was brought a salad that was
not what I ordered. Our waiter was great but overall the service was sub par and disappointing.
I will never go back there again.
Had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to get waited on. Other wise everything else was ok.
Beautiful setting with good service and good.
For what we paid ($50 per entree) I expected so much more. The service was some of the worst we have EVER had. This was $200 I regret spending. We will never be returning and never going to tell people to go to. Service was shot and the food was okay.
The food is always great here, the specials are such a great value. The view is hard to beat, one of the best in Kihei!!!
View was spectacular and the waitstaff very friendly. Our meals were delicious. Perhaps a bit too much dressing on the Kale salad. The daily catch was superb.
Met with cousins who happened to be on the island at the same time.
This was the first time to your restaurant. The service was great! The food was very, very good and tasty! The ambience was wonderful! We had a very wonderful experience!
Best view restaurant in Kihei/Wailea area. Stunning views, lovely staff and great service.
We enjoyed the open air, right on the beach, beautiful sunset setting. Food was great (ok, the bread was just fair, but everything else was delicious!). Overall, a really nice meal in a really nice place.
