The Five Palms is a lovely venue with an outstanding view of the ocean. We chose to be seated outside about sunset and were treated to a lovely one. It was very warm and the ceiling fans were out of order which was unexpected. We had been here before and found the fans mitigated the heat. We selected the dinner special which was disappointing. The special was budget friendly; the steak was tender but the lobster tail was bland. That being said, the staff was friendly and attentive. Would come back again and recommend it to friends with caveats about sitting outside and selecting the dinner special.
One of our favorite when on Maui. Especially enjoy starting our day there with breakfast.
Good Food, Great Service, Breathless View. What more can you ask for.
It was ok I was looking for something more exiting
Maybe because the sunset that evening was not good made it seem average
Lackluster, tired, out-of-date resort dining room advertised as upscale contemporary dining, at price appropriate for what it failed to live up to. It did have a new view with a casual family oriented atmosphere, so could work if that’s what you’re after.
Great for happy hour not for dinner. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Happy hour seems to be a better deal for what you get. Drinks were good and the service and ambiance were nice.
Great ocean view. Service was top notch and food delicious. Highly recommended.
We loved Lisa. We will be back next year. Maybe scallops on the menu again?
Very unprofessional waiter. Hopefully an isolated incidence- but very inpatient and outwardly rude to my 73 year old mother.
We enjoy your restaurant for its views and very friendly service but we’re noticing a trend with not having gluten-free bread. We suffer from allergies and like to have more options while dining at your restaurant. Sometimes you do sometimes you don’t. Please be more consistent. Thank you :)
Better than expected. Seating along the beach walk at sunset only added to the experience. Been to Maui several times but first time at 5 Palms. Will definitely go back when we return in February.
Spectacular setting, meal was very well prepared and presented. Great value in the fixed price menu.
Asha was an amazing server. The location and ambiance were off the charts and the food was outstanding!!!!!
Service was very confused and assumed we had been there before. No one introduced themselves to us as our server and when I asked if the person was our server he seemed annoyed. New server when we switched to the happy hour section was super frazzled and delayed our food several times and drinks for a good 10 mins after ordering. Finally, had to ask 3 times for our bill. Would NOT recommend.
The place appears to have changed from our previous visits. Food and Service were marginal, no fans so humidity made dinning outside and inside uncomfortable. I am saddened to say at this point we won’t be returning.
We, only my husband and I, had our wedding dinner and also informed them in advance, but unfortunately nobody was interested in or cared about it! We were disappointed! The food is okay, but not worth the price, there are a lots of better restaurants in Wailea!
I alway s enjoy this restaurant and come here most times we are on island. Staff is always friendly. Food good. just don't appreciate cats walking around me while I eat, being allergic to them.
As always, The 5 Palms Restaurant was excellent! You could not ask a better, more relaxing view of the ocean on Maui while enjoying brunch. The Bloody Mary’s were very good and a great compliment to the Eggs Benedict that were prepared to perfection. I highly recommend The 5 Palms and look forward to my next visit.
They had reserved a lovely table for us where we could see the sunset well. The servers were attentive and gracious. Lilly our server offered us complimentary champagne when we told her we were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and that we had eaten there on our honeymoon.
They had a lovely 3 course dinner special of steak and lobster priced very reasonably. One of our steaks was over cooked. Lilly kindly returned it to the chef and came back in a short time with a much nicer steak grilled perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at 5 Palms and will return on our next trip to Kihei.
Way overpriced. Two dishes and a beer=$100. Great sunset and food better than saranto but better to sit at the free park then go to Gannons or hit happy hour then stumble to the beach
Mediocre food. Server forgot coffee order - never arrived - Sorry.
Great location but there is better food and service on Maui
Excellent food and service. View is outstanding . Great date night
A beautiful restaurant with amazing views. The food was delicious. The service was stellar. The reservation process was easy. Loved it all!
Great service and great food and great location for dinner sunset
very enjoyable and good food, waiter was attentive
Service was not as good as it has been on past visits. 20 mins before meal arrived after salad then another 20 mins after main meal before desert arrived.
I am a true lover of 5 Palms and always dine when in the area. This was my first visit for Sunday brunch and it was delicious. What a great meal we had. The ribs were tender and flavorful. Having a luscious crab/cheddar omelet was a splendid choice. Undoubtedly the best Bloody Mary on the island.
We chose to share the incredible Cheesecake for dessert and it was the best I've had in my 65 years on the planet.
Excellent service and a exceptional view of the Pacific made our Sunday brunch a perfect island afternoon.
It was a lovely dinner out with my fiance.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary, and we had a nice surprise getting a congratulations card signed by few members of the restaurant, and a free desert. The location is wonderful, being on the beach, the service was fast and very good, but the fish was a little over cooked. Overall, it was a good choice.
Could not complain about the food, but the service was terrible. We were in the middle of our appetizer and they stacked the entree next to us. We asked that they take it away and bring it back in 5 mins. Given we were not in a fast food chain and paid $300 for our meal, this did not seem like an unreasonable request. However, after our small request the service went immediately downhill. The server was very cold, slammed things down on the table and everything came out very delayed. Needless to say, we did not feel obligated to leave any kind of tip.
Overall nice restaurant. Asked for a fan underneath us be turned on and was told didn't work.
We recently visited 5 Palms for our 40th Anniversary. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, they even made us a cute anniversary card. Our server, Tara, was delightful. We were given time to just enjoy the evening without being bothered or rushed. We especially appreciated that we could bring our own bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner. The food was fantastic! My husband had the New York Steak and I had the Filet Mignon. Both were exceptional and cooked perfectly to our preferences. The view and sunset were magnificent! Thank you so much for a very special anniversary dinner.
Every plate was full of oil; spicy shrimps were served with water and a poor piece of bread full of oil; the fish (catch of the day) was also not welle cooked and full of oil. Scampis were also full of oil. terrible food and when we mentionned it,they brought an expansive bill. Terrible place!
What a beautiful location. So sad the food was really a disappointment. The lobster special looked nothing like the picture. It was buried under a overpowering breading that covered up the lobster’s flavor. My wife’s pasta was so bland as to be inedible. The rolls were dry and without flavor. And service was slow. Even a water refill took forever.
My reservation was for 6:30 and all but one of the items I was interested in eating were not available. There was no sushi and only tuna sashimi. The staff was very good, the house salad looked delicious. All the food tasted fine, but overall I would not go back as the menu options where down 4 of the 5 dishes I was interested in eating.
The atmosphere is wonderful with views of the beach and the sunset. Happy hour was very nice and reasonably priced. The staff was excellent and got us in before our reservation at a seat nearest the ocean. The lobster was excellent. My wife did not care for the daily catch, but the food was prepared well, just not to her taste. The pineapple creme brule was a nice finishing touch. It is not a cheap meal, but considering the location and the quality, it was well worth it for a special occasion.
I went here for birthday breakfast. I've been coming to this restaurant for years, and have seen it go downhill, sadly. I've given outstanding reviews for 5 Palms in the past.
I have mentioned their declining cleanliness in the "add a personal note to the restaurant" section on Open Table, but nothing has been done. So I am mentioning it here, as I believe other guests who want to dine in this price range will want to know this. I will include pictures, if that is available. I asked to speak to a manager, but was told she was too busy.
I also want to point out that I twice asked the waiter if I was checked into Open Table for my reservation, to which I was assured that I was. Subsequently, after dining, I received an email from Open Table saying I was a no-show. I contacted Open Table, and they made it right.
I'd really like to see this restaurant make a turnaround! I used to recommend to everyone coming here as the best happy hour in town! That is no longer true. It's Gannon's and MonkeyPod.
The prices went up recently, and the portions are smaller.
We went for a 40th birthday. 10 people. The worst food and the server was so rude and disrespectful. She put her hand in my face and walked away after I informed her the potatoes were cold and raw. She didn’t even take the order of one person in our party and when we told her we needed to order for her she became confrontation and very unprofessional. It took them over 20 mins to sit us and once we sat we ordered sushi and she informed us the sushi chef was in a bad mood and wasn’t sure if he would even make it. The list continues, but horrible food and the worst customer service
The fish was under cooked and when brought back out had little flavor. the table next to us had the same problem.
Rude waitress, mediocre food, people smoke cigarettes and weed right outside of the restaurant. The only plus was the beautiful ocean that is really close.
Thank you very much for greatest service
