5 Fusion & Sushi Bar
5 Fusion is also the home of Bend's only James Beard Nominated Chef, Joe Kim, and his creative cuisine.
5 Fusion also features an extensive wine and sake list, local beers, and cocktails to satisfy all appetites.
We’ve lived in Bend over 3 years and it’s the first time we tried 5 Fusion. Had We known what a gem it is we would definitely have gone there sooner. The decor and ambiance is very Zen and classy. The food is excellent and our Server, Jason, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and fun.
Our first time in Bend, this restaurant was highly recommended and did not disappoint, in terms of good. Service could have been much better. We ordered two appetizers to share; the second came out but was followed within 30 seconds by our entrees. We were instructed to just eat or move the tuna tatami (a $20 appetizer) do there was room for the entrees. Clearly the server just placed the order and we were on auto-pilot after that. We really felt we had no opportunity to enjoy the tuna, and that was a negative. Food is wonderful, creative and well plated. Service was mechanical; we never really felt welcome, just that we were being processed. We’ll go back, but we will be much clearer as to our service expectations. What could have been a “5” meal was a “3.5” because of the “Denny’s-like” service.
Great sushi choices and interesting combination of flavors. By far the best spiced edamame I ever had!
Great food and location, prices quite reasonable. A little loud at times. Service seemed a little rushed. Overall, a great addition to Bend restaurant scene.
Loved the food and the service. Ambience isn't great, and the seating style is slightly weird.
But overall good place to visit with friends/family.
Food was ok, but the service left a lot to be desired.
Happy hour specials / prices represent outstanding value. Even regular prices are reasonable for the quality of what they serve. Their dessert are quite imaginative too - esp the creme brulee.
I love five fusion; great food, always good beer on draft, and they always seem to have a table for me. My favorites are the California salad and a dragon roll. Can’t get any better than that!!!
Painfully slow service, moderately good food and an atmosphere that shows they are not trying very hard.
It was fantastic, the atmosphere, the food and personnel was amazing!
Loved the ambience of the restaurant. Our meals were fantastic and service was definitely top knotch!
Great food. Our waiter was great and made the evening really fun.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Your not just eating out, your going out for an experience at 5 Fusion.
Some of the best sushi in the country -really. Fine Japanese technique, exquisitely fresh ingredients, and some fun gastronomique experimentation.
By far the best sushi I have ever had. That's all there is to say.
Always a great choice for sushi or Asian-inspired dining! Creative specials, solid service, great cocktails. Noise level is such that you can still hold a conversation with your table without feeling like you're yelling. I need to go here more often!
Our dinner did not go well. First, we ordered a bottle of wine and our waitress brought us a different wine. We sent it back and by the time she returned, we were informed that the only bottle of the wine we ordered had just been grabbed by another table. The second bottle we ordered was also gone. We ended up sharing a tall bottle of Sapporo beer. We ordered sushi for dinner at it is always excellent and fresh although the Toro Tombo special we ordered was tasteless. We like 5 Fusion and we'll be back. I'm sure that on our next visit they'll be up to their usual, excellent standard.
So disappointing! $80 and that with one cheap hot sake, and we left hungry! Presentation was ok, quality was same as average.
Waitress was attentive and informative. Food was arranged nicely and presented well. It was nice but expensive.
SO delicious! The hot and sour tortilla soup was unlike anything I’ve had before, but it was absolutely incredible. Spicy edamame were also on point. We loved our rolls and drinks, as well! Can’t wait to try some entrees next time.
We had such a great time! Initially we where disappointed when we found out that they had taken the tuna tartar tower off the menu as we had seen many pics of it. However our waitress made up for it and was amazing, the food outstanding and reasonable priced. We’ll be back for sure.
My husband and I went here for my birthday because we heard they have great sushi. It was amazing! The service was great too! The hostess of the night was the owner and she gave us free desert. What was really good too! We ended up spending over $100 for the both of us because our margarita's were so expensive but I'd say it was well worth it! We'll be going back there again!
Nice focus on fusion cuisine. Unfortunately steak was pretty tasteless - a combination I think of cut and preparation. Other dishes were good, nothing incredible. Specialty cocktail was excellent, plain vodka tonic was not - either well vodka or tonic needs upgrade. Dessert came through with very good finish. Service was very good throughout. My thought is that with effort toward imaginative fusion recipes there may be loss of focus on basics.
My vegetarian roll had very little vegetables and was mainly white rice. They do not offer brown rice. The bibimbop (I realize this is spelled incorrectly) was also mainly white rice but it had good flavor. Edamame was steamed well with the perfect amount of salt.
Our server was very slow and inattentive. People who came in long after us were paying their bill before we even got our dinner.
AMAZING! We've been coming here for several years and it just keeps getting better. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious: oysters on the half shell were fresh and stood on their own with minimal fussiness, scrumptious ceviche, spicy and flavorful bi bim bap, perfect sashimi salad, prosciutto wrapped chicken with basil-cilantro risotto, salmon perfectly prepared, crazy-amazing rolls, and an incredible assortment of desserts. Excellent service all around. It was a memorable evening!
Joe Kim is by far the best chef in Bend with a creative menu and interesting new specials often.
5 Fusion is my favorite restaurant in Bend. Joe Kim, the chef, is outstanding. He trained with some of the best chefs in the world and continues to produce excellent menu items. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bend. All of the locals already know about it.
We've dined at 5 Fusion a number of times, and they continue to do a great job. My wife is vegan, so we really appreciate the vegan options on the menu and the sushi chefs' creative all-veggie custom rolls.
Made reservations for my husband's birthday and was very disappointed with almost everything. The appetizer of calamari had to be returned, not even edible. It was small overcooked breading, I don't even think there was any calamari in it. I ordered two hand rolls, which tasted good but was shocked that you charge $15 for them. I have never paid more then $3 up in Portland at multiple restaurant's. Our waiter seemed really stressed and not engaging. The only thing that was good was the draft beer. We live here in Bend and have been to your restaurant in the past, but it's been a couple years ago. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items, got the wrong waiter. I don't think we would come back after such a disappointing experience and never again for a special occasion.
The Sushi was delicious, made with good ingredients, nice portion. and the service was good.
Happy to get our requested seats on line through reservation.
Great place for special occasion, a little pricey though.
We had a fantastic dinner and Zac was a pleasure to have as a server. The sushi was outstanding. We had a variety of sashimi, nigiri and rolls. The oysters as an appetizer were a pleasant surprise.
Upscale setting with a cool glass-encased water feature running throughout the restaurant. If they offer truffle-centric specials again, definitely get them, they are outstanding!
Food was excellent but the seating isn’t great, too crowded and too many tables. It is not for a romantic dinner out...which is what wanted.
I’d go back and sit at bar and lower expectations for a quiet dinner.
Always tasty Fusion dishes and good Happy Hour food selections!
Sushi was So-So. The risotto was delicious. Not sure I’d go again.
Food was great! Beautiful restaurant, and great service.
Great food and service
We enjoyed our food for sure, everything was amazing. We have 3 courses and left feeling like we couldn’t eat anymore. Our server was fantastic, knowledgeable and kind- she picked up on cues that we gave her easily. Our table was not great as it was by the door and we were next to a larger party, so it was hard to have an intimate dinner.
Very good ceviche, Steve McQueen roll and scallops. Bimbambop was way too salty.
Sushi and service are always amazing. There have been updates to the traditional desert which are a very disappointing complete fail. The crem brulee has been infused with green tea (? I think) and made into a gel that was just terrible. Ruined the flavor, no sugar crust, server tried to do some burnishing at the table, resulted in nothing, texture was horrible. The bread pudding was nothing resembling bread pudding, it was crispy little muffins of a minuscule size with dollops of whip cream around them. I LOVE 5 Fusion, I was utterly disappointed in desert and sorry that I ordered it and my husband had to pay for literally bad attempts at reinventing classics and making the servings tiny. Felling a little (a lot) ripped off on that. The server seemed to know, he said "here's the crem brulee, it's a little different, if you don't like it just let me know," and then he noticeably avoided us the rest of the evening. Had he resurfaced, I would have 100% sent it back.
