The place blew up.
Sorry to see it go
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and had an amazing dinner! Food was incredible !
With the check more than $300 for non-pricy place we got average experience. Food was way better than service. As we came later we were treated as a last table. We were seated next to a large noisy party of 7ppl, nevertheless all the restaurant was empty. I haven't seen manager on floor at all and the hostess was enjoying cocktails with her friends at the table when we were leaving.)
Service was a bit slow. The restaurant was not at all crowded, and yet our coffee was empty several times. And the stuff they we ordered to come out before our meal sat long enough to be brought out with the full meal.
Outstanding food. Friendly service. Very interesting menu. Would recommend.
excellent dinner with son starting sophmore year at the college, great atmosphere, food outstanding, sat at counter with incredible view of chef and kitchen. We were here before for beginning of freshman year, now a feast tradition! Ben was great server
Limited and hard to understand menu. Service was excellent. We had a late resv (9pm) and we had the indoor section almost to ourselves.
We had a fantastic dinner at 492, our server was helpful with the menu and available to answer any questions we had about the menu. We had 2 kids with us and they found entrees on the menu to suit their liking.
The only complaint that we had at our table of 6 was our proximity to the bar and the noisy foul mouthed patrons that were at it! Thankfully they didn’t stay long but should we go back we would request to be seated away from the bar. Other than that we loved it...amazing friendly service and great food!
Food was spectacular
The menu was very limited and the portions was especially small for the price. We love the outdoor seating for drinks, especially in the fall months, but would not recommend for dinner
Great food and drinks
Waiter was outstanding. Food excellent
Omg! The food is incredible, and for Charleston that says lot.
NOT for families
We have dined at 492 quite a few times and wish the food was a fabulous as the ambiance.
They have changed the menu a number of times but cannot seem to find their place in the CHS culinary scene.
Dined here for brunch. Food was amazing and service was on par. Must try!
Ambiance was fantastic. The food was good, but my trout was slightly undercooked. The cocktails were the only thing really lacking.
We had a group of 6 here for dinner. We had a great experience. We love the fresh menu selection and 492 has such a fun drink menu. The food, ambience, and service are always excellent. The outdoor bar is super cool as well. We love 492!
We had a reservation and asked for outside seating. They set up a lovely table for us, and after 15-20 minutes no one had come to even pour water much less, take our drink orders, so we left.
Great food as usual. Cocktails were good, just a step behind ther food though. Service was fair, but he was busy and we were enjoying each other, so it was fine. Still an A+
Thank you for another enjoyable experience!
Wonderful food, great service and live music. Highly recommend!
Much more enjoyable than early days of this quiet and classy place. Extremely comfortable dining experience with teriffic food and service.
Really did love the restaurant but I think the chef’s don’t have an understanding as to what tapas really means. The server, who was awesome, introduced the plates as tapas and family style, and they were priced accordingly, yet the plates that came out were crazy full sized, and only one member of our party was capable of eating most of the food. We ordered the potatoes and there must have been 15 potatoes on the plate. In short, the potions are way too big so if you go here - and I recommend you do - just absolutely under order as this is NOT a tapas restaurant. With all that said, it was the best Moscow Mule I’ve ever had and the double cheeseburger will literally change your life. :-)
Food, service, atmosphere- all amazing!! The beef was the most delicious meat I've had in awhile. Drinks were great. Oysters were amazing! Would definitely return!
Great menu that changes often.
Perfect Father’s Day brunch. Food was prepared with attention to detail and the server was knowledgeable and friendly. Our first time at the restaurant. Definitely not my last.
The food and service was fantastic. Great outdoor space and dining experience.
Not great. Limited choices.
This was our first time at 492, and we were not disappointed. We took our out-of-town friends, who were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary, there for brunch. The ambiance was lovely, and quiet enough that we could easily have a conversation. All of the food was good, but we especially enjoyed the chicken liver paté. The free valet parking was a plus. We will definitely go back.
No longer tapas style. Fabulous food and service. Ate early so it was quiet and booth was extremely comfortable. Expected less, got a teriffic dining experience.
We loved everything!! Pastrami bacon was off the charts!! We may have brought the noise level up a bit, but brunch was amazing. We will be back!!
492 is a beautiful space. It is stylistic, trendy and comfortable. But the limited menu left us wanting. The entrees were swordfish, wreckfish and cheeseburger. This is ok for a place that bills itself mostly as a bar, not a restaurant. It seems like it is trying to be too many things and not delivering on all of them. The food was good, especially the fries , but if you weren't in the mood for a filet of fish or a cheeseburger you might have left hungry. Lastly, our server didn't smile the whole time, not a requirement for a good time, but it doesn't hurt.
Ben was great. Love this place
Awesome meal! Great selection of foods
It's a very attractive restaurant with pleasant and attentive service, but the price to portion/quality ratio is abysmal. My mom, sister, and I ordered the swordfish, a $31 entree, which consisted of about a 6 or 7 oz piece of overcooked, bland fish, and one spear of asparagus cut in half lengthwise to make you think you were getting more than you actually were. That's it. My mom's fish was 50% dark fatty fish and quite inedible. I have no problem with that price point for excellent quality and flavor, but to give one piece of asparagus is truly insulting. I hope other patrons aren't silly enough to be ok with such a rip off. To 492's credit, our entrees were discounted by half and our screw top bottle of $48 wine was on the house.
My husband's burger was way overcooked --the waiter insisted he order it medium. And my friend says the Tanqueray martini she ordered was not made with Tangueray.
Excellent food! Was quiet for brunch but we didn’t mind, loved everything we ate and the service and staff were very nice.
Try the Muhammad Ali! Everything was delicious and service was great.
Very disappointing . The portion size was basically for an infant. The entree came and was prepared wrong. We sent the food back. The waiter was kind and gave us a discount but overall I will not go back.
