We focus on pristinely prepared food with refined and elegant service.
Our cuisine highlights the seafood tradition of Tidewater Virginia, but our diverse menu has something for everyone!
Our meals were terrific; among the best that we've ever eaten
Nice atmosphere. Friendly and prompt service. The food was very good. Will definitely be going back. Love the the old Norfolk feel. Thanks!
Have enjoyed 456Fish many times. Usually we are blown away. New Year's Eve was a tad different. The hostess had such a smug expression. Barely wanted to check our coats. It was only 7pm. Far too early for her to be tired and irritable on New Year's Eve. My soup and salad was divine. The white chocolate mousse was a little chunky in texture. Not what I expected of a mousse. Husband had the crab cakes. He said those were ok but the potatoes and spinach lacked flavor. He didnt eat those. Not a horrible meal but not the best we've ever had there.
This was our traditional New Years Eve dinner before church. I am from the area but left and have returning “briefly”. So, everything about this restaurant was great however, the waitress that we had was selective in her treatment. At first meeting when she came to the table and realized we weren’t having cocktails she decided to be rude and dismissive. She didn’t come over to the table much at all. The hostess and perhaps the managers who were roving around acknowledging customers were excellent. Finally, when it was time to pay the bill, I paid with my exclusive platinum card... here behavior completely changed. She suddenly became very sociable and even offered us the dessert menu. I am so fed up with these small areas that lack diversity. These people think just because you’re not lushing with booze you’re not going to tip them generously. It’s unfortunate. I tipped her but I have a lot of reservations about going back because of being prejudged and mistreated. It’s shameful! I can wait to leave and go back to the DMV where everyone is treated the same. The smart wait staff figure if you’re there at a high end restaurant, you must be able to afford it.
Of note: The food was EXCELLENT!!!
Christmas family dinner. Good times, excellent food and attentive service.
456 Fish is consistently excellent and is the go-to place for a special occasion or a nice evening out. The food is absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and perfectly prepared. The service is attentive but never intrusive. The menu is varied enough so that there is something for every taste without having an overwhelming number of choices. The atmosphere is upscale 'dressy casual' but not stiff, formal, or intimidating. Noise levels are low to moderate, so conversation is effortless. The price level is on the higher end of the scale, but well worth it given the quality of the experience.
Excellent food, drinks and wait staff! The reason you want to go out to dinner!
GREAT brunch menu, a lot of variety. Reasonable Mimosas and Bloody Marys.
Need to try at dinner some time.
Sunday brunch drinks and food menu was excellent and a great value. Did not give an outstanding on the food because 2-3 of our entrees were not hot when served. Allen was our server and he too was outstanding; fun, attentive, and very helpful with entree choices.
Great atmosphere, great food and great service. We go every time we attend a show at Chrysler Hall. Convenient parking and an easy walk to and from. We’ll definitely be back!!
456 Fish never disappoints--from the nice valet, to the hostess who remembers us, to the excellent server who was patient, informative, professional, and nice, to the delicious food served, we always enjoy our meals at 456 Fish!
Waiter obviously dropped our order and was slow to remedy. Management came over to intervene as we waited over an hour to receive our entree.
Great service, good food
Very expensive for what you get. Limited offerings for non fish fans. mediocre entrees
Our server was incredibly kind, fun and very knowledgeable of the menu. Maitre D was delighted to have three brand new customers. Thanked us for choosing the,
M. This was our first visit to 456 fish. The food was amazing, recommend the shrimp appetizer and stuffed flounder. Plating is fresh and elegant. Easy walk from the theater.
Well, we never got our food so I
The steak and lobster omelet was wonderful. Wait staff was great too. Great place to eat before a show.
Not for brunch. Quality of good was less than average. Waffles were thin and soggy, plantains were cold and when I brought it up they just nuked in microwave. Omelette was ok, potatoes were delicious.
Food was great, the hostess was wonderful, the bar staff was great, the manager was great (you could see he was working really hard to make sure all the tables and bar were running smoothly). I’m not sure if we came at the changing of service shifts, but our waitress was kind of absent. After being seated, we never got a drink menu... I was going to order a bottle of wine (we clearly were drinking since we brought drinks from the bar). It also took about 20 minutes to get our food order in after we were seated (the drink order was skipped I guess..) the food was great, but the hostess got us our food boxes, other people brought out our food, and our waitress spent very little time on our table of two, despite us ordering some of the most expensive meals/appatizers on the menu. Missed out on selling a nice bottle of wine too. Again, not sure if something just was lost in communication but everything else was great!
The service was barely there. The menu was the same with no specials. I am not going back any time soon
Food was excellent. Busy evening with opening night of Hamilton and limited entrees.
Great experience here. Delicious food, and tasty drinks. Get the she crab soup!
we made reservations 4 weeks ago. arrived 1t 5pm and were put in probably the worst table we have ever experienced. more amazing when we complained to the manager his answer was next time we will give you the owner's table.
there probably will not be a next time
Had the salmon and risotto. white chocolate mousse. Tasted great. Definitely do it again. overall good experience.
Pre show meal. Was good and timely.
Great fish. Lovely waitress. Onsite parking. And across the street from the Chrysler Theater. What more could you want for a perfect evening?
This is a great restaurant in Downtown Norfolk with a fantastic ambience, delicious food, and fantastic service. It's fine dining but reasonably priced and well, well, well worth it. Would recommend to absolutely anyone.
Service great & food excellent as usual. A very pleasant experience and we will defiantly return.
As always, a great evening!
This was the perfect choice made for our dinner last night. The food was delicious; soup, crab cakes perfectly lit, good spacing of tables & quiet. I’d recommend 456 Fish.
Quite possibly the best restaurant meal i have ever had. All cooked just right with adequate proportions. The only concern, and oh so slight, was that the restaurant had no caffeine free herbal teas for hot tea. We will definitely go back!
Very pleasant and relaxing evening. Drink service was a little slow at first (we were told it was a new bartender), but worth the wait. We started with the fried goat cheese salad and a bowl of she crab soup, both were delicious. For our meals we ordered the crab cake appetizer and the fried sea scallops with side orders of ratatouille and Boursin risotto. The crab cake was very good, the scallops were huge ( in a good way), the ratatouille was as good as I’ve had in a restaurant and the Boursin risotto was rich and creamy...delicious. We had the creme brûlée and bread pudding for dessert both were among the finest examples of each I’ve had in the US. The wait staff was wonderful; they were friendly, and attentive but not intrusive. In summary 456 Fish made our evening very pleasant. We left satisfied and refreshed and I would gladly recommend 456 Fish to friends and acquaintances. We will be back.
Very accommodating. Personable staff
The she-crab soup was a little salty but it was a nice portion with very large lumps of crab and no shells. The fried shrimp and broiled grouper were very delicious and perfectly cooked. Our server was very attentive and when part of my party was late arriving the kitchen staff held their food in the warmer so that as soon as they arrived it could be brought immediately out.
Went for dinner at 6 PM before Broadway show at 8 PM at Chrysler Hall. dinner was not rushed at all and very relaxing. Crab soup, Zesty Feta salad, and crab stuffed flounder were all good. Salad did not have olives (as stated on menu) but we enjoyed it.
Excellent food and service. We were guaranteed to finish in time to attend the play at Chrysler and the staff did not disappoint!
Drinks during happy hour were unacceptable
Service was excellent and timely
Apparently they have a new chef
