Always amazing here. Best cocktails in NYC!
Food and the Service was top notch , will come back
teriffic food and service, filet minon was recommended medium rare and it was cooked to PERFECTION.. great spot for after a matinee or before a show.. great crafted cocktails (all named after popular Bway shows) Just overall great place, 10/10 recommend
Been here a few times and it's always been great! Staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Has a great feel to it - would definitely recommend for any occasion. I got the duck this last time and my date got the short rib. Both were amazing.
Our second time at 44 & X was as outstanding as the first—excellent food, great service, lively atmosphere. Looking forward to our next meal there!
Great choice within short walk to theaters, excellent service, terrific menu, lots of nice fish options. Not inexpensive, but very adult. Outdoor cafe in nice weather, good people-watching from indoors too. Can get loud.
We dined at 44&X on a Sunday evening and enjoyed an incredible meal. I was worried about past reviews I had read of service and quality suffering during peak hours, but we experienced none of those problems and over the course of a four day visit with family eating all around the city, this was easily our best and favorite meal.
Service was impeccable- our water never reached less than 2/3 full, and they provided great recommendations. Every time one of us left the table to use the restroom, our server was there to nicely roll and stage our napkin in place before we could even blink. Not sure where he was perched, but he was hawk-like in his attentiveness and consistency in keeping our table clear and our glasses full. At the same time, we were never rushed or bothered.
The menu is interesting and inventive, and not a single dish disappointed. Would highly recommend, and I look forward to dining again in the future.
44 & X is always a must visit for us when we are in the city. They never fail to impress with the food, service and overall experience. I would recommend this restaurant highly. We will be back again soon.
Great atmosphere! My only complaint would be they put syrup on my waffles; I generally like that on the side since the waffles tend to get soggy.
Have dined there several times and great for pre theater. Tasty and inventive cocktails. Desserts are excellent . Our group had range of offerings -scallops as app were a rave. Short ribs, lamb and grilled fish all popular . The chicken and waffles not to be missed. This is a treasure - staff friendly and fun while professional. We love going here and it is a go to when we r in town. Try it and you will be one a fan .
Everything is just great! Food is always excellent
Great food and great service! Fantastic evening and a nice time.
My friends and I loved the vibe of this restaurant for a pre-theater meal. Service was efficient and friendly, menu very interesting and our food delicious. An easy 'YES!', give it a try.
I have been for 44 & X several times and this visit did not disappoint. It was wonderful.
After almost 20 years, finally found 44 x. What were we thinking? Apparently, we weren’t.
Excellent, broad-ranging menu and impeccably chosen wines by the glass. This restaurant fitted us like a glove.
Great meal and service. The appetizers are especially great.
Buen restaurante para Brunch en domingo. Buen servicio y precios moderados con calidad en la comida
Service good, spicy margarita cocktail strong, appetizer decent. Main course was so-so. Mahi Mahi, lobster risotto. Fish resembled and tasted a bit like Cisco and there was virtually no lobster in the dish. Tiny flecks of it. They used a yellow cheese resembling cheddar and I thought this strange in a risotto. I have had better and for the price don't know if I will return. We had a great time and dessert was good. Maybe stick with the meatloaf or fried chicken dish, which are there "best".
Outstanding service and food.
I had a great time and the entire staff was very attentive throughout our meal. The food was deliciously well prepared and all the ingredients were still full of fresh flavor. It was a great pre-theater choice.
The food was delicious
The food and service are outstanding. Unfortunately, the noise level is deafening in the main dining room. We had 8pm reservations on a weekday night.
We loved this restaurant so much we went back again a few nights later. Everything was fresh and the flavors were great! A hidden gem close to Theatre. The first night we shared the Mediterranean salad. I had the filet of sole and my mom had the lamb- both were excellent! For dessert we shared the lemon cake. It was light and tangy and had great fresh berries and whipped cream. The second dinner we had the watermelon, tomato and feta salad. (My overall favorite dish) we also shared two appetizers- chicken quesadillas and the seafood ravioli. For dessert we had the cherry pie which was plenty to share but not overly huge. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. I highly recommend going to 44 & X - we’ll be back the next time we are in town.
I enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish! What better way to start off the night for a birthday than this place! I had the filet and have no complaints about it and would recommend this entree to anyone! Well done by the chefs and the service was on point and attentive!
The food was good, service good. Overall a good experience.
Very pleasantly surprised by this place - very inviting interior, good food, and reasonable prices.
A definite place to return!!
The best of everything! The lobster salad was one of my favorite meals ever. Warm, perfectly cooked lobster surrounded by delicious veggies in a light citrus dusting ... yum. Can’t wait to go back. Service is always great .
Eat in the city all the time head out of town relatives brunch was one of the best we have had
This was my second visit to 44&X and after a very enjoyable first experience I chose it to celebrate a very special birthday. The restaurant has a very gay vibe which I enjoy but on this occasion it was filled with pre-theater diners and had a very different ambiance indeed. Things were being rushed and it just lacked the trendiness of the previous visit. Now knowing that I would ensure to be there a little later since at 7:45pm things changed and it took on a much more trendy tone thank goodness.
The food was very good!
However due to inclement weather they closed the outdoor seating and as a result they sent some staff home early. Our server (who had been pretty good) was one of those and he was replaced with an extremely sullen, unfriendly, unprofessional server and for the last 25% of the meal the service experience totally went south. My displeasure must have been obvious since a guy I initially took to be the manager, came up and asked if all was OK. I explained my disappointment (and dissatisfaction with the last part of the service) and he told us that he was in fact the owner. He listened but quite honestly I got the feeling he really didn't care. Therefore we decided to cu the meal short and skip dessert and cognacs and go elsewhere.
There are many places in New York and lots of really great places in this area and sadly this left a bad taste and will not be on our repeat list.
We had dinner pre-theatre. They do not have a fix price dinner, though, which we preferred. Amazing variety of choices for all courses. Many suitable for sharing- blue crab fritter outstanding and huge. Good balance of seafood and meat options// creative and delicious. Highly recommend the cherry pie dessert. Great cocktails. Overall lovely experience. Service was a bit on slow side, but we left lots of time before theater.
This is one of the best run restaurants in New York and is truly a gem in the Hell’s kitchen area.
Attention to detail is the hallmark here along with delicious cuisine, generous portions at fair prices.
Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting, and there are even two chairs available while you wait for your rideshare to arrive. How great is that?
What a great find in NYC! Outstanding food, excellent & friendly wait staff and an overall enjoyable time!!!!
We enjoyed ourselves until dinner was served. Entrees took a very long time to come out after our appetizers, without any acknowledgement from our server. Then he accidentally spilled a glass of wine as the entrees were being served. The drink spilled into a fish entree and on my lap and bag. We mopped it up and my friend asked for a clean plate as the plate had wine in it. The server took a long time to replace her glass, only to deliver a half full glass back to the table. He then gave us major attitude when we complained. Very disappointed with service and food wasn’t anything special that night. Used to be so much better.
Food was amazing. All of us loved our meals. I would definitely come back.
44&X is THE restaurant that you want to eat at in Hell’s Kitchen. It is a beautiful gem in a hip neighborhood that has everything going for it. Bright, efficient and attractive waitstaff wearing Heaven/Hell black t-shirts rise to the occasion to give you a seamless dining experience. Our exceptional server, DJ, was a joy to work with and made the evening so enjoyable.
The food is amazing and served in ample, hearty portions for reasonable prices considering it is New York City. The watermelon salad with heirloom tomatoes is ethereal. It is so good, I have rebooked to eat there a second night in a row.
Do your yourself a favor and forget Eleven Madison Park and eat here instead for a fraction of the cost.
Booked it for lunch with a friend during work day based on good reviews. Walked in and stood in the middle of the restaurant with a host and servers passing by us NUMEROUS times for several minutes with no one so much as acknowledging us. Eventually a host stopped in front of us and said "table for 2?" 2 of us stood there for over 5 minutes and he clearly could see we are not waiting for anyone so I snippely said "Yes" to what he snipped back with "Okay". Great start! No acknowledgment of wait, no sorry for the wait - NADA! He attempts to seat us outside going to the left of the entrance where there are no empty tables. A table literally gets up in front of him and he seats us at a dirty table. Probably 10 minutes later we get water. When we order appetizers and main we are asked if we want them separately or all together? The better question is to say "Are you in a rush today?" like every other restaurant does in NYC at lunch. At their price point i should never sit with an empty water glass. I did for most of the meal! Our main gets cleared and we are given a check - yeap, just like that a check - no coffee, no dessert - just a check. At their price point this service is UNACCEPTABLE. Will take my business to numerous other restaurantS and tell my entire organization with an office near by to eat else where.
The food was overpriced for the small amount that was served and the fish entree had no taste.
One if my favorite places. The food is terrific - brunch selection is excellent - service is first rate and you always feel welcome.
Was fine. Fried chicken rubbery though. Perfectly adequate dinner but nothing special.
Nice restaurant with a wide menu to suit pretty much any taste. The starters were interesting and unique and tasted very nice. There were many good looking items on the menu to choose from. Portion size was pretty large and we did not have room for dessert, but those also looked good. Close to the theater district so it was convenient for dinner before a show.
