44 & X Ratings and Reviews
We had show tickets, so needed to make a quick meal. Servers were able to have us seated and orders taken promptly. Food was tasty and attractively served. We were able to complete our meals and get to the theater in a timely manner.
We would return, and gladly would recommend to friends.
Recommendation: A little more description on menu would be helpful. For example, a persimmon salad was delicious but had not a shred of greens.
We had the Fall Menu: the goat cheese souffle as appetizer, Sea Bass and Halibut for entree and Apple Tart for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly, it was delicious. The ambiance was very relaxing, quaint table for two. We will definitely come again when we visit NYC. Great dinner after the theater!
Took my mother here for weekend brunch and we enjoyed sitting outside, as the restaurant was packed and a bit noisy. Food was delicious--particularly enjoyed the burger and the mini-muffins --and my cocktail (peach bellini) was yummy. Both the hostess and the owner were very kind and communicative. Will definitely come again!
The service has really declined. We were seated outside and constantly had to call for our waiter. He was very inattentive. He was stuck at one table and couldn’t handle more than one table at a time. My filet was dry and not worth the price. The sister restaurant 44 & 1/2 is much better with better food and especially the service.
Excellent!!! Loved the food! Incredible menu, so many great options! The filet mignon was terrific! Great cocktail list! Sadly we were too full for dessert, they looked fantastic! The ambiance was great. Tables a little close together, once the pre theater crowd cleared out there was more room and it was quieter. The service was exceptional! All around fabulous!
My wife and I found this place 15 years ago by accident. I was walking past 44th and 10th on a business trip this past week. I brought 8 of my closest friends with me for a business dinner hoping the food was still as good as it was 15 years ago. I was not disappointed, the braised short ribs are incredible, the steaks are perfect and the fish was outstanding. Plus they still make some of the best cocktails in Hell's Kitchen. I loved this place the first time 15 years ago and i still love it today. You must seek this place when in NYC for any reason, its worth the walk, drive, uber ride. You will NOT be disappointed.
I was appalled by the service at this restaurant. I had been there previously so initially thought this would be a great place to celebrate my friend's birthday brunch. We made a reservation at 2:15pm. When our food was being delivered we asked if we could order more drinks and we're rudely told no, that the bar closed at 3pm. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told there wasn't one available. They then proceeded to tell us that brunch is over at 3pm and "everyone knows this". My reply was that I booked on OpenTable and nowhere did it indicate this was the situation, nor were we told when we sat down by the waitstaff. I love this app and use it all the time - I just felt like you should know about this situation because allowing a restaurant to take a 2:15 reservation when they close at 3pm isn't acceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone - I have never been treated so poorly at any restaurant as the way this establishment did.
I went for Saturday brunch. I liked the place very much, better than the food though. We ordered salmon eggs benedict and mushroom omelette. It was good, there was just nothing particular about it. Also, my eggs benedict arrived a little cold. I really liked the complimentary muffins with butter and jam that they brought us before we ordered.
Lovely welcome - hostess remembered note written on Open Table reservation and congratulated our birthday celebrant. Waiters charming. Coffee great and hot. Muffins on table a nice touch, very tasty too. Would recommend even though a tad noisy on Sunday morning .
