Beautiful restaurant. Great ambience. Servers were attentive and welcoming. Excellent food with many many choices. Highly recommend
Excellent food and service. A bit crowded and noisy but well worth it. We will be back.
I have to say that I was disappointed. Place was too loud and the food was just ok. I had the turkey meatloaf and it was mushy and very salty. The Ceaser salad was incredible. My friend had the baked chicken and due to dietary issues, substituted potatoes for veggies. They also were extremely salty. The arugula and fennel salad was also delicious. The prices were high for the quality of food served. Sadly I wouldn’t return.
I really liked the food and our server. We were SMASHED in between two other dining couples though. Luckily they were very nice but it could have been a different experience if they had not been. I was closer to the diner next to me than my husband across the table! Otherwise I would have given it a 5
Always great. The noise level is always a problem but despite that we enjoyed it thoroughly.
Great place for bunch. Horrible place for dinner.
Second time dining here and it was even better than the last time! The dinner menu is definitely more extensive and impressive than the lunch menu so I had a lot to choose from. The Maine lobster and Maryland crab raviolo was amazing! Way better than I expected. And the roast chicken was not any ordinary chicken either. I got a real “coq au vin” vibe from the meal sitting in a pan jus. Simply yummy and hearty, plenty fragrant too.
Drink suggestions: Tequila Mockingbird & King Kona (if you like baileys)
Great brunch. Seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. Attentive wait staff.
Bring earplugs and plan on shouting to be heard by your dining partner(s). We were sandwiched amongst three obliviously loud and boisterous parties of people. Couldn't wait to get out of your restaurant. Didn't finish my meal or have desert because I was so agitated by the outbursts of laughter and clapping of closeby diners being amused by their friends. We also had to hear all of the details of 'Karen's" divorce. Why is it that there's no monitoring and curbing of this kind of bad behavior? Also your hostess kept whipping chairs around on the wooden floor with no carefulness about the noise she was adding to the space around us.
Always eat a meal at 44 & X when in NYC. Love the food and ambiance.
I've been to this restaurant many times over the years and the food is consistently good. It's a light airy space and the service is casual, but professional and friendly. The portions are bigger than you'd expect, but it's gotten pricey, so be sure to check out the menu before reserving a table so you don't get sticker shock.
The food and service were exceptional as always! While it is expensive I always get my money's worth.
Amazing food!!! Amazing owners!
This was one of the best brunch meals I've had in NYC. Coffee was great, basket of delicious mini-muffins, amazing omelet. Everything we ate was excellent, full of flavor. We will definitely go back.
Have been here a number of times and never disppointed. Excellent food with excellent service though a little pricey. Will continue to frequent whenever I am in the theater district.
Never disappointed. Innovative all the time. Great food and service
Very cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Meal was delicious ... the lobster casserole was unique and amazing! Love vest this place, only a few blocks from the busy theater district.
Consistently good food and service! I love this place
Food was excellent
Far exceeded our expectations
Will go back very soon
Quaint restaurant a little tight to move around. Yummy food. Great portion sizes.
What a nice find in Hell's Kitchen. Hopping on a cold midday Sunday. Staff is terrific. Space is lovely. Food is inventive and very good. Menu is very varied - lots of choices for everyone. Fun drink choices, and fun all around.
AMAZING!!! I insisted we return to possibly attain the same dining experience, food quality, and overall euphoria I had last time I dined here when I visited NYC.
This experience actually surpassed that former!!!!!
I had a really great experience here. The staff was super friendly, the food was delish and atmosphere was cute. I would recommend it to more friends. The only reason that I didn't give it an overall 5 stars was because I had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes before seated. The whole reason for making reservations was to get serviced right away.
Came to NYC This past weekend for my bfs birthday weekend and had to come back to 44 we have to come here anytime we take a trip to the city. The prices are reasonable, love the atmosphere, it can get very busy but it’s never super noisy, and the servers are always wonderful. Highly recommend this place, but make sure you make a reservation so you’re guarwnteed to get in.
The service was awful. Used to love this place—my, has it seen better days. We were a party of two tonight. At the end of our meal, the bartender described it as a “pretty light” Friday night. Nevertheless, it took 24 minutes for the bartender to stop long enough to ask us what we wanted after we sat down and 20 minutes after that for us to get our drinks (during that time, we saw no fewer than a dozen drink tickets arrive after, and get served before, ours). She made excuses all night for being slow or not doing what she said she would (Bread, silverware, drinks, taking our order) based on the orders she was getting (despite the fact she later described it as a light night). She also couldn’t be bothered to answer our questions about the menu (she tapped in a waiter to answer our questions—but not to take our order). Shortly after my entree arrived I asked for another drink. Nearly 20 minutes later (when I was done), she made it.
Fabulous! Great food, lovely staff, not to be missed!
Neighbourhood feel with great ambiance. Interesting and flavourful dishes that were beautifully presented.
Really enjoyed my latest visit to 44 & X. First of all it is VERY friendly. Great staff for sure. The bar is great and the bartender was very knowledgable about wine. My friend and I sat at the bar and went to dinner. the wine is a bit pricey so be aware of that fact. Our waiter was great and knew the menu. I had one of the best fried chicken meals EVER. How do you make fried chicken and it not be greasy. Worth a trip back just for that. When we first got there it was very noisy. It seemed to quiet down later in the evening. I highly recommend 44 & X.
Perfect for pre theater brunch on Sunday. The staff was warm and welcoming...respectful and attentive wait staff. Good variety and choices for brunch.
Had pre-show Sunday brunch with six people and everything from the mini muffins provided before the meal to the food itself and the Bellinis were spot on.
Always enjoy our experience here. Food is consistently excellent and the room is lively. Tight quarters mean you get to know your neighboring diners a bit, but that is half the fun. We love dining here and will definitely return soon.
Saturday lunch. The host was uppity. Our table must have been the worst in the house (behind a pilar, but it was immediately ready). No specialties. By the glass wines: one white, one red. The white not too good. Food taste and presentation were lackluster. This restaurant's best days are far behind them, but due to the poor selection of restaurants in this area, they continue to exist. Nothing special here.
Great food, a bit crowded but try to go to brunch there whenever in thee city
Went for pre-theater when restaurant was empty. Service was not particularly warm. Menu reaches beyond the kitchen’s capacity. Food was overly salted. I did like the design & vibe of the restaurant & it’s windows are lovely.
Did not disappoint- highly recommend.
Second time here and the food and service is amazing!
Service wasn’t as efficient as it normally six Min dishes were great, appetizers mediocre for the price. Food hasn’t been as consistent as it had been for years
This restaurant is one of our favorites for a pre-theater dinner. The food is excellent, as is the service. Highly recommended! The fish dishes are particularly outstanding.
Always a great meal. Delicious Food. Excellent Service. Extra shout out to the bartender. Drinks were perfect.
I go to this restaurant for dinner a lot and it’s consistently good, not great. But brunch was excellent. They are generous with their portions, the good is good and it’s a lively atmosphere.
