42nd Street Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was amazing, knew the menus like the back of his hand very knowledgeable and very friendly, also food was very great I had the 10 oz fillet mignon and my wife had the mahi-mahi we also indulges in the lobster tail it was amazing we were told they only do it three times a year and after eating it that’s just awful it was so delicious they should keep it on the menue in my opinion 5 star experience overall the price wasn’t all bad kind of high for my taste to be honest but well worth it
My wife and I enjoy dining at the restaurant for the old time atmosphere, good seafood and generally good service. We ordered a shrimp cocktail to share, cheese potato, sweet potato, blackened grouper and salmon. Everything was delicious. The shrimp were fresh and crisp. The grouper and salmon arrived at our table piping hot. The blackened grouper was pretty spicy as I like it. The sweet potato was large and very good. The cheese potatoes OK. The hush puppies were delicious as always. The salads were fresh and crisp. Our server, Mara, was terrific. She was friendly, prompt and on the ball. We were seated in our preferred booth after a short wait on a busy Valentines Day evening. The restaurant does an excellent job planning for reservations. We are always seated promptly no matter how busy it is.
First time at Raleigh location, have enjoyed at RDU before. Service was great, Food was very good, atmosphere nice too. If you are looking for seafood and a pleasant meal wrapped around it, this is the place. Great hush puppies, careful to leave room for your meal!!
I hadn't been to 42nd Street for quite some time. It seems to have gone downhill. There were several mistakes in our order. Our server seemed distracted and did not bring requested items. She also took condiments away before we were finished with our meal. Also, the food was just "meh." For an establishment with such a reputation, and for the prices they charge, I expect a lot more.
The food was delicious as always! My son wanted crab legs for his birthday dinner and 42nd Street was the best choice! Kelly was an amazing server and was very attentive to our needs. And my son even got a free dessert for his birthday! All around a wonderful evening!
This was my fourth visit to 42nd Street. This was for a birthday celebration and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The band was better on my previous visits in that the other bands played a diverse music set . The band on 2/9 played only rock style music. I will also note that this visit my server was not as conscientious as servers in the past have been. Several items were forgotten and boxes were brought to the table while most of the party was still actively eating. However, her co-worker discreetly stepped right in to make sure we had what we needed I'm not even sure she was ever aware of the forgotten items or the the fact she should not assume that people will share dipping butter. Nevertheless, those were small side notes in the scheme of things and they did not at all diminish our 42nd Street experience! We had a blast and will certainly be back!
Most everything was amazing! Very wide selection of oysters on the half shell. I had the shrimp and catfish for dinner which was outstanding. My wife opted for a few apps for her meal. She had fried green tomatoes and salad and the blackened ahi bites. The ahi bites didn’t really seem like you got what you paid for. They also seemed overly Smokey. It was 4 bites on a small bed of nachos. We just opted not to eat this entree. We would certainly go back though. Service and most of the food was great.
We had 8:30 reservations and were seated by 8:40. We placed our order at 8:55 and our food arrived to two of our party by 9:20. The other two received their order by 10:15. Worst experience we have ever had there. Normally it is spot on but not this time. We were comped with the two free meals . Hopefully this was a once in a lifetime experience. We love coming here.
42nd St Oyster Bar never disappoints! My brother and sister-in-law flew in for my Dad's 70th birthday celebration and joined us at the Oyster bar. The guys enjoyed oysters at the bar for happy hour and then we enjoyed the Grouper for our entrees in the dining room. Blake our server was awesome. Friendly, funny and so accommodating.
We love this place!!!
Our waiter was very nice and told us that he was in training right from the start. Well it didn’t seem like he was new, because he came to the table multiple times to check on us and poured more wine into our wine glasses every time it was almost empty. Amazing service. I will recommend this place
