Wrote a really long review and then pressed something on my phone and it went. In summary I love this place and cannot praise it enough, everything about it made our experience really special so thank you. We will definitely return.

Our waiter was nice and helpful but whole atmosphere was uncomfortable as a lot of stuff was around the bar and were discussing how to serve customers, they were lauder than clients, I do not understand this behaviour, this should be discussed before or after restaurant is open. The main meal was so small that I thought it was a starter and it was not anything special. For the desert, I ordered strawberry Victorian sponge, which was awful, it only looked nice but it was tasteless. I will not go back there and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

I had a table booked for 9 people and arrived an hour and a half early for the reservation. We had intended to go elsewhere for drinks beforehand but the host was lovely and showed us to our table, despite being so early. One member cancelled which was probably a good thing because more than 8 people would have been a bit of a squeeze, but the service was absolutely fantastic, the food was amazing, the cocktails were very yummy, the place was beautiful and full of life. I think it's safe to say the dinner was a success and I will definitely be going back, as will the rest of our party :)

Me and a friend went for afternoon tea here on Saturday and had a very warm welcome along with complementary champagne. The food was really nice, service was outstanding. I will be recommending tea 42 to all my friends .

I have been here before for lunch and I thought it was brilliant, but on this occasion a group of seven of us booked for an evening meal for two birthdays. I booked with open table for seven people but on the day they confirmed the booking for six, I had to phone to explain it was booked for seven, and they did alter the booking. On arriving at the restaurant they said we should have pre ordered being a large party?. On the whole the service was abysmal but that was not the fault of our waitress who was very smiley, happy and friendly, she was just not given any help to serve. Four of us had to wait a further twenty minutes for our desserts after the others had eaten theirs. The food on the whole was very tasty, but lacking in portion size. The cheeseboard was definately not worth the two pounds extra per person added on to the bill. We also did not appreciate the compulsory 10% service charge added onto the bill with receiving such poor service. The wine we ordered originally they had not got in stock either, so we had to make do with a substitute which was not very good.

The restaurant is great for Coeliacs as they made me feel normal for the first time since I was diagnosed 12 years ago. The entire menu is gluten free, even the pies which is unheard of in other restaurants. A wonderful experience.

Dropped in on a Friday night after forgetting to book anywhere, amazing to have cake and tea as an alternative to cocktails (although delicious cocktails are available ;)) Gorgeous gluten free apple and almond cake with a helping of smiley service. Really nice relaxed atmosphere, great for catching up with friends or a romantic dinner. Can't wait to try afternoon tea. Thanks tea 42.
