The food was good, not great. We shared the chilled asparagus soup, which was excellent. The lamb cavatelli was also great but just a bit salty. Lastly, we had the rabbit with dirty rice; the rabbit was dry and over cooked and the rice was bland.
Overall we spent $100 on two cocktails and an appetizer and two entrees. We weren’t full and ended up getting some pizza across the street.
Good place for a group dinner where you can order a bunch of dishes and share. Cocktails were also excellent. Service was very good too.
Overall a 3.5-4 for me.
Food was great! Service was just right. Have never had a bad meal here!
Knowledgeable waitstaff, great overall dining experience
Our server was outstanding. Cocktails especially with whiskeys are a house specialty. Wine list was varied and fun. Best smoked fried chicken we ever had. Chocolate sorbet was out of control good. We would come back for sure if ever back in Nashville
404 File Not Found error for this place in its new location and won’t be returning. Nice server and manager but too little too late. Paid well more than a hundred dollars for a) meal that could have been made at home and tasted better (polenta was drowning in oil) and b) nothing unique on the menu that cant be found at many, many other places in Nashville at better value. Also, the parking situation in the Gulch is ridiculous (paying $17 - incl tip - is dumb. Our choice, yes, but options are poor).
Over priced and underwhelming Risotto you could have held upside down without fear of spilling it and to salty Steak 4 small bite size pieces on a bed o $2 dollar heavily salted beans awful Pasta nothing in it Duck and salad Ok Over priced beer wine and champagne Not a chef just a cook for $400 + for 3 people Go somewhere else They dont know what they are doing Sad but true
Service was outstanding. Food was OK. Out of the crab appetizer at 1:45 so we ordered the monkey bread. The monkey bread wasn’t warm as I expected. Wife and daughter ordered the bourbon French toast and it too was not warm as we expected as well as the bread became soggy with the alcohol soaking through. Very rich as well. This was Mother’s Day and the restaurant was very busy.
We will go back but not necessarily for brunch.
This was my 2nd visit to the 404 Kitchen. The first time the food was better. We were not overly impressed with the food, especially considering the price. First, I ordered burratta which was advertised on a bed of spring vegetables. It came on a salad, and the salad had no dressing. I had to ask for a vinaigrette to add to the salad. I can a duck leg entree, which was good, not great, and the rest of the dish was not as described. In addition, when I made the reservation, I told the host it was for my husband's birthday and expected they would bring him a dessert or acknowledge it. They did not. The space is nice and our server was great, but for the money, it wasn't quite worth it.
Great food and service however noise level was so high it was hard to hear at your own table and we could barely understand the waitress when she spoke and he was struggling to talk above the noise.
The food was amazing. After waiting for 45 minutes past our reservation, I thought I would go up to the bar and get my wife and I a drink while we waited. Unfortunately, I was completely ignored by at least 3 people behind the bar even after making eye contact. I'm not quite sure what that was all about. A man I assume was the downstairs supervisor/manager also made eye contact and continued to ignore me while making small talk with the other people behind the bar. This went on for about 10 minutes until I finally walked away. Must be that southern hospitality I am always hearing about.
So disappointed with our experience tonight. We have eaten here before & loved it. Food was average & service was mediocre. Tab was $240 for two people - probably won’t be back.
Everything was spot on. Party of six... four of us shared the smoked fried chicken and the Tri Tips and holy cow!! Amazing. All of the sides were great. Terrific service. One of the best meal experiences in Nashville!
Food was disappointing this time. We have fined here before multiple times and it has always been good but the food was different this time. It wasn’t just the dish I had.
My appetizer was not good either.
I ended up not finishing either dish I ordered
Beautiful modern interior. Our server was excellent. Appetizer (scallop toast) and Entrees were delicious: lamb, filet, & the swordfish. The sides were not good:Kale and corn bread...both over cooked/baked. They also charged us $7.00 per person for sparkling water which is very high. I told my husband after leaving that it must have been an error? Overall, would go back.
We were strangers to Nashville, coming from the UK, so took advice on a good place to eat. Two different sources recommended 404 Kitchen, so we took a chance and we were delighted with our choice. The initial welcome was warm and friendly, the restaurant and decor was very inviting and our table waitress was a delight. She was helpful, courteous and professional, excellent at her job and gave us first class service all evening.
My wife and I chose the rabbit, whilst our friends chose the chicken to share. We were all really pleased with our choices. Although feeling very full, my wife and shared a carrot cake desert to finish off.
Your member of staff on the door couldn’t have been more helpful as we were leaving, arranging our hotel courtesy car to come and pick us up. 404 Kitchen is an excellent restaurant and a credit to you and Nashville. Thank you for the most enjoyable night.
Our waitress was phenomenal and really made the experience even more enjoyable than it already was. Great food, great dinner!
Yummy fresh food, attentive service, cool atmosphere in the Gulch.
Was in town to run a half marathon. Read good reviews and most importantly there was pasta (pre-race day carbs jackpot!). Food was good and portion sizes were appropriate. Our server - I believe his name was Scott - was excellent. He was incredibly accommodating, on-point and also helpful in providing guidance to the city. Would go back again next time in town.
The food quality and quantity were good. The service was efficient and timely.
Excellent service from Megan. She paced our meal perfectly as I was with a friend and we had a lot to catch up on. She was also intuitive anf knew the perfrct time to speak to us, and other times she simply resrt the table as we talked. The food is unbelievable and approachable. We loved the scallop toast, gnudi, and blondie. For a fun surprise, check out the wallpaper in the women's bathroom. I'll definitely be back!
Easter brunch at 2p
Celebrating Easter with brunch at 404. Glad we had reservations as they were busy. Service and food were very good. 404 Kitchen was the choice our 30 something children for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised. I had never been inside this location.
One note. The stairs to the dining room are very steep. If a guest has issues with that I suggest the elevator.
I’ve been for dinner & it was great. Easter brunch was terrible. The food was awful... the portions are super small - my 12 year old ordered the French toast but they brought her a kids French toast which was literally a slice of bread cut into 4 pieces. For $10. The server, while kind, cake to ask us how our food was after we were finished & ready for our check. Definitely a huge waste of money.
Fabulous food and service! Downstairs bar was a little slow, but great cocktails.
I had previously been to 404 Kitchen for dinner, and really enjoyed it. This time I went for Easter brunch and was very disappointed. The portions were tiny, all four entrees that my group ordered were mediocre at best, extremely disappointing for a final check of nearly $200. The service and the drinks were great, but I won't be back.
Food was very poor overall; did not match description. It would have been poor food at Waffle House pricing but at the price point it was awful food. Will not be back
We had a great experience. The tri tip, in particular, was outstanding. Also recommend the Brussels Sprouts. Looking forward to being back!
Service, food, ambiance - everything was spot on! Easy valet parking. I had the amberjack and it was delicious. Potatoes and brussel sprouts on the side. Service was attentive but not overly so, we could take our time. Will definitely be back!
We went for our anniversary. Wonderful food and our server, Ashley, was AMAZING!
For a James Beard-nominated restaurant, I had higher expectations about the food quality and taste. Our food was just OK, and given that, the food was way overpriced.
Like my other favorite Nashville restaurants, you can taste the passion 404 has for food.
Looks posh but it is all a facade.
The waiter, Austin was amazing!!!
This is my first visit back to 404 since it was across the street. The 404 across the street had an amazing energy and life to it. It was rustic, fun, lively, and felt southern. Watermark and now 404 tend to have a very outdated vibe with no view of a bar or a kitchen or anything that connects you to the actual process. It almost has this 80's new age vibe that to me doesn't seem to fit the food. That all being said the food was outstanding.
Excellent dinner - very knowledgeable staff, great presentation, and delicious!
The setting inside and out is terrific, the service is wonderful but 404 needs to add some flavor to its food. The highly recommended fried chicken was dry and flavorless, the baked cauliflower tasted torched, the kale salad was actually beet greens and had to ask for extra dressing.....
The food was expensive and not that good. The pasta dish had 7 gnudi in a boat of sauce. The trout was mediocre
Food and service was excellent. There was a large noisy group in the next room but the staff handled it well and even shut some of the dividers and reseated people near by. Will return.
Great food and great service. Love the atmosphere!
