400 Beach Seafood & Tap House Ratings and Reviews
Food pretty good, but service was appalling and very unprofessional. Waitress was horrible and throughout the meal, was constantly selling us on more food, more wine, more dessert, etc. We, the hosts, ordered wine for the table and she kept over-pouring and pushing it on people who didn’t want it, constantly trying to talk all of us into trying both types we ordered (for the table) and telling our guests they should be drinking more, to celebrate the occasion. If someone agreed to try “just a taste” of one of them, she would pour 2/3 of a glass. We told her to stop doing that, but she ignored our instruction and continued over-pouring, until we had to tell her not to touch the wine anymore.
She asked the table if anyone wanted appetizers. We all said no, but then she went around to every single person, took the main course order.....and again proceeded to push hard, on the appetizers, trying to sell each and every person into ordering one, even when someone said no five times. Again, we had to tell her to back off the hard sell, but she continued. THEN she started trying to sell plates of appetizers, for the table. We told her to stop. Same thing happened with the desserts. Also, nobody could seem to get an uninterrupted sentence spoken, because she constantly was bursting into our conversations and interrupting. Plus, wait staff was delivering food to our table constantly (not at the same time, as it should have been), with no clue who each dish was for, so they had to ask who gets each plate. We felt like we were at a fast food joint.
We drove over from Riverview to have a birthday lunch for my husband. We were accompanied by our young teen kids and my husband’s parents. We all decided on the Sunday brunch (except for my daughter who got mini cheeseburgers). We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food on the buffet. The food was kept warm and it was delicious. The carving and omelette station were also superb.
It was my Birthday celebration. My martini was excellent. Our waitress pleasant & efficient. I had the Grouper Special & it was good. My dinner mate ordered the pork chops. She said they were ok. I took her chop bone. I owned a restaurant for 21 yrs. The reason it was ok with her would have been unacceptable to me. They grilled those chops on a dirty grill. The chop tasted of old grease. Such a shame. And no excuse for this. We will eat down the street next time.
Great brunch buffet. We had fantastic service from Evan. She was very attentive and informed. Brunch was delicious. Food was still hot even later in the morning. Selection was great. The area was kept very clean which is appreciated. And the outside allowed plenty of room for an active preschooler to move around without disturbing other parties.
We dined on a Friday night during busy downtown lighting of trees in Straub Park. Even with large crowd indoors and outdoors our service was next to perfect. Matilda was so accommodating when we had three different t arrivals at our table before ordering. Consistently good food keeps people returning. Salmon and scallops were two outstanding entrees among the six of us.
This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. We had the Grouper Oscar and the Seafood Louis. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were large. Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. This isn’t our first visit and we will definitely return.
Had quick dinner with friends at 8
Oyster app was poorly presented and oyster meat was hacked up.
Scallops w corn risotto was very good
I had 2 apps for main and they were good but nothing special.
Service was ok waiter was a bit hectic but maybe due to him being only one outside at that time
We love dining at 400 Beach. Unfortunately this night, we ate outside near a table with an impatient young child who was dancing around the table, talking very loudly and somehow was related to one of the servers. It was difficult to talk and eat as the child was right on my elbow. Also, the public was walking right by the table as they passed by selling flowers, a large group staring at our food. Poor traffic pattern.
Lastly, the metered parking by the restaurant is payable till 10pm; luckily we caught a break and got a warning. Park in the parking garage and get your ticket stamped for free parking! Lesson learned.
Overall, I was disappointed when I left, full but disappointed.
Found the restaurant on Trip Advisor and had glowing reviews on there. The reviews were spot-on and we found our food to be wonderful as well. The location was easy to find and the free valet parking was an added bonus. Our waiter was punctual and food delivered hot and ready to eat. I had the grouper and it was fantastic - friends had the mahi-mahi and it too was fantastic.
A great meal, and excellent service ! Very attentive . my husband did several appetizers as his main meal , the mussels and the pork sliders were great and plenty of food , I had the grouper blackened , really fresh excellent taste had them put aside of mango salsa on top it was perfect. Had the quarter fries and they were really good . Happy hour wines were 3 dollars ! Our servers were really good , prompt ..i would go back in a heartbeat , Great meal at a great price and perfect before a show we went to see jethro Tull
Great location in DTSP. Outside table is a must if weather is comfortable. We read the reviews and decided to try it. We drove over an hour, which we don't mind doing for a great meal. Two of us ordered the pork chop dinner, and the other two seafood entrees. The pork chops were undercooked, not seasoned...and very tough. A steak knife had trouble cutting them. The waiter recommended them over salmon. The chorizo risotto was very bland as well. The king crab legs tasted like propane gas, which only butter helped disguise. The only decent entree was the scallops (also served with bland chorizo risotto). We politely told the waiter about not recommending the pork chops to which he replied "ok." A man we assume to be the manager stopped and asked about our meals and offered to change the pork chop dinners for something else, but we declined as our other dinner guests were almost done with their meals. He did provide 2 complimentary desserts that were okay. The key lime pie was tasty and the flourless chocolate cake is very rich and dense...best shared. The waiter didn't clear the dirty plates from our table. All in all, we won't go back to this restaurant. A $200 tab that was a huge disappointment for our birthday celebration dinner.
Very pleasant wait staff and tables on patio, although it’s also a throughway for pedestrians with cars driving between tables and park, so it isn’t intimate. Even so a pleasant spot facing park and watching world go by.
Hubbie had Mahi Mahi with a tandoori flaire and I️ had a small wedge ( generous) and an appetizer size of Libster Mac. I’m giving food 3 stars as this was a bit dry and salad rather slathered in dressing.
Would go back and try different options.
The waiter who served us had trouble hearing us, although it wasn’t too loud. He wasn’t very friendly or did anything to make our meal enjoyable. It wasn’t very busy but he seemed to be rushing us. He also cleared plates before everyone had finished which was poor. His attitude did spoil our evening. That being said we will give it another go as food was okay.
I have eaten here many time and it has always been good. I would have given it fives but an annoying thing happened to me on the last visit. My typical order of a dozen raw oysters included one that was about the size of marble and looked like a baby had chewed on it. When the waiter asked me if I wanted to eat the last one I said, no it looks disgusting and suspicious. He should have at the very least offered to bring a new one out, but he didn't.
Lynn, our waitress was phenomenal! I asked her if she knew the gluten free options and promptly brought me a gf menu. She had great suggestions for our kids and even a perfect selection for me to have gluten free fish tacos.
We were given this restaurant as a recommendation, and I can’t wait to tell others how much we loved it too!
I was visiting St Petersburg, looking for good, fresh seafood. The iced seafood combo was indeed good. The shrimp was excellent, the crab legs good; the oysters a bit small and not real flavorful. The salad was delicious. Sitting outside, just across from the harbor, was very pleasant.
We looked for a restaurant close to Mahaffey theatre to have dinner before a show. What a wonderful surprise! Beautiful dining area, excellent food, fast service and the early bird special was a great price and sufficient size. Will be sure to go again, the next time we are in St Pete for an event.
We had made a reservation and we're seated right away, loved we could park around the corner at parking garage for free did tip guys, our server Whitney was super, food was great, such great flavors, always a great place to go.
Enjoyed our visit here. Came to dinner here with Mom because we were in the mood for seafood. I had the stir fry with shrimp and she had scallops and risotto. The setting or the view was fantastic... absolutely beautiful. The food was very good.
The wait service was efficient without being too efficient. I hate being rushed it's a pet peeve of mine. The atmosphere has a mix of being elegant and casual at the same time. We sat outside and enjoy the beautiful breeze that evening. Very much enjoyed it.
