40/40 Club Ratings and Reviews
I've been here before for happy hour and liked the crowd and music as well as the drinks and appetizers so I thought I'd try out dinner this time. Even though we made a reservation, there was no host to check in with so as soon as we came in we had to ask two different bus boys and a waiter where we should go to be seated and everyone seemed confused and we were ultimately sent upstairs by someone and found an empty table and sat down. Not a fan of the layout of the space. All of the booths with real seating for dinners are reserved for VIP seating only so "regular diners" like my party have to eat dinner at the upstairs bar on stools. Not very comfortable. On top of that, the service was extremely slow. There seemed to be just one waitress working the entire upper level section. It took forever to just to put in our drink order. The food was okay, but not spectacular. I'd never go back there for dinner. The bar scene looked decent downstairs and we initially planned to check it out after dinner but it took so long to order/receive/pay for dinner, that we just left afterwards, frustrated. If I go back, it'd just be for happy hour.
Didn't know what kind of environment we were going to when we made the reservation but we were pleasantly surprised. The lounge atmosphere was very nice, playing earlier rap in the background kept us humming the entire time, and my steak and her Mac and cheese were very good. She said she wants to come back next time she's in town so, win for this place.
The service was outstanding and I love the atmosphere. The grilled salmon was delicious and my husband had roasted chicken and he said it was so good. I live in TN. but I will recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely be back when we return to NYC. The 40/40 club is a really good place to have a good time!
My friends and I just came for a night out.. We had dinner and drinks. We sat in a booth. The waitress was good and very attentive. The drinks were good . Thank you to the bartendar. It was a thursday and a very slow night. We had a great time. T.V.'s all over . This is a great place to watch a sporting event
Extremely poor service by host - place was empty and she attempted to force us to sit at worst table. It took over 30 minutes for waitress to bring our check. Despite the nice ambiance and potential, I can see why this place was mostly empty. Fixing the service could go a long way to help this establishment.
Decided to watch the Giants playoff game here. Apparently there was a minimum of $300 per table which was not disclosed on Open Table. That was kind of upsetting when we arrived with a party of FOUR for a 4:40pm Sunday football game. Anyways, the service was good, as in they were efficient, quick, and usually always available, however, our server lacked social skills. Nonetheless, the venue's layout is fantastic for any type of viewing event. There are two giant grid screens above the bar which faces the stadium seating. We had a couch on the stadium leveled seating which was pretty cool, although the couches could have been more comfortable, especially for a $300 daytime minimum. Overall, the venue's layout is very unique and deserves to be checked out by anyone who has never been there.
Showed up on Monday night to watch the Monday nighter and have some wings. Wings were great, our first server was average but the one that took over for her was great. As we were getting ready to leave JayZ and Beyonce walked in for the Roc Nation Christmas party. Needless to say, we grabbed another drink and hung out for the rest of the game. I hate clubs but this is a great balance with the night club feel in a sports bar.
My husband and I was in Manhattan visiting from Atlanta and was very anxious to visit the Club. We attended on Sunday November 14th @ around 7:30 pm. When we walked in a young lady greeted us at the door. Her attire didn't represent the club well "looked a little tacky". I expected a little more cheerful greeting i suppose. I ordered the southern fried shrimp, crab cake & chicken fried rice. "Was extra hunger...Saved my stomach for 40/40 all day". Waitress cam e back and told me they were out of fried shrimp, so i ordered the grilled marinated garlic shrimp. She came back once more to tell me they weren't available. OK....... So I ordered the catfish. By this time, i was still willing to give the place a chance because I was excited to be there. But after looking around, it was so empty. No one was there. I expected people to knocking down the door to get in due to the fact that Jay-Z owned it. Guess Not! I think that better advertising is needed and better management is needed as well. Although the bar waitress was friendly, it was a FAKE friendly. I don't write reviews that often, but when I do "ITS NEEDED". I expect more from a club that has JAY-Z's name on it and I'm sure he does as well. I know it was Sunday, but if this club was in the city of Atlanta and not the Airport, this place would be packed every night. Just my thoughts...........
The service was horrible. I made a reservation for a table of 11. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had to pay a $10 cover for women and $20 for men. I inquired about our table, and was told to go inside and wait and someone would come get us. Needless to say, we never got a table. This place is a total rip off!
Not what I expected. Traveled all the way from Dallas, made reservations a month+, in advance, get there, there was no need to even have a reservation, we basically seated ourselves and it was only about 50 ppl in the entire place including staff, I thought we might have been early, but it was only about 10 ppl left after 12am. the best bartender left at 12. This bartender was actually nice, but I don't know if that's because our waitress was so rude we ended up just leaving and was talking about it outside and the manager happened to overhear us, (we had no clue he was the manager until he was like "I'm sorry about yalls experience, how can I make it you all, because I'm the manager?") We were so disgusted at the service that we just wanted to leave, and he offerered to buy us a round of drinks to make the experience better. That was the only good part about the whole thing. With all the hype, I expected more, since it was owned by Jay-Z. He would have done better to open a Basic fast food restaurant instead of this because customer service at McDonald's is better. Our waitress needs to take a few classes on customer service and being more attentive. I order a peach Margarita from the frozen drinks menu, she bought me back a plain margarita on the rocks. So I asked her to come back to the table and asked her, "what type of margarita is this, she replied "a plain margarita", I said this is not what I ordered, she said well I only heard Margarita and began to walk away, saying "maybe you can get that on the next round", until I was like can I have what I ordered? So she went and changed it. The drinks were very watered down. After 3 drinks,no buzz. The food was horrible, I ordered the empanadas, they were cold, and tasted like something from your local grocery store freezer, that was heated up. Couldn't finish them. My friend ordered the nachos, and they were so nasty, she couldn't eat 2 bites.
On Aug 27 we came to the 40 40 club to celebrate my cousins pre- bridal party. The food was great, the drinks were great. the club was exquisitely decorated. I was in awe when I entered the building. The staff sealed the deal, they were nice and very attentive. A pretty young lady by the name of Jamie was assigned as our server, Not only did she get the things we needed, she gave us a tour of the club, took our pictures and made sure we were
Comfortable with our stay. Try to keep her employed, she's a great asset.
I highly recommend this club, and when I travel back to New York from Florida at the end September I would love to attend. Good luck on your many years of business going forward.
