3rd & Ferry Fish Market Ratings and Reviews
Food was very good and our server was excellent. However, the acoustics are horrible so it is a relief to get outside after an hour there. It is not the place for a romantic dinner if that is what you want. Despite having made reservations, we were seated at a table for two on the edge of the row directly next to the open kitchen. My chair was bumped constantly as servers went past with food and as customers came and went. However, no other tables for two were available. If you go, ask for a table away from the traffic.
Not being a huge seafood household, we decided to have my parents 40th anniversary here since they love seafood. We were extremely happy with everything we tried. From the apps to the entrees, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The staff was friendly and attentive. The beer and drink selection had a distinguishable amount of choices. We will be back. It felt like we were guests in a friend's home. We haven't had that feeling about any establishment since Looper's.
I was excited to try 3rd & Ferry and enjoyed it but it was not special enough to re-visit.
At 1st our server seemed annoyed by us, almost like he didnt have the patience for us or our questions. He warmed up as he meal progressed. The beer flights are fantastic and reasonably priced but the beer was warm. Beer should be servced COLD.
They had a large selction of appetizers and we ordered 4. The calamari was fresh and delicious...but the waiter never asked us if we wanted classic or traditional ... We wanted Rhode Island calamari with banana peppers...ended up with plain old calamari thanks to the waiter who couldnt be bothered to take the time for us. The other apps were average but nothing special. The dessert was the best part of the meal. They have delicious pie and ice cream. But even the ice cream wasn't cold! It felt like they had an air conditioning and refrigeration problem. It was a nice place but nothing special, in my opinion.
We arrived and were taken to our table for a five o'clock reservation. When we arrived at our table the hostess says sorry the table isn't ready. There were at minimum ten other empty tables and she made us return out front to wait for our table to be cleaned. We were then brought back and seated directly next to another couple...with all of the empty tables around! This was our first time at the restaurant...and our last.
Took a while for the waitress to initially come to the table but then things went smoother. The manager came and spent time with our little girl and made her day. They got my order wrong but then comped is a dessert to make up for it. We frequent this place and generally really like it and have always had really good experiences.
I booked our reservation for Sunday Brunch I put with the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. Not once during our whole time there was a birthday mentioned. Why have a place to add details like this if you're not even going to acknowledge them? I enjoyed the overall ambience of the restaurant and our food was great. The service wasn't that great. The oysters were delicious! I am a server myself so I try not to be over critical of other servers, but our server didn't check up on us much. I actually had another server get our check and check us out since our meter was expiring soon and we didn't see our server for awhile. Despite this I will be back again to enjoy the Sunday Brunch specials, but I don't think I'll bring anyone here again for a birthday.
On the positive side, it has a very nice vibe and and a nice atmosphere. Appears to be a great place to grab a drink and appetizer or a beer and burger. Seems like a local hot spot for that reason. But don't expect anything finer than that. This is a beginner level "seafood" restaurant at best. Review - Again, don't call this place a fish market just because you have clams and oysters. May want to actually have a couple of unique fish specials. And crab stuffed tilapia is just a generic dish. Only "fish" special was scallops. First, we were seated upstairs in a corner that had very little light and was hot. Thankfully people kept walking by so we got a little breeze. Drinks were fine but not much of a wine list. Ordered our meal and received the appetizers. Calamari was OK, but the crab cake sliders were mediocre. More pasty than crab cake and on a very crappy bun. As we were eating our appetizers they delivered the meal. So we had to quickly finish appetizers and start the main meal. This is the sign of a very disorganized kitchen or a restaurant that just wants to push through the patrons. It killed the whole meal. Most ordered the pan seared scallops which were downright disappointing. You can judge a good to great restaurant by the way they cook scallops, you get that nice brown sear. Not here! One or two had it but the rest had that unappetizing white scallop top. Very inconsistent. The sauce was also overpowering and drowned out the flavor of the scallops. Had to scrape it off to reduce the potency. The combination plate looked even worse. My mom told me it was one of the worst meals she ever had. We finished the dinner and got out of there. No coffee or desert. Again, it appears to be a great meeting spot for a burger and beer or oysters. But don't go here for any type of dining experience or a decent meal.
Fresh seafood to die for. I had the crab legs and they were so yummy. They came with potatoes and green beans. My husband had the special of the day which was braised short ribs. We both couldn't stop raving about it. We love coming here and look forward to our return trip.
Our experience from beginning to end was fantastic. Oysters, ceviche, calamari...all of the Staples perfect. Christa was a great server, attentive but not overbearing. Everyone worked well together and staff was always smiling. Shows me they are all happy working for this establishment. That makes a guests experience 100 times better!
Following several great experiences at Third and Ferry our latest visit was somewhat spoiled by excessive heat in the 90's, due to a failed AC unit in our area, and excessive noise, most likely due to the mezzanine level table. One would think that older people would not be seated in the hottest noisiest and most difficult to access area!!!
WE LOVE EATING AT THIS PLACE. WE NORMALLY SIT AT THE BAR AND EAT.
THE SERVICE IS GENERALLY GOOD BUT ON SUNDAY, MOTHERS DAY LEFT A LOT
TO BE DESIRED. ALTHOUGH MY DAUGHTER & I MADE A 3PM RESERVATION, WE
ONCE AGAIN OPTED TO SIT AT THE BAR. THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT CROWDED AT ALL.
SERVICE WAS POOR....APPETIZERS WERE SERVED WITH NO PLATE, UTENSILS OR NAPKIN.'
IT TOOK A BIT BEFORE WE COULD GET SOMEONES ATTENTION. APPETIZERS PLATES WERE NOT REMOVED WHEN DINNER PLATES CAME. NO SALT AND NO ONE LOOKING OUT FOR US.
IT TOOK 9 MINS JUST TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE BAR SERVER TO GET THE BILL.
THEN IT TOOK 10-15MINS FOR THEM TO GET THE PAYMENT.
STILL NO CROWD IN THE RESTAURANT
FOOD IS SOOOO GOOD BUT SERVICE IS LACKING. I
Family in from Chicago....they loved 3rd and Ferry fish market. the sword fish was fish and cooked perfectly....the service was outstanding....I love the team effort towards quality service . The waitress got very busy and hostess came over and took our drink order ....wow....you do not see that very often. Everything was out standing ...take you.
I have dined at this restaurant several times and have always had a fine meal. On this occasion the mahi mahi was very dry. That said, the shrimp cocktail was excellent and so was my wife's tuna entree'. The service was very good and the ambiance is always pleasing. I will continue to have this restaurant on my list of regulars.
