Took my 12 year old grandson to introduce him to finer dining. He finally got to taste a great clam chowder, not that goopy stuff with too many potatoes and few pieces of clam! We weren't rushed and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I will definitely bring his brothers when their palettes have expanded a bit more.
This was our 5th time at 3rd & Ferry. It seems to be diminishing over time. The selling point is that it's a fresh fish and seafood place and yet their fish is just so-so. Clam chowder was tasty but had very little in it and it was just a cup of watery warm milk with a spoonful of tiny items. It also had two baby clams in the shell in the bowl so I had to fish those out in order to eat the soup. Caesar salad had so many hard thick Parmesan pieces that I felt I was eating a cheese salad with bits of lettuce. And the lobster roll came with icy cold lobster knuckle pieces on a wet and greasy toasted croissant. I ate the lobster with a fork because the roll collapsed to mush and was unappetizing. The only good thing was the large pile of shoestring potatoes which were crisp outside and creamy inside. My husband told me later that he has run out of things to order because the things he has had in the past also were mediocre. So we won't be going back there again.
Loved the atmosphere and our waiter was very attentive and professional. I gave him five stars. I felt the food was overpriced. I had the scallops over mashed potatoes. My food was luke warm, if that, when it came out. I was not all impressed with the how the scallops were prepared. It was essentially scallops over mashed potatoes and gravy. The sauce was tasteless and bland . If anything, it took away from the flavor. For $27 I would expect to get a salad or some sort of vegatable with my meal. Nope, just scallops and mashed. I don't mind paying higher prices for a meal but I expect a certain standard. I did not get that here. My husband had the seafood combo which he thought was very good, cold, but good. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen. I would not visit again.
We had a very good experience here. We were passing through the city, stayed for the night, and found this restaurant downtown. The raw bar was extensive and fresh, the wait staff pleasant and attentive, and our food quite good. They had outside seating, but we preferred upstairs seating for people watching. Overall, our experience was great.
I was a little disappointed with a couple of things. First, we ordered the $55 tower that had 6 things on it, I believe. Two (of 6?) items were substituted withOUT us being told. Being pregnant and unable to eat many of the items, I had been looking forward to the seaweed salad and colossal lump crab. The tower came and we find that the seaweed salad was substituted by a raw tuna (unable to eat) and we simply got extra shrimp in place of the crab. Sitting there confused upon its arrival, we actually had to ask what was going on with the tower and what those items were. I truly believe (especially for $55!) that we should have been told this upfront before ordering. I'm certain we would have changed our minds and ordered something else. Also, broccolini is listed with many entrees and I was disappointed to hear that green beans were the substitute. How do you sub something all over your menu (I'm sure this wouldn't have bothered me as much had we not had the tower substitutions as well)? At least we WERE told about the green beans up front. I had been here before and perhaps will come back, but this experience will push me to try out others before coming back here.
Fantastic food and great vibe. Server was very attentive, although we felt a little rushed (clearing two plates when third person still eating is a big no no in my book). But won’t let that dominate the theme - scallops, tuna tartare and those fries were addictive...well done to the team there.
Really lovely restaurant. Party of six. Timely service - food, drinks and seating all quick. We were upstairs separate from bar area. No noise problems. All food and drink exceptional except... one weak drink (the horror) and lobster roll kinda gross, but some people might love it instead. Overall highly recommended. Good food, fun place, not crazy expensive.
The food is delicious as are the cocktails. The service was great too. We had the clam chowder, ceviche sampler and oysters along with the complimentary bread. We didn’t have room for an entree. Cocktails were also delicious. Tallory (sp) was a great server. Price was pretty reasonable as well. Wish we had a restaurant like this in lower/central bucks county.
The restaurant was not busy at all. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food it was over an hour. Twice I had to go and literally find our waitress for service. It was very disappointing. I had oysters and soup. My wife had fish and chips. It never should have taken over an hour to get our food. There are too many other places in the valley to try. Doubtful we go there again.
The dining experience was great from the food to our waiter! We were seated in the back corner behind the staircase, which at first seemed like a disadvantage, but it ended up being perfect since it was a little quieter & cozier. The scallops were perfectly done, the combination seafood plate was a nice assortment of seafood. Definitely will go back!
