39 Rue de Jean - Savannah
Best mussels I'd ever had (Mussels Provençal). Special treat for my birthday, on the house. Exceptional server. Even the house wine was good (rare). We went with friends for an early dinner before a concert. All four of us said we would come back.
This was one of my favorite restaurants in SAV but not sure what happened. Not many people in the restaurant but waiter was not very attentive. We had to ask the lady who brought out of appetizers for bread. We usually get that first. Appetizers and entrees were excellent, however desert was really bad. We had the pot de Creme which tasted as if it was in the fridge for an extended period of time...very stale topping...need some baking soda in that fridge. This was our favorite dessert, now yuck. Restaurant fell behind big time.
You can always tell a good place by how they treat your kid. I came with just my four year old daughter and our server was amazing. Lovely place, treated her just like an adult. Will return!
The service was great the food was disappointing. The order appeared have been lost and the food arrived very late. The food was of mediocre quality and not cooked as requested. Overall very disappointing and not up to the standard we would have expected from the favorable reviews found on Open Table
Fabulous service and food! Highly recommend for any occasion.
Corporate event. The reviews from the party were outstanding! They will return for pleasure.
Terrible experience. Ordered seafood tower, shrimp half frozen, miniature clams. Asked if they had olives with blue cheese for a martini. No problem, we’ll put it in our olives. Then charged $2 for the olives. Seriously?Place was empty, worked with our server to stage food delivery. Delayed entrees then ordered along with a bottle of wine — and food showed up before the wine. Scallop entree very rich and leaden. Rude bartender, bad attitude. Started out pleasant, waitress mismanaged the serving of main course. What looked like nice meal turned in to a lousy one. Guess the tip off should have been the place is in an Embassy Suites.

Food was delicious and service was good. Restaurant decor is plain and a bit stark. Staff left the front door open on a chilly night, which made it uncomfortable.
We are happy to hear you had great food and service. We are sorry the temperature was uncomfortable and have passed this on to the team. We appreciate your patronage and hope to host you again in the future. - Holy City Hospitality
The food was cold and badly prepared. I was shocked that this restaurant was so highly rated. I never post bad reviews, but I just had to. Also they were told to bring a birthday dessert as we were celebrating a birthday. They forgot, but the food was so bad that I didn't even bother to remind them.

Not what I was expecting from the previous reviews
The seafood platter for two it wasn’t special disappointed, the escargot needed more flavor and it was room temperature the butter should be very hot
Our waiter was very attentive at all times 👍the best part

Never disappoints... the black grouper on special was fabulous
Susan, Thank you for your continued patronage and for taking the time to share! I will pass the compliment onto the chefs. We hope to host you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
I took both of my granddaughters for dinner and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent. And although the poor waitress was the only one working she still managed to be attentative and did not ignore us. Food was varied from sushi to steaks. Steaks were excellent and the kids said the sushi was very good.
Desserts topped off the excellent evening . We will be bringing them back very soon.
Lulu, Thank you for sharing your great experience at Rue with your granddaughters. We love that you took the time to explore the menu and branch out! We are looking forward to hosting you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
We enjoyed our first visit so much that we had to dine here again before we flew home. Best experience. Beautiful restaurant, amazing food & exceptional service. It's an absolute MUST when in Savannah!

Food is always great and the staff is always very accommodating to the special needs of my parents.
We are thrilled to hear that your parents needs are always met when you dine with us. We hope they always receive the service deserved. Thank you for your review and patronage. We look forward to hosting you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
We had a very enjoyable dinner at 39 Rue de Jean. Food was very excelent. We shared the Plateau for 2 of shellfish for appetizers, and then the sea scallops entree and the shrimp provencal entree. All entrees were well prepared; the pasta in each dish was very light. Service was good and we were welcomed by several members of the staff. We definitely will come again.
Outstanding as always. The best mussels I've had anywhere!!
Thank you for your review. We are thrilled you love the mussels and hope you'll come back for them! - Holy City Hospitality
1-French onion soup was lacking in flavor. It was missing the beautiful golden baked top like the picture shown. Onions were not caramelized and the broth was pale in color.
2-My guest ordered the fish special and it was still cold and because of that a bit fishy tasting in areas.
3- My French style potatoes were still very firm. Needed to be cooked longer.
4- Dessert menu to me was lacking, passed on dessert which is rare.
5- over all I thought they needed to pay attention to the details a little more.
It wasn’t bad meal but didn’t blow me away. This was our last dinner of our vacation and was our least favorite meal on our time in Savannah.
It was our anniversary and they couldn't have been nicer. It was a Sunday evening, so not crowded. Our server Sadie was especially sweet. Always good food and service here!
Thank you for celebrating with us. We are thrilled to hear that you had the service deserved on your anniversary. We look forward to hosting you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
Had another great experience at 39 Rue... We enjoy the variety of menu items, as well as the great service.
Thank you for coming back! We love that you had another great experience and continue to explore the menu. We hope to host you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
Excellent food and decor. Wait service was very friendly and accommodating. While excellent I would say the food was slightly overpriced but then again so is everything else in Savannah
I had charcuterie and cow au vin. It was delicious. My husband had beef Bourguinone and loved it. Nice wine selection too. Very satisfied with service and ambience.
We visit every time we are in Savannah. The food is fantastic, the desserts incredible... Though we were disappointed they stopped making the Vacheron!
The restaurant is always delicious and you can tell the Chef takes pride in the food that’s served! I’m a fan for life!
They were lovely. We were celebrating 2 friends birthdays and the staff went out of their way to make them feel special . Food was excellent S well . Will come back!
We celebrated my birthday here and had excellent service and drinks! Had a couple of hiccups with my son's entree but things were quickly taken care of by the mgr and our server. If celebrating ask for the poet served with the special dessert, it was fantastic!
Amazing! Our new favorite spot in Savannah and Charleston!
We had heard several people make positive comments about this restaurant so we were really looking forward to the experience. The short of it is that the food was quite good but there was no wow factor according to any of the eight people in our party. The thing that bothered us all was the lack of service. The place was not completely full and yet dirty dishes were allowed to sit in front of us for up to 30 minutes. Our food was incredibly slow in arriving and staff simply did not come back by to check on us enough over the course of several hours. When I discussed this with a friend in Charleston she mentioned the exact same experience at the same restaurant there. Having said all that ;all of the staff were very friendly and they gave a free dessert which was delicious. The ambience is very nice.
We are Locals to Savannah and this is our first visit. It was to celebrate my birthday and between the staff and the chef they went above and beyond to make my evening wonderful and memorable. I have food allergies and the chef went out of his way to create a special delicious dessert for me and although my steak was actually make wrong it was still incredibly delicious. The hostess and waitress made fantastic recommendations and took very good care of us and our needs. Honestly will add this restaurant to my list of favorites and look forward to another meal. The food and ambiance was delightful. Love! Love! Love!
My husband and I had a great anniversary dinner here. It was quiet and romantic, and the food was so great we even got two desserts!
We love the Sushi and Mussels, but the entire menu is always perfect- French inspired, or a southern twist, this is a restaurant you can never tire of. Their house wines are french and well selected, and only $4 during happy hour! Service is always friendly and prompt. Love this place!!
Okay as a hotel restaurant, but overall, not really a French restaurant in feel or flavour. Wait staff seemed understaffed or preoccupied. If you're staying at the hotel and don't want to venture out, you'll have a good meal, but in Savannah where there are a hundred fascinating alternatives, it suffers in comparison.
Great happy hour prices but you need to request the happy hour menu. Our only criticism is that the mussels were quite salty which has never been the case other times we have dined there. Our husbands very much enjoyed the burgers and fries.
Service was slow and it wasn’t crowded at all. Jermaine our waiter was nice and professional. He did regular check in with us.
Not sure if the woman going from table to table was the manager . She only asked my guest if his food was ok but not me. LOL! Then she later took away our plates and our bill arrived with no offer if we wanted dessert.
Ok. Food was ok but not great.
Menu was extensive, service was very efficient and food was tasty. Wine is expensive, and even though we were in the Happy Hour period no effort was made to provide us with a list of drinks or wine available. We will go back and try it again.
We are happy that you enjoyed your experience with us. I am sorry that you were not able to experience Happy Hour, as we have some of the best deals in Savannah! Our house wine (red, white, rosé or bubbles) is $4 a glass! Happy Hour is available everyday from 5p-7p so we can't wait to see you in again to experience this amazing deal. Kind Regards, Vaughn Postema-Digital Media Manager
One of our favorite restaurants in Savannah. Consistently great food and service!!

Great food and service. Went with four out of town guest. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was somewhat bland, but the desserts were AMAZING. The waitress recommended some great wines as well. I’ll be back for dessert and drinks for sure.
