37 North - Doubletree by Hilton Burlingame Ratings and Reviews
We went for thanksgiving. On their website was a thanksgiving menu, it’s a buffet.
When we arrived they sat us down with a menu. I asked about the buffet and they said it ended at 4.
Nowhere on their website said buffet until 4. I checked twice.
Instead we were given the “special” which was turkey potato underdone veggies and stuffing all covered in lukewarm gravy that tasted like it came from the can.
I was looking forward to the delicious thanksgiving menu they had posted. Instead I felt as though I was given leftovers from a soup kitchen.
Went there for Thanksgiving Buffet event and was very disappointed. I’ve been to many other Buffets for Thanksgiving at other hotel restaurants and usually there is a wide variety of salads, dips, cooked & uncooked veggies, fruits, kid friendly foods, various soups and several carving stations as well as bottomless mimosas. At 37 North the selection was limited. There was no mimosas offered, only 1 salad, and not many side dishes that expected for Thanksgiving dinner. Sadly, there were no child friendly foods for kids. The dessert table was pretty unexciting. Hope they make some improvements for their next family Buffet event
Server was perfect food for me was very good the rib eye steak taste so good & so big had to take home half of it , ninprobkem st all for me the doubletree mixed drinks was perfect . I like thus peaceful resto not too crowded , music played were ok while having dinner
I was disappointed in the quality of food but you pay for what you get sometimes. The meats were dry, they didn't have a fruit station and their salad station was not that great neither was the selection from sweets station, the cinnamon bun was awful. This was not the ideal mother's day for me, and I chose this place for my daughter and grandson.
waiter wasn't sufficiently attentive to dietary needs (I asked if there was cream in the soup but he apparently didn't understand or ask the chef so I ordered it but couldn't eat it). also, the noise level was really loud because there was a live group. it worked out but boy it was loud.
We love Jesus who serves us usually. He is accommodating and gives us suggestions on what is good for the day. They serve Peet's coffee which is what we like to drink. The breads are assorted so we can choose. On Saturdays we like to listen to their live Jazz music. The desserts are ample so we only get one to share.
We were celebrating our 17th anniversary and thought we should give this restaurant a try. To make it even more special we decided to bring our daughters along to celebrate. Upon arriving we discovered that our reservation was not in their computer system. I showed the staff our confirmation on the OpenTable app and an e-mail that was sent to us as well. It did not matter, Edward (staff member) repeatedly told us that we were wrong and the confirmation did not matter as it was not in their computer system. Unfortunately we did not get to dine at this restaurant and was very surprised by the poor quality of customer service.
37 North is located in the Doubletee Hilton Hotel near the airport. With convenient parking, and an ample dining room, it is an easy, low-stress in and out and a good place to go as a "walk in". An adjacent bar area makes a convenient meeting place or dinner-for-one seating with sports on TV.
The menu offers wide variety, from sandwiches to steaks and salmon and salads. We started with a delicious tomato soup, poured tableside with a flourish. The soup had a nice texture, containing small bits of tomato and bits of fresh basil leaf and a garnish of cream.
For mains, one of our group enjoyed the grilled salmon accompanied by a pesto risotto. Another had a Cuban sandwich, which was described as "average". It was grilled and crunchy, but lacked a good seasoning.. Two of us very much enjoyed the ample serving short ribs with whipped potatoes and broccolini.
Delicious hot and crispy beignets with mango whipped cream or chocolate accompaniements were a delight! Our other dessert was a trio of delicious sorbet standards: mango, raspberry, coconut.
Although our waiter gave flawless service, he hovered nearby the entire time, wich felt like an invasion of privacy in the quiet dining room.
Overall, 37 North provides a range of well-prepared, local, quality ingredients skillfully prepared. There are options for every diet--paleo, vegetarian, gluten-free, traditional.
I highly recommend 37 North for a good meal when you don't feel like fighting lines and parking yet want a quality meal in pleasant surroundings.
This restaurant is a wonderful gem contained within the Doubletree Hotel. You are greeted warmly, management is on tap and the servers, especially Argie are top notch and all about customer service. Argie had some wonderful dining suggestions, and I was impressed with his knowledge of local incredients. The food is spectacular - skirt steak and eggs and the new recipe for chicken wings were both absolutely wonderful. Prices are great, so why go into congested San Francisco when you have superior service and cuisine right here in Burlingame. Job well done.
I decided to give 37 North a try for lunch with an old friend based on positive reviews. We had agreed to meet up in Burlingame. The restaurant, which opens to the hotel lobby, was bigger than I expected. Like most modern hotel restaurants I've had occasion to visit, it was attractive but somewhat lacking in character and warmth. The day I visited, it was practically empty and conducive to quiet conversation. The service was attentive without being annoying. The food was mostly good, though not special or memorable. Sadly, the beignets we ordered for dessert bore no relation to the tender, delicate morsels I had in New Orleans. Though 37 North was fine for a hotel restaurant I am unlikely to return unless I need a quiet place for a business lunch.
I've had 2 very different experiences at 37 North in the past month. The first was an enjoyable Thanksgiving Day lunch buffet. I was impressed by the quality and variety of food as well as the competent and friendly yet non-intrusive service. My family and I liked this visit so much that we decided to have Christmas Day lunch at 37 North as well. The dining room and bar/lounge were as spacious, bright and comfortably modern as before. However, the food and service were decidedly not as impressive as that on our first visit. For whatever reasons, the food was mediocre and our server seemed to lack basic service skills. We wondered what happened to a cocktail order that was forgotten...in a room that only had about 5 full tables. We tried to laugh when that drink--finally made and sitting on the bar counter--wasn't delivered to our table. We laughed harder when our server not only confirmed an order for a glass of Zinfandel but brought a glass of something obviously not a Zin. The last laugh came when my entree--billed as braised short ribs with mashed potatoes--only arrived with short ribs. (Come on! You gotta have mashed potatoes with short ribs!) Nothing was said about the mashed potatoes being MIA until I asked. The response, "Oh, we're out of them." No offer of a substitute, but I asked and got one 5 minutes later. Note to self: Thanksgiving Day buffet is grand. Christmas Day lunch is not.
Great Jazz!!! Seated immediately. Server was prompt and courteous. Cocktail was excellent. The slider appetizer was good, but the beef was definitely overdone. On the other hand, the Ribeye was out of this world! Overall, great experience, highly recommend.
This restaurant is located in the Doubletree Hotel and is a very nice place to dine after picking someone up at San Francisco airport. The dining room is large and adjoins the hotel lobby. There is often live music. It was a jazz combo the night we dined. The server, Jesus, was spot on with his service and recommendations. The dinner menu includes steak, pork loin, seafood, pastas, etc. The pork loin chop was exceptional. Also, the hand-crafted cocktails are great and there is a nice wine list. There is free or validated parking in the hotel lot.
