our server/manager was friendly, efficient, and provided a great experience!
It was very good service and the waiter was very polite. It was an overall great experience and it was a great Valentine’s Day dinner. We will be coming back very soon.
Good food. And not really expensive. But it’s expensive
It would be nice if the menu had vegetarian and vegan options.
The staff didn't come back to the table. Food took 80min to come to the table. The did not have a host helping people. People were getting up and leaving
A very busy night with only a couple of waitresses. Slowwww service. To top it off, the food was poor. One dish was cold and had to be sent back. One dish was bland and pastey. Two others, the chicken was so over cooked that it was crumbly.
On a positive note, the waitress was very friendly, even though they were short staffed.
The night view of the city was spectacular.
Superb wait staff - very attentive and friendly. Here for our wedding anniversary. Both had 12 oz ribeye - cooked and seasoned great. Green beans a little too el denta - also odd - no bread with dinner. Enjoyed free cheesecake for desert. Beer moderately priced - shot of Grand Mariner was$10.50. Great view of the city - not rushed on a Saturday night.
When the hostess showed us to our reserved table, we asked if instead we could be seated by the window, since there were a number of unoccupied tables there. She said no, those were reserved, and she was a bit snippy about it. Nearly two hours later when we left, those tables were still unoccupied.
The food was quite good -- we ordered a number of small plates and sides to share. However, the prices were unreasonably high when compared to the level of service. Besides the discourteous hostess, our waitress was completely untrained and inexperienced. She was quite pleasant and tried to be helpful, but she knew little of the restaurant's offerings and seemed to have never worked in such a setting. She didn't know that a wine list existed. And when we ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, we had to show her how to open it.
I would consider returning to 350 First only if they hired professional, competent staff and/or lowered their prices substantially.
Had to get up from my table twice to request a server. Took 15-20 minutes to get a server. The pot of coffee had coffee that was cold. Requested hot coffee...took another 15 minutes to get it. Meanwhile the table next to us were served coffee/water/juice. Extremely poor service; will not be going here ever again
My food was barley warm, risotto was undercooked, brocolini was not seasoned and flavorless. Our waitress struggled to manage her few tables. I view was pretty and the resturant was nice, but very expensive for not great food.
Our table server was excellent. I requested a wine by the bottle menu and it took the manager over 20 minutes to print one off for us - that was a lot of time to wait when we had somewhere else to go after dinner and I had noted that on our reservation. Our table server did an excellent job of checking on us while we waited and apologized for the delay. The amount of time and the fact that the manager did not deliver the wine menu or apologize for the extended wait in person is not a good business practice.
Not fast but that is what I expect from a nice restaurant. If I want fast food I'd go to Tx Roadhouse. One steak was under cooked. I don't mind that at Tx Roadhouse, I just order it one level more cooked than what I really want so if they make a mistake I end up with it just the way I want it. At a nicer restaurant I should get what I want and done right the first time. The attentiveness of the server wasn't the greatest. They were helpful but they did spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
Our server wasn’t very interested in taking care of my wife and I celebrating our 10 year anniversary. We had been seated for 10 mins before our server came over and took our drink order.
One of the best restaurants in Cedar Rapids. Very romantic setting and versatile at the same time.
Christmas Dinner
Table wasn’t ready when we arrived. Service was very slow. Weren’t told there was a limited menu when reservation made or when it was confirmed. Food was just okay.
Not busy yet very slow service. Was given poor excuses for why it took so long to get drinks. Was told the bartender was busy on the computer!!!! Reserved a table for 4 by the window yet you have no tables for 4 by the window! Took a booth seat looking at General Mills. How fabulous! We got to look at a large white building.
Yes I would. Would have been better if we could have a table setup by the window to see more of CR.
They went out of their way to make our birthday celebration even more special!
My husband and both thought the food was way over-salted. He got the scallops and said they were so salty it felt like they were burning his mouth. I tried a bite and they tasted like they were brined in salt water and then coated with more salt. Wowzer. His risotto was also quite salty.
I got the corn fettuccine and that was also really salty. The flavor was nice on everything, but the saltiness was so overpowering that it kind of wrecked it. We eat out a lot and try to experience a wide range of dining and we like salt, but were surprised at how every element of our main dish was dramatically over-salted.
We also thought it was over-priced. The flourless cake was $15 for a very small slice. The crab and artichoke dip I think was $14 for the smallest portion I have ever seen for that kind of appetizer. The serving size for the entrees was pretty good (I could only eat about half of my pasta dish, partly because of the salt, but there was also lot of food).
The view is nice, but the expense just doesn't seem worth it esp. when the food is almost getting to the point of being inedible because of the salt. We were kind of disappointed because we were visiting from out of town and this was our date night. The food has potential, but we probably wouldn't recommend it.
Everything was amazing and top notch!
The food was out of this world!
I mentioned in my reservation that it is our first anniversary BECAUSE I was expecting that they at least remember and will have special table for me and my wife !!! they just put us in the first closest table available !!!
They overall have 4 appetizer and one that we chose not available after 10 min we have been notified !!! after they took our order.
The whole point OF reservation and the note and special request was nothing
The view was beautiful and a fun experience. However the food was priced on a higher end which I do not mind if the food is phanominal but in this case is was not. I had the blackened Salmon. My rice was over cooked and watery. The zucchini and squash were very mushy. And the Salmon was ok ,very bland, until I got to the middle. Apparently all the seasoning had settled in the middle of the pan. I had a hard time swallowing it because it was so salty. Even the plating was not that attractive.
My husband ordered the steak. It came out cook to the right temperature. He had the same complaint about the veggies. There was a barbecue style sauce that smothered the top of it. He said after he scraped the sauce off it was ok. He had the same complaint about the veggies.
Very nice place to hold casual business meetings. Bar area was clean, and service was great.
We used to love eating there, steak was not done had to take back and came out with different sides. Took very long time to get any food, and my husband was done eating by the time they cooked my filet. Felt like potato's had instant mixed in, no seasoning on green beans. Bread was minimal, Desert was good. Will be finding a new place. It's a shame as we used to love going here.
Excellent dinner with two friends before we attended play. The food and service were excellent, the atmosphere is very nice and even though they were busy with several large groups, the noise level was low and we could easily chat during dinner
The Korean ribs were dry, it seemed like BBQ sauce was thrown on top of the meat. The shaved brussel sprouts were completely burnt, none of the side dish was edible. The "old fashioned" alcoholic beverage was not mixed and/or poured correctly. The waitress approached our table with a water pitcher in one hand and scratching her nose with her other hand. I didn't feel like that was acceptable sanitary restaurant etiquette.
For all the hotel restaurant haters, this is an exception. I had the eggplant/mozzarella appetizer- excellent - plenty to share. Entree was scallops and they were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Dessert was blueberry coffee cake - just sweet enough for dessert w/o being too much. Wine list is very limited, I only received a by the glass list - perhaps they have another list? Expertly prepared signature bourbon pre dinner cocktail. My only less than glowing comment is the lack of a tablecloth - something about eating off a bare tabletop - it’s a me thing I’m sure. Also, I’m not from Cedar Rapids and I didn’t see any water so the view was not spectacular for me.
I scheduled this sight unseen for a work meeting. Everyone had positive comments about the food. I ordered scallops, which I generally avoid in the Midwest, but they were cooked to perfection.
I was a guest at the hotel and just wanted coffee and dessert. The waitress was super nice and friendly she said it would take about 5 minutes for the coffee to brew. It was fresh and very good. We shared 2 desserts, blueberry coffee cake which looked like a big donut but was a dense lemon cake with fresh blueberries and strawberries, this one was my favorite. We also had a fresh baked warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top and Sundae “ toppings” it also was very good. The view is nice just not much to see. If I go back would love to try dinner.
I felt it was pricey for what you got. It was a basic continental breakfast with an omelet of your choice. Cappuccino tasted terrible.
They did not honor the reservation, then sat us in the back and pulled the shades so we had no view of the city. They were not busy and I still had to ask our waitress for a drink. The food was mediocre at best. Cool concept, just fell flat on delivery!!
Great food , great service, good view of cedar rapids skyline.
We had an excellent dinner. Appetizer to desert and we enjoyed it all. Our server did a great job too.
Placed near the bar, which had serval very obnoxious and loud patrons. It should have been better regulated.
Excellent service; Great food; Great views. Will be returning soon.
Our wedding anniversary. Excellent night out. Valet was free except tip...drink service prompt...wait staff helpful and friendly...special anniversary dessert. Will do it again
Date night with my wife and As always the food and service was amazing we will be back for sure!!
Surprisingly good (seafood) dinner; only ones there for most of our time (few at bar). Server pleasant but not very attentive and asks about dessert before we even done with entre. Was our anniversary dinner and we found it good, not great. Would we go back; sure.
Wonderful view from the top of the Doubletree. The food is consistently good. The wait staff is very professional.
