317 at Montgomery Street
Lovely restaurant. Our waiter was welcoming and affable in spite of a lack of support from the kitchen.
The bottom line is the food was great and the kitchen was unprepared for the graduation dinner push.
I waited well past the normal amount of time for someone to greet us.
When it came to ordering one app was eliminated due to what was described as a quality problem (all good)
When drinks came another app was sold out and then a few minutes later another was sold out.
When one of our guests noted her vegetarianism, first she was told the Chef would create something, then she was told the Chef would not do it. She was offered a salad and for the app to be removed from the bill.
A) That's amateur hour
B) It was clear they didn't want to accommodate my guest
C) Openly discussing a discount at the table is not the appropriate protocol.
In conclusion, the food was wonderful. Very satisfying. The staff is good and the kitchen needs to be better prepared and accommodating.
Last Friday. 8:30 reservation. First food at 9:55. No bread, no Pinot Noir, no Pelligrino or any sparkling water, promised vegan and gluten free dinner, but ran out of salad and served the same broccoli for a;; 3 courses. Ran out of tenderloin appetizer too. $85 pp price fix paid in advance. Just not ready for prime time.
Stopped in for lunch, good food but expensive for a burger and $18.00 salad
We were the only guests in the restaurant. The menu we were given had over half the items scratched out in pen and unavailable. Supplementary items that had been added given to us in hand written torn back of another
Very limited menu that we could actually eat. Warm spinach salad drenched and soggy.
Sea bass was quite good. No availability of rose or Sauvignon blanc.
It was absolutely incredible.
Delicious food and lovely ambience. Beer and wine only.
Looking for a nice dinner for a birthday, anniversary, or maybe just a nice meal? Then look no further. 317 @ Montgomery has everything you need in the flavor department, as well as a great selection of wines.
Really delicious food
Great meal from start to finish. Our server was new yet his shortfalls were not due to a lack of effort. The beef short rib was delicious.
Good was great, very well prepared and tasty. Portion sizes were very good. Did not leave feeling hungry, but did not overeat
The meal was outstanding. And the service, bar and table, was done by one person. She rocked it!
Two of us had the pork loin, which was fantastic! Perfect temperature, and very tender. The pork belly and spinach polenta appetizer was also very very good. And I did not hear any complaints about the lamb chops or the braised short ribs. Overall and exceptional dinner for a group of six.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, attentive and friendly service.
Item I had, pork tenderloin with beans was mediocre at best. Salad was fine and the chocolate tort was very good.
Beautiful place. Food was very good. Interesting, nicely presented, very tasty. My first time there and I would go again. Great music and not too loud!
Went there for dining week. Fantastic meal! Everyone was happy with their choices. Polenta cake was delicious. Orzo dish is so well done - shrimp cooked perfectly, great nutty flavor to the dish. Chocolate torte was delicious. One of the best meals we've had in a while. Credit to the restaurant for serving decent sized portions (some places shrink their portions for dining week). We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!
I had to give fair as overall because they were out of 3 of 5 entrees and then out of the only desert we wanted. It was restaurant week so we were ordering off a limited menu. We were very disappointed The food we had was good and we will go back again to see what we missed. Super staff.
What a find, one of the best dining places I have been too. Great value for money, excellent and very friendly service, good parking on the street outside even though it was a Saturday evening. Would recommend this to all and next time we are in Syracuse we will go no further than this establishment.
Always a great meal at 317. Portion size was just right and service was excellent
The food was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were rather small for the price but the flavors almost made up for that. Great ambiance and staff was wonderful albeit very soft spoken.
We drove an hour to eat here for the second time. Our anniversary was never acknowledged although it was mentioned when making reservations. Food could have had more flavor and service was efficient but not any better than anywhere else. Waitress stated that the chef recommended the lambchops be medium rare. My wife said that she would like it closer to the rare side. Came out medium well. I was finished with my meal and we asked for hers to go. Very disappointed this time.
Delicious food, attentive service, great atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in Syracuse!
Dinner was overpriced for the price. Nice interior that's decorated with art and well-stained wood. Lighting leaves something more to be desired. Might come again for the lunch menu as dinner was severely underwhelming
Everything was great! Our server (I believe her name was Jamie) was fantastic!
Great food, great service. Highly recommended
The appetizers were excellent. The room was lovely. Unfortunately the entree was less than stellar. We had the Berkshire Pork Tenderloin. It was overcooked and overspiced. It tasted like too much liquid Rosemary was used. Again because the appetizers, all three, were excellent, we will be back.
We ate there New Year's Eve 2018 and loved it. The food was absolutely wonderful. We returned this past weekend and were disappointed. The staff was super courteous, friendly, gracious, but obviously overworked. There were only 2 people on and they were rushing around like mad to accommodate a theater crowd that was there before us. The food was inconsistent. The duck I ordered was delicious but the cauliflower popcorn was burnt. The sauteed spinach appetizer was too oily and the orzo pasta and shrimp my husband had was ok. Perhaps the chefs were different than the ones from New Year's Eve or they were just tired. Physically I find the restaurant appealing. But the seats near the windows were frigid. Something should definitely be done about insulating that area in the winter. We do live in CNY so cold weather is not a surprise. Overall, we will try it again to see which experience wins: excellent or mediocre. Because anybody and any place can have an off night.
Wonderful. I grabbed the last halibut special and was not disappointed. My friend had the short ribs, which I have had in the past, she loved them. Service and atmosphere were outstanding as usual.
Excellent ambiance, food and service made our Saturday evening very pleasant!
Excellent food. Appealing presentation. Paced well.
We had a reservation for five and we were seated in the front by the window which was perfect! Warm ambience and festive for the holidays. The polenta was delicious as was the spinach which we had as appetizers. For dinner, the salmon was superb and the shrimp orzo with sweet potato and artichoke was absolutely delicious. The chef was also nice enough to adapt the shrimp to a gluten free entree. Service was perfectly spaced and water kept filled.
Excellent food, ambiance and service! Would highly recommend
I'm hestitant to give 317 an outstanding review because I don't want to share this little gem of a place with the general public. I have never had a bad meal here, they need to do whatever they can to keep the Chef! When they put Foi Gras on the menu...it's Foi, not a pate. Beef short ribs were melt in your mouth delicious. I was more excited about having dinner here than seeing The Messiah at Cathedral...ssshh, don't tell my significant other! I look forward to returning with my restaurant snob brother from Boston...he will be impressed! Keep up the good work!
We very much enjoyed our dinner at 317 at Montgomery. Our dinner was beyond delicious and included beef short ribs and filet mignon that we’re both very tender and served with wonderful sides that complimented each dish. The flourless chocolate torte melted in my mouth and my husband said his carrot cake was excellent (and he is a carrot cake aficionado!). We each received our own French coffee press pot of coffee to accompany our desserts. Service was also excellent and our waitress was friendly and attentive even though she was quite busy. We will definitely return!
This restaurant was perfect! The food was superb in every way. The service and ambiance were wonderful. This is a must go to when in Syracuse.
My wife and I had a great time with great food, great service, and a wonderful vibe. Such an amazing place to go.
No people to watch at 12:45 PM for lunch
Great meal. Had a business dinner on a random Tuesday during a snow storm, so the restaurant was empty, on other table. With this in mind, the service was excellent. More importantly so was the food. Like the decor. All in all an excellent dinner. Will be back.
317 at Montgomery St. restaurant helped me out in a spot! My husband and I had our parents meet for the first time. This restaurant was a perfect setting for such a meeting. The restaurant is small- to medium-sized. It is broken up by walls, and you can sit on repurposed church benches; the interior design created an intimate, romantic ambiance. As a previous reviewer said, 317 at Montgomery St. is a replica of basement/first floor hole-in-the-wall restaurants you find all over New York City. The cool thing is, the quality of your meal at 317 will rival a NYC one. We were all impressed with our meals.
Food was excellent !
It’s a lovely space-wide variety of menu items on the entrée side.
they only serve beer and wine.
A little bit off the beaten path-
Would absolutely go back the lamb chops or excellent the shrimp with toasted orzo was spectacular and the pork belly was wonderful and nicely sized.
