We were disappointed because one of the attractions for this to be our Dining Week pick was the cauliflower and mushroom Bolognese. It was not up to par Sat evening, so we were asked to change our order. Both the chicken and pork were good. Just not our first choice.
We were in the area by the windows, which was very nice for conversation, but it was cold. Otherwise, we had a great evening.
We had a delicious meal.. we love the space, architecture and the feel of the place. My only suggestion would be to get in an Italian Pino Grigio. Due to the Roundup situation some patrons would rather not drink CA wines. We will definitely return and spread the word as well !! Welcome 317 Montgomery!!
Food was exquisite, we will certainly be back!
Visit was during dining week so menu was limited however very good. Not our first visit and not our last.
Great great great
I went for a romantic Valentine’s Day date and was disappointed. Service was awful. Severely understaffed. Waiter asked our order three separate times and still never delivered my appetizer. Steak came out severely undercooked and had to be returned. The food was alright when it was delivered but it took far too long and with too many complications.
This restaurant was amazing. I brought my girlfriend here for dinner and the service was amazing. Will come back here again.
We had an amazing girls’ night there. The food and service were excellent. Wine recommendations were on point! Looking forward to enjoying another meal there soon.
Very good food. Great staff. Under new ownership and the new owner is doing great changes with the menu and ambiance.
The pork bao starters were delicious and the filet was cooked rare like I requested. Natalie took care of us. Highly recommended!
This is our favorite restaurant in Syracuse and we are regular customers. Several months ago they changed cooks. Initially the new cook seemed pretty comparable, but as we have continued to return, it seems the quality is no longer there. The special for the evening was strip steak and lobster tail priced $50+. The lobster was overdone and tough. The steak was very thin, and overdone; medium rare had no pink at all in the middle. It is no wonder it was overdone as it was such a thin cut. At home we prefer strip steak from Costco which is nearly 2 inches thick and manage to prepare it perfectly medium rare. For the money, I would expect an exceptional steak, at least as good as at home, and very tender lobster, and please, drawn butter on the side, not small amount spread on the plate. The sides were good, the duck poutine as an hors d'oeuvre was delicious. The menu items are interesting and tasty, and changed several times a year so it is not boring--one of our favorite things about this restaurant as well as the ambiance (thank goodness no obnoxious TV screens all over the place) and relaxing jazz music lowered for conversation, and service is attentive--these are all great! Please work on the cooking! One should look forward to eating out to eat better than at home.
A good bet for a very tasty dinner. We had the stuffed chicken breast and broiled salmon. The chicken was done to perfection and the stuffing brought a great tangy burst of flavor. The salmon was also excellent. The ambiance is quiet and elegant. The service was prompt and courteous. This place has limited seating so I suggest a reservation. You won't be disappointed.
This is a great spot, the food was excellent. The restaurant has a very warm and friendly feeling. Our server was very friendly and prompt
We had an early reservation for dinner before a concert, so only a few tables were occupied when we arrived. We were seated quickly near a window, but asked to move as my husband was cold. The waitress was gracious and moved us over one table further from the window. Wine list by the glass was not extensive, but we found options we enjoyed. My husband had the arancini appetizer. It was big enough to share. I had the seasonal salad which was fine. Both of us had the pork chop dinner. Meat was cooked well and the sauce was delicious. Accompanied by mashed sweet potatoes and very tasty Brussels sprouts roasted with mushrooms. Finished with French press coffee. A very nice meal, attentive service.
Never have had a bad meal there! Unique little place with outstanding food.
We enjoyed our experience at 317 very much. The menu was somewhat limited but we were able o find meals that we could eat and they turned out to be delicious. Our wait staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Lovely gem of a restaurant in Syracuse. We were visiting for Syracuse University Family weekend and were fortunate to get a reservation. The menu was small, but contained something for everyone. And a small menu is a good indicator of high quality, since it means the chef is focussed on doing a few things very well. The food was beautifully presented, flavorful and delicious. Portions were ample. And the ambience was perfect... not too many tables jammed in close next to each other, so there was no noise problem! We could actually have a conversation! Well done and will definitely come back.
I was disappointed that many items on the menu were not available. My dinner was not hot. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant and no bartender. The food did taste good.
Service was quite attentive, but food was only so-so and overpriced. This place used to be great, but we were disappointed with our latest visit.
What a gem!!! The staff was amazing, allowing our party of 6 to have a terrific meal catching up and enjoying the delicious food and wine. Would return in a heartbeat when in Syracuse again.....a hidden treasure!!!
Great food and great service! Definitely coming back
This is the fifth time I've dined at 317 Montgomery Street and each time, whether lunch or dinner, the food, service and general ambiance have all been excellent. I would rate it as one of the best small restaurants in the region.
Great menu...wonderful interesting flavors. The lobster Mac and cheese was so different and full of flavor.
Excellent experience- we will surely return!
The waitress was very on point with giving water when it was low. She went above and beyond!
The place felt very tired. Menu, how the food was prepared, the flavors, the service. Like the place would close in the very near future.
This was our second time eating here and everything was delicious! The service was great! Definitely would recommend this restaurant!
Last night before I leave from dropping my daughter off at college, freshman year. What a fabulously creative menu—a fusion of Asian, Italian, which adds up to New American fare. The tin ceiling and eclectic yet not modern art added to the special ambience.
We dropped in with a party of 10 and they were so accommodating! Food was very good and service was super nice. Very nice pastas! Elegant setting.
This is a really nice place somewhat off the beaten restaurant path downtown. Pretty empty for a Friday night . An eclectic menu, and the food was excellent. Our server ( who was filling in ) took great care of us. We will definitely go back next time we are in town. Highly recommended.
Food was amazing and service was impeccable. Overall great experience and would highly recommend.
Nice place - it was a Thursday and pretty low key. Food came out fast, maybe too fast would be only complaint. Pricey, but solid menu and well prepared. They update their menu seasonally, will definitely go back. The street the restaurant on is really cool too, feels a bit like you stepped outside of downtown Syracuse.
We had a private party for 15 on a Friday night. The food was outstanding and the service top notch. We even stayed past closing and they never once hurried us along. I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
Chef and sous chef knock it out of the park. Aaron, our waiter is courteous and attentive.
If you go, they only serve beer and wine, as they are located right across the street from a church (some crazy NYS law!). but like our waitress said...the food more than made up for it!
Our meal and service was excellent! The Shrimp Primavera was so full of flavor! The restaurant was quiet and only 2 other diners were there, but we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Aaron our server was attentive and gracious. We will definitely be back!!
What a terrific little find on a tree-lined street (Montgomery) in downtown Syracuse. Beautiful decor, Great service. Delicious food from start to finish. Totally charming and delightful. Can't wait to return. We were celebrating our friends' wedding anniversary and our relatively new server -- Aaron -- took great care of us with a cozy table for four in the front window. Wish they had a full bar instead of only wine and beer, as this would be the ideal spot to come and relax for a lazy brunch on weekends with a carafe of mimosas. Recently there have been quite a few great additions to Syracuse's downtown restaurant scene, and while 317 is not brand new, it's should definitely be part of the exciting mix of where foodies young and older can enjoy a terrific lunch or dinner.
Food was excellent price was a bit more than we would have liked. Service was phenomenal
Lovely restaurant. Our waiter was welcoming and affable in spite of a lack of support from the kitchen.
The bottom line is the food was great and the kitchen was unprepared for the graduation dinner push.
I waited well past the normal amount of time for someone to greet us.
When it came to ordering one app was eliminated due to what was described as a quality problem (all good)
When drinks came another app was sold out and then a few minutes later another was sold out.
When one of our guests noted her vegetarianism, first she was told the Chef would create something, then she was told the Chef would not do it. She was offered a salad and for the app to be removed from the bill.
A) That's amateur hour
B) It was clear they didn't want to accommodate my guest
C) Openly discussing a discount at the table is not the appropriate protocol.
In conclusion, the food was wonderful. Very satisfying. The staff is good and the kitchen needs to be better prepared and accommodating.
Last Friday. 8:30 reservation. First food at 9:55. No bread, no Pinot Noir, no Pelligrino or any sparkling water, promised vegan and gluten free dinner, but ran out of salad and served the same broccoli for a;; 3 courses. Ran out of tenderloin appetizer too. $85 pp price fix paid in advance. Just not ready for prime time.
