312 Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Ate here before attending a play next door at the Cadillac Theatre. Seated promptly in upper level which had expansive windows overlooking Thompson Center. The menu was extensive and fairly priced. Service attentive but not obtrusive. Brussels sprout appetizer delicious and easily feeds two. Short rib with polenta very tasty but sized for one. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich. No room for dessert but they looked delicious. Noise level loud so not the place for intimate conversations, at least at lunch hour.
Nice brunch selections! We had friends outing to see "Beautiful" next door at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Food was excellent as were the cocktails. Our server, Luis, was an absolute gem. We loved him. Make an RSVP for a Sunday pre-theatre brunch or lunch. It was packed by noon that day for a 2pm show.
We had reservations at 6:30. The service was fair, our waitress came once for our orders and we did not see her again until the bill came. We did tell her we had the play at 8:00 so our order was timely. However, our lasagna (regular menu item) was cold and lukewarm for others. Very different sizes and sauce portions. The other menu items were great according to review! We did not have time or staff available to send back for warm up!
For the portion, the childlike for some, others were adequate with the lasagna. Other items were fine!
The wine choices were good!
The idea of having everything right there was great but certainly disappointing. The food was nothing outstanding!
We had breakfast the next morning. Again, nothing outstanding but options were good! The food just seems to lack a lot of big flavor!
As far as recommending, I would only for convenience. If the food could gain some pizazz, even have some plain ole spaghetti served HOT with FRESH cheese would be great! We had the ole standard shake on and not even red pepper flakes! We couldn't ask for it because no one came back or was around after it was sat down by the kitchen staff!
Just my take, actually I am pretty easy to please but I thought 312 would be an upgrade in food and wine from the chains, not just price!!
First time ive ever had a "not great" meal at 312, but it was really my fault since the chicken breast plate was loaded with creams and other things that I wasn't anticipating. I should have asked the server to direct me to something light given it was lunch. 312 always a great meal, good service, nice experience. Just need to order smarter.
As always, the service at 312 was wonderful. The grilled octopus was very tender and taste. The Tuna in my seafood soup was a little on the over done side, but the lobster, shrimp, muscles, and scallops more than made up for it. Great place to visit before or after a show to the theatre.
We had been to this restaurant some years ago and had been disappointed, but decided to give it another try. We went to the show next door at the Cadillac Palace, so it's super convenient. The staff is great, very gracious and we got a table in a quiet area as requested. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had a pasta dish (Bolognese) that was delectable. We will definitely return.
Overall, the food was very good. However, the pappardelle was basic. It was nothing special. But other than that everything was delicious.
The wine pairing is half glasses, so that was disappointing. I wish the focus was more on customer experience rather than the money.
Because reviewers rated 312 high and it is next to the Cadillac Palace Theater, we went there before a play. Our meal was excellent, and the pasta dish In a black truffle cream sauce that I ordered was perhaps the best I have ever eaten. And it hit the spot on a frigid night in December.
We gathered for a get-together with family , pre-Christmas. Staff was very accommodating and the food was excellent, although portions are a little less than the males would have liked. However, it was a sufficient portion. We went to the bar area which was difficult to find and when told others to meet us there, they were unable to find it. Would have been helpful if the host would have told them to actually exit the upstairs restaurant area. Overall, though, we will visit again.
We visited before seeing Beautiful at the theater and this restaurant did not disappoint. I made this reservation based on reviews for pre-post theater restaurant and did not study the menu prior to dinner as I usually do. So, because there were so many choices and so little time, we relied on our waiter, Marco, who did not hesitate to steer us toward what he thought we would enjoy. My absolute favorite moment was ordering my salmon cooked at medium, but according to Marco describing it as medium well which he took the liberty of ordering. It was absolute perfection accompanied with quinoa and grapes. Who would have thought? My appetizer of buffala, which is a type of grilled prosciutto was also great. My husband ordered the pork tenderloins and cleaned his plate! My final course of raspberry sorbet ended on a perfect note. I will definitely visit this restaurant on a future visit to Chicago and bring back friends.
