312 Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Food was good. Everyone seemed pleased with selections. A bit pricey for apps and salads for the portion. Only saw our server 3 times!! Once at ordering, then we didn't see her again until we were more than half way through our entrees. She never delivered food or refill drinks. Her check back on whether things were prepared well was not timely at all had their been issues. Then our last sighting of her was whiten she presented the bill. We certainly hope the support staff & bussers are well compensated as they were seen far more than our actual server. That was disappointing. Atmosphere was nice and reservation was timely once we arrived.
I food was mediocre. The décor needs an update. Very disappointing. I expected more based on the reviews and star ratings checked prior to reservation. It was a last minute choice on a Friday evening so, based on my experience, I know why we had no problem getting confirmed.
Went here for wife's birthday before seeing "Beautiful" at the Cadillac Palace Theater. The location is literally steps away from the Theater. The food was very good. We both chose the 3 course price fix menu. My wife loved the beet salad, the salmon and the pumpkin cheesecake. I had salad, gnocchi and gelato. Price was $42/ pp. We added the wine pairing for $22 / pp. Highly recommend if you are heading to the Theater. Definitely an Italian restaurant.
We have eaten here before, and it's always a good choice before a theater date. The staff is very attentive (but not overly so), and the food was excellent. They split our shared salads without our asking, and they were very good about offering coffee refills. A wonderful spot-- we will return!
We ate here before seeing Beautiful at the Cadillac Palace Theater. Perfect location for a cold night - around the corner! Food was good and I would go back to try other things that caught my eye on the menu. The server tried to rush us. I get that he wanted to turn the table, but he knew we were leaving before the show. Food came out within minutes of ordering. We had no desire to stand in the theater lobby rather than sit and enjoy our meal. The only real complaint is that it is really noisy. Very hard to have a conversation.
We were disappointed in the quality of the food based on the pricing. The quality was not worth the price. My peach dessert was mostly a thick pastry puff with little filling.
The waiter was nice, and the busboys were attentive with water. It was a bit too loud to be able to talk to each other at our table.
312 is an an excellent choice for pre or post theater dining. We have established a Christmas tradition of an afternoon performance of A Christmas Carol at the Goodman theater followed by a review of the Macy's Christmas windows and then dinner at 312. The food, service, and ambience are all first rate and we recommend this restaurant without reservations.
Went to 312 Chicago for dinner before attending White Christmas at the Cadillac Palace. Third time I have been there before going to the theater. Food is always delicious and the wait staff is very attentive to getting your dinner served in time to make the show. Highly recommend it for a special occasion.
This is a sophisticated city restaurant and the 3rd time we have dined there. I was a little dismayed that we were early for our reservation and there was available seating on the main floor, but we had to be seated upstairs. This would have been fine except, while all booths seemed to be available, we were seated in one next to a wall, rather than one with a city view. Did we not look worthy? Anyway, I felt insulted.
The 312 restaurant remains a favorite when we visit Chicago. The Italian inspired menu offers a wide range of very flavorful and inventive dishes. The only drawback has to do with the noise level when the dining room is full. Intimate conversation is just about impossible. On the other hand the food and the service are outstanding.
312 is a great place to have a meal! It’s close enough for us to be able to walk to the restaurant, and we’ve never had trouble getting a reservation. Best of all, because of its proximity to a hotelin the theater district, it’s not closed on nights that other restaurants are closed. We’ve enjoyed lunch, brunch, and dinner there and never had a disappointing experience. The tasting menu is a good bargain, and portions are ample enough for us to share.
Was there for a birthday date, and everything was very well laid out (from seating to my personal requests). Went on a very packed Saturday night, but service was attentive nonetheless. Great for special occasions, or for theatre goers. (Next to cadillac, and close to oriental + more).
Excellent spot to grab dinner before a theater show. Our entrees were fresh, flavorful & creatively presented. The butternut squash tortelloni was amazing! Others in our party enjoyed the lasagna. Really liked the wine list selections. Service by Marco and his team was spot on. He even put our appetizer (which was normally 3 pieces) in for 4 pieces so each of us could enjoy. Very thoughtful service.
We came in before our theatre night and could not have been more pleased. The food was delicious and we all ordered different dishes to taste test! Every dish was superb!
Our waitress was so efficient and professional as she worked to make sure we were delighted and full before the show.
Truly a great experience and so pleasant!!!
Our party was two senior couples and an adult son on Thanksgiving Eve. The restaurant was busy and service was attentive but a bit rushed. The food was excellent- I had a delicious beet salad, followed by gnocchi and a chocolate torte. My wife had lasagna and tiramisu, but wished she had joined one of the others in ordering cannoli- definitely worth leaving the gun for.
Being an older group, we prefer upstairs, away from the downstairs bar which does tend to get a bit noisy. Nice atmosphere and a wonderful location for shoppers and theater-goers Recommended- we have been here a number of times and never been disappointed.
My son and I decided to eat at 312 before our matinee theatre show. Overall service was good and the food was good. Our server accommodated my request to leave out a couple of ingredients which I appreciated. My son ordered the lasagna and to me it looked like it was dried out and heated a few too many times, as the edges seemed too crisp. He didn't want to complain at the time, but it did not look too appetizing to me. Plus the portion size was small.
Right next door to Cadillac Palace Theater. Had dinner pre-show on a Tuesday at 5 pm. We arrived late as traffic was much heavier than usual. Service was awesome. Menu has a small selection but a good variety to please everyone. Food was excellent. The brussel sprouts were so good we ordered them twice. Ambiance is relaxing. Loved their serving dishes. We will gladly return here!
