About 31 Club
Seated at the corner of South Elmwood and North Johnson Park, the 31 Club is one of Buffalo's finest restaurants located right in the downtown area. From the swanky bar, to the spacious dining and private banquet rooms, a classic name made famous in the 1940s returns to its original, rightful home with a fresh, fashionable face. With a historic background that pre-dates the 1900's 31 Club was the first mayor of Buffalo's home, Ebenezer Johnson served as mayor from May 1832 - March 1833 and then again from 1834 - 1835. His home was known as Johnson Cottage and was a well known place for socializing. Today 31 Club carries on the tradition as a hot spot for who's who in the city and is one of the best places to eat, drink and be seen.

31 Club Ratings and Reviews
We ended up sitting at the bar to eat because we arrived earlier than our reservation and even though our high top table was ready, we were told that we wouldn't be able to get service until our reservation time. The bartender, Mike, was very nice. We ordered 4 appetizers and they were all delicious! We had a gift card and unfortunately couldn't use it for the tip, which seemed odd to me.
Brought my mom to celebrate her 82nd birthday. Lovely, classy ambiance. Started with drink in bar and they did not rush us to seating. Initial glitch with food - had special chef from Tuscany that night and regular menu was not available. But this was not on website and we had not been informed. Special menu, while certainly appealing to many, was not for us. Fortunately, we were accommodated and ordered from the regular menu. Absolutely wonderful. Onion soup, banana peppers, salmon. All hot and fresh. Crusty bread with olive oil was excellent as well. Lovely place. Great service and exceptional food. Definitely will dine there again.
Enjoyed the bar before dinner and the food at dinner. Great service and comfortable surroundings. Our only negative was we sat by a window on a very cold night and it was a bit chilly there. It was busy so we couldn’t move to another table. No blame on the restaurant.
If you are looking for solid quality food at a nice price point in a very nice, quiet supper club atmosphere, then the 31 Club would be an excellent choice. A good selection of well-prepared food, nice wine list and efficient, friendly staff makes the dining experience a real job. Highly recommended.
Seated in main dining area and the cold air draft everytime aomeone came in made the dining experience a distraction . The lights kept flixkering. When I asked about it, the waiter acknowledged that they have beem having problems with the lighting. If you know you have a problem and you are nit addressing it; then that tends to make one think there are other issues. You could hear other tables all talking about the same issues. Management and ownership needs to step it up
My granddaughter and I started with stuffed artichokes and clams casino, which were both excellent. We then had Rack of lamb... which was perfectly cooked and delicious. We substituted a different potato as well as only asparagus instead of a vegetable medley. Our server was attentive and courses were delivered in a timely fashion since we were going to. We took the complimentary “party bus”, along with four others to the theater and the driver was waiting at the back entrance when the play ended. It was a bitter cold night so this perk was greatly appreciated! The 31 Club never disappoints.
Always solid. Rarely disappointed at 31 Club. There is a nice spectrum of food options and adequate wine list to ensure that everyone in your group will find something they like. One note to consider though is that private parties can sometimes slam kitchen and detract from the usual quality preparation.
The service was great and the interior is lovely. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and I wasn't really a fan. Tasted burnt and flat. I ordered the Chicken Milanese which was very good for my entree. My boyfriend ordered the carbonara. His was very dry, and lacked flavor and texture of a good carbonara. Overall, maybe we just made some bad choices. Id give it another try.
It's a Christmas holiday tradition ... the Sunday brunch with my family. The restaurant was very nicely decorated. The personnel were warm and friendly. The brunch was very nicely done - a variety of choices. We were not rushed . I would gladly do it again even beyond the holiday season.
Food was very good, service was just ok (not enough help in our section, but i believe there was a large party elsewhere in the restaurant), hostess was great, bartenders not very attentive. Have been there 4 - 5 times in the past that were very enjoyable. Not so much this time and probably wont return.
Been there twice before, and my expectation was set, but certainly not met this visit. Service was far from the class act of prior visits. Beverage service at table was slow. Time between courses was very long and unacceptable. It made for a very disjointed experience. Food presentation was lack luster. Looked slapped on a plate. My steak was lukewarm, dry, and tough and the accompanying shrimp like rubber. I expected so much more from this restaurant.
My husband and I recently had a wonderful dinner at 31Club. It was a very cozy and romantic feel to the back dining area. Our server answered questions regarding the menu. We were pleasantly satisfied with our choices. I loved the Faroe salmon dish. Unfortunately we were seated next to a 4 top whose conversation was too loud and we could hear everything they had to say. Otherwise we had a great meal and we will be coming back soon.
I had the Filet Mignon and it was very good, while my date had the special prime rib, also was very good. Loved the desert of strawberries, ice cream and dark rum. I overheard the other tables nearby also really enjoyed their food, although I don't know what they ordered. My only negative aspect were the cost of the cocktails: $10.25 for a SoCo Manhattan and it was not made correctly and we had to send it back with instructions.
Went for Thanksgiving. Food was delicious, wonderful seasonal selection with Thanksgiving cocktails and dessert. The courses were fresh and plated perfectly even with it being a preset menu. Beautiful restaurant and cozy, upscale atmosphere. Unfortunately our server was less than attentive and we waited exceptionally long for drink refills and between courses. The price was worth the food and atmosphere but I expect better service from such an upscale restaurant.
We love the 31 Club! The veal scallopini was scrumptious. My partner had the salmon which we had to send back because It was not quite cooked but when it did come back it was perfect. It was a little disappointing to have to send it back. The clams casino are some of the best in Buffalo the bread was great and so was the salad. As usual. One problem of the 31 club in the winter is there is a back door and sometimes if the band is coming in or someone is using it there's a little draft. They need to keep that Curtin shut or turn up the heat temporarily. We had the gelato with espresso and poured it over to make our own affigado . It was excellent. Then we went out to the bar and dance to Speeder Parker and Dolly ...really really fun! Love it when you can have a little dinner and dance and dessert and dance ...it's like an old time supper club!
