We had lamb vindaloo and two other dishes. The vindaloo was not too spicy but I like a bit of pain with my vindaloo. I would have rated it a medium spicy.
Indian food is best served very hot, in this case it was warm to very warm but most definitely not quite hot. Otherwise a very good meal. I would go back.
Poor service - less than average food - MANDAROTY gratuity added for only 2 person dinner! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
The tables were dirty. The service was very poor. The tables did not have basic stuff like salt and pepper. Servers completely ignorant of menu. They did not serve us drinks even after reminding and we kind of gave up. Totally not recommended. The owners should really focus on the place
It was a bad experience, every dish we asked for they didn't had including semolina savory, Punjabi tinda
The server was not interested in serving.... extremely opposite experience to what was written in reviews
Great food, reasonable price, friendly staff! It's a very good idea to book in advance, many people had to wait in line.
A great go to before the theatre or for a lunch with friends. Service is great and selection of a la carte is excellent. Fast and food delivers on taste. Enjoy! !
The food was very good; however, the service was slow. It was crowded (3 other parties) the night we went and the service was still slow. They did bring the little one a mango lassi, so that was very thoughtful.
Fantastic food, lovely setting, great service. Everyone was so friendly.
The food was exceptional .
The service was good.
We will go again
My Family and I had a lovely evening eating, drinking and celebrating. Thank you Dhaba!
Food was really good, but service was bad. I think the owner is employing family members instead of trained servers. The waitress was really attentive and then dis appeared. I had to physically get up from the table twice to get her. The whole meal took an hour and a half...too long!
The service was excellent, the butter chicken was too sweet for my liking but I would definitely recommend it to people with a sensitivity to spices. The garlic Naan was nicely coated and cooked to perfection. We also tried the onion bhaji which was really nice dipped into the red sauce and green sauce. Overall the experience was great. It's a great place to take a Non South Asian too. But for us South Asians, make sure you atleast request black pepper in your food. We sat in a high top overlooking King Street West, which was a great view. The food is affordable as well, not too pricey.
Disappointing service, numerous menu items unavailable, no bartender on a Friday night, no Indian beers--overall a very unpleasant experience. Food itself was good, but everything else fell well short of even the lowest expectations.
We ate at this restaurant before seeing Mrs. Henderson Presents at the Royal Alex. The food was delicious and we felt it was of good value. We will probably eat here again before a show. This was our second time eating here.
Fantastic food, but slow service and TV's on the wall somehow take away from the dining experience. Very reasonable prices, fees ingredients and tasty spice blends make this place a good choice.
Our server was fantastic!
Nice food. Good service. The only thing which makes me disappointed was Menu. Very limited options.
I used to like Dhaba a lot, which is why I came back this time. We are seated at the back of the restaurant, which is not a big deal, except that the delivery men congregate there while idle. They were quite noisy, and that did not contribute to the atmosphere in a good way.
The table was very wobbly, and we had to make sure the wad of paper stuck under the table leg won't move.
It is all the little details that can take the shine out of a good evening.
After eating I many other Indian restaurants in Toronto, I find the sauces way to heavy on the cream. The lychee martini I ordered was tasting ever so faintly of lychee.
The food was absolutely delicious. We were seated right by the window which was great. The service was outstanding too!! I would highly recommend this place for fantastic food and attentive service.
Terrible experience. Waited 5 minutes to be given a menu and a further 10 to get a staff member to talk to us. After waiting nearly an hour for food I was given a dish with a hair in it. It was replaced with a new dish but we waited a further 5 mins for rice to arrive. We also never received our starter. TV was playing Indian TV/Music so loud it made conversation difficult.
Creative, Contemporary and eclectic way to go for passage to gourmet Indian. What a treat and tastes offered like to royalty. Professional and pleasant servers with menu knowledge. Skinny little girl is wonderful. Overlooking View of King St. from window is great to watch. Would definitely return and will recommend to anyone. Be open and ask servers to cook as Chef's own way. Chat samosa with gingery kick and cooled down with avocados
Never disappointed with the buffet. Lots of good choices. If I had to suggest any change, it would be the choice of desserts. Maybe rasmalai as another choice instead of the runny rice pudding.
Good food and very convenient location near the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.
Good selection of tasty dishes
We were treated royalties. Although, it was business meeting/discussion over the dinner. My client from UK and my boss was very happy that I chose the right place. Prawns and rack of lamb were the highlights. Butter chicken, venison vindaloo and garlic nan was to die for. We ordered the appetizers as desserts :) Limited but a very good selection of wine list with private reserves - wait, did I say private reserve? I wasn't really expecting this from an Indian restaurant in Toronto- In UK or US yes, but in Toronto!!!! Very friendly and professional service, The lady hostess was humble and professional. The deal matured! Mr Dhaba we love you - I am coming back soon with my family.
Food is delicious. We arrived for 2 pm and were not told that the buffet closes at 2:30. We didn't really get a chance to try different things
Although they list an extensive menu online they in fact we're only offering a Pretheatre dinner menu for either $30 or $50
Both menus were exactly the same except the higher priced one offered option of a lamb dish that was not on the lower priced one. So unless you wanted that one entree you should order the $30 menu
I had the Shrimp first course with two large shells on shrimp. It was very messy to remove the shell covered with the delicious sauce but it was ver good. My main course was Chicken Masala which was white meat chicken in a excellent sauce and a very generous portion. The meal includes Basmati rice and Garlic Nan both of which were delicious. HOWEVER I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT BECAUSE the service is very poor and the waiter unprofessional. It took more than a half hour to get my first course and the same delay for the next. The restaurant was almost empty but the waiter said they were busy with take out orders. They put your used utensils back on the table for you to reuse. When some rice and sauce spilled on table it was ignored by staff. Finally I called another waiter to clean the table and he said DONT WORRY WELL CLEAN IT AFTER YOU LEAVE!!!!
This is so poorly run that despite the excellent cuisine I will never return and suggest you find one of the other Indian places to dine.
The food was so delicious i have tried the butter chicken and lamb priyani all was excellent. Also, the atmosphere was nice in up stairs.
We ordered the Dhaba family share platter with tandoori meats and vegetables. There was plenty of food for two. A bit too salty for my taste but overall very good. I would come back ~ Vancouver visitor
Decent Indian food, but the service was truly amateur night.
Enjoyed the food and service, the waiter was extremely helpful.
Upstairs from street level. Attentive service that reminded me of some Indian restaurants in London.
Stared with Venison Tender Tikka. Lamb Vindaloo for the main. All well prepared and tasty.
Only thing that took away from the experience was that the air conditioning was not working. Dining area was quite hot.
We ordered the dhaba grill appetizer.. It was unique and creative. Very tasty. The butter chicken and garlic Naan were awesome as well.
These guys make some really good food!
Venison was the best I've ever had and looking forward to eating there again!
Thanks guys
Was there last Friday, the food was generally good but nothing to say WOW about. A bit pricey and they need to work on their taste and quality more. The service was good and friendly.
Honestly the best Vegetarian option buffet I've ever had. It was that good.
Dhaba is located on the second floor with views onto King West. The best seats are the ones near the windows so that you can peer out. The butter chicken here is very good, with large, succulent cubes of chicken. However, the standout is the garlic naan, which I think is the best I've had anywhere. The service is slow and not particularly friendly, but the food is solid. I would definitely go back just for the garlic naan!
309 Dhaba pulls of an authentic Indian taste, with some added modern elegance.
We ordered butter chicken, and lamb vindalo, with some naan, and raita. The portions were plenty for the two of us. the chef at 309 does a phenomenal of capturing true Indian flavours, and he is able to successfully add a modern touch without losing the authenticity of the dish. We also ordered the Avacado Chaat Papri I have to say this was my first time having it with Avocado but wow did make such a difference, it was delicious. The naan was cooked perfectly, and the pineapple Raita added a nice balance to some of the heat. The butter chicken was one of the best I have had and the lamb in the Vindalo was very well cooked, however I do think the vindalo could have used a lot more heat, but none the less really good. We also ordered Manhattans to drink and they were mixed perfectly. The service was good, in the sense that everyone was quick, but it would nice to see a few smiles, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the food
It was busy with the TIFF, so service was slow. Food was excellent when it arrived
Food was terrific. That said, once the evening crowd arrived and filled the restaurant the servers forget about our table of two completely.
